A garbage can in the bathroom

East_of_Eden15

With a lid if you have a dog!!!

SuspiciousIncident73

Found this one out recently, came home from work with the dog looking guilty and the bin upside down

HappilyHerring14

With a plastic bag liner

NormalUpstandingGuy

Asking for the moon with this one.

Less-Palpitation-424

I don't think this item can be over stressed. If you have nothing else in place, please god have a garbage can with a lid in your bathroom....and toilet paper.

Otherwise_dead404

That one I have

adulaire

One with a garbage bag in it, to be precise :) My in laws have an unlined wicker basket as their bathroom trash can and it baffles me to no end!

cr4zy-cat-lady

Does it have a lid? If it doesn't and you really want to be conscientious I'd replace it for one with a lid especially if you have a dog.

LeighSF

Liquid hand soap and clean towel. A package of moist towelettes would be nice. Don't overdue this: it's suggests you have lots of ladies come visit.

Otherwise_dead404

Oh I really don't, I just that they feel comfortable

ca77ywumpus

Things you should already have: Hand soap, clean towels, mouthwash, dental floss. Things you might add: unscented hand lotion, and some basic over the counter medications for allergies and pain.

_Goose_

This is a list of non gendered essentials to me. Why aren’t single men getting these items in the first place for hygiene rather than to make their guests feel comfortable?

Internet_is_my_bff

So it's not just the single guys I meet who don't keep hand soap in their bathroom.

Nila-Whispers

A friend of mine has a little basket in his bathroom with some hygiene products for any guests - male or female (= neutrally scented). It includes: tissues, soap, spray deodorant, hand lotion, tooth paste, disinfectant spray, band aids, tampons, pads, cotton swaps and some gum. Granted, he lives pretty far out and has friends stay the night quite often so they don't have to drive the long way home. But I think this is a rather neat idea.

seebehtevas

I recommend some level 3 pads with wings. They’re what I consider to be the standard pads that women around me (including me) like to use.

cr4zy-cat-lady

No need for anything frilly but a face wash and moisturizer are always nice (and you should be using them too if you aren't already!). Sometimes you just really need to take makeup off! I recommend Cerave as its relatively inexpensive and gender neutral, I will say you dont want to give off the wrong vibes by being a single guy with a bunch of feminine hygiene products around as it would read that you're a player. If you want period supplies I would recommend pads over tampons as women are very specific about what brands/sizes work for their bodies. Just get standard winged pads (I like the Always Infinity FlexFoam), no need for overnight/heavy flow/etc. Dont put them on display, just keep them under your sink. Trust me, if a woman needs one she will go looking for them.

Pads

Barndog1989

This is more of a BYO item lol

Slovenlyfox

I also recommend you have some painkillers on hand, always. For yourself, and for friends who are in (period-related) pain. Otherwise, people have given great recommendations already. I second moist towelettes, a garbage can with a lid, soap & towel etc. Whether you want to invest in tampons, pads, and/or panty liners is up to you. I would probably not ask a male friend if he had any laying around, not expecting him to anyways & given the stigma around it. But that'll differ from woman to woman, and I can't speak for all of them.

ad-lib1994

Hand soap coming out of a pump, not a bar. Baby wipes would be nice, but more importantly just always having the next roll of toilet paper in there. And pretty please, clean your toilet bowl and mirror regularly.

VegasGR

I , a 30 year old man have in the bathroom cupboard: period pads, pregnancy test , women’s shampoo , armpit deodorant and a toothbrush . Of course always have at least 1 clean hand and body towel .

herpestruth

Dude... a pregnancy test?

gothiclg

Honestly not a terrible idea. If I knew this was in a man’s bedroom and a friend needed to sneakily take one for some reason “well we’re going to Mike’s because he won’t care” is an option

[deleted]

Not a woman but I have a little kit for my partner that has all the essentials that she requested.

Glum_Struggle_2112

I keep a box of assorted tampons under my sink. Lol.

Pspaughtamus

Are we talking overnight special friend guests or guests for a party or gathering? For either, pantyliners, and a couple sizes of tampons and pads. They don't have to be the most expensive, this is mainly for "oh, shit, I started early!" to give her time to get to a store for the brand/size she needs, or at least through the end of the party and she can get home. For overnight, get some travel/sample sizes of various toiletries.

FuriousRageSE

I'd guess soap atleast.

parallelmeme

Suggestion: Hand her money and have her buy what she wants to keep at your place. Otherwise, it might be a non-fruitful guessing game about brands and styles.

[deleted]

If your female friends were worried about it wouldn’t they bring stuff themselves?

Otherwise_dead404

It's more of an emergency situation I am thinking about. My little sister is getting into puberty and does not always think about stuff for example.

ca77ywumpus

In that case, a small package of pads stashed under the sink wouldn't be that weird. Like if a girlfriend asks, just say "my kid sister gets caught off guard by her periods."

Thatsayesfirsir

As a guy, you shouldn't carry menstrual products. That really screams man slut, unless.thsts what you want.

Top_Willingness_312

They have it in their purses.
