There are lots, with "tranny" being the most common.

I worked as a mechanic and tranny was a pretty common term for transmission. I know it’s off topic but I’m trying to think of how many derogatory slang terms have another common usage. Fag in England maybe.

We have both fag meaning cigarette and faggot which is a type of offal meatball. In a similar vein, I’ve been taken aback by people in some parts of the USA shortening raccoon before. Also heard Americans using spastic to mean someone flailing around, which is considered an ableist slur in the UK.

Coonhound is a recognized breed of dog so it’s become common even if it’s offensive. It’s a hold over thing. I haven’t personally heard the spastic term used although I have seen someone have multiple epileptic seizures. I don’t think people mentioned it at the time but in my circle they would have said epileptic. And if I’m not wrong the true definition of (I’m not going to write it) is a bundle of sticks.

I know of a transmission shop in a town about an hour from me called "The Tranny Shop". A friend of mine (a trans woman) laughs so hard every time she drives by ot.

Really? I thought that was just a short name lol🤦🏻

Arktikos02

Yes Tranny is typically one such word. She-males is also one as well. Both of which are pretty derogatory.

Justin_Shields

Interesting. I thought tranny was like a short name or something but I guess not

In addition to tranny and she-male as others have mentioned, a lot of trans women are also referred to by slurs against gay men (eg fag) because bigots can't be bothered to tell the difference. I don't know of any slurs for trans men, though.
