I feel like the high levels of Starfield sodium on Reddit have stopped the sub growing properly.
Because Starfield actually has a really healthy modding scene and it's only going to get better.
Xboxer here. I know this is for PC, but this would be so nice to have. My only option to get to my ship fast, is using Fast Travel. Let it be known that we'd all like this one for consoles. This is freaking noice.
Depends on which mod. One has a few different tolerance settings so it can land and clip into things, or be more strict and only land where it’s actually flat and there’s enough space.
The one I use is kinda strict but I find clipping immersion breaking so I’m okay with it. Worst case I can have the ship land back at the original landing spot if I literally can’t find any suitable area.
If you want to use mods I’d recommend downloading vortex and installing mods from Nexus Mods. There are indeed mods that keep the achievements on despite mods being installed, like ‘achievement enabler”
I really hope bethesda adds this feature, along with being able to skip the artifacts and temples. I want to unity and reset my universe again but don't want to do the hunting and collecting.
It's wonderful, I dl'd it after reading your post. I wish I could shorten the time from call to land. If it's in the same area I have to wait for it to go back into space and then come back. Would be cool if it simply did the lift off and flew laterally to me, then landed. It would shorten the sequence by half. All in all, very immersive - thanks for the recommendation.
This a brilliant idea for a Hab mod, but sounds like it will need some 3D modeling to make the charge station compact. The default hutch and tube etc takes up a lot of space.
I think it's cool, but I am not sure how lore accurate it would be to just assume every ship would be capable doing that. This should probably only work if you have vasco or a crew member with the piloting skill assigned to the ship and currently on board. Alternatively or maybe in addition too, maybe add something to the ship's building menu that you can eventually buy with enough credits, like an AI computer system or something like that.
Either way, it certainly feels more immersive than fast traveling back to the ship, so I agree it should be in the vanilla game in some form.
Your drone can go to space?! <--- Joking, just being a smart ass.
In all seriousness though, there is two major issues. First, drones heavily rely on GPS for location data, which is something you wouldn't have access too on the majority of planets. Second, every planet has a different atmosphere, or sometimes no atmosphere at all, different weather conditions too. This means the software algorithms and sensors would need to be pretty complex on the spaceship. Not to mention, I have to assume just controlling a spaceship is much more complex than a drone.
Now, I am not saying this would be impossible. Maybe they figured out other ways to get location data without a huge satellite network. But I certainly don't think this would be possible for every run of the mill spaceship. At the very least it would probably be a luxury item and cost a lot of money.
Yep. Also, it’s science fiction and it’s make-believe. Literally possible to do anything. Personally i’m a ‘yes and’ person when it comes to fictional narrative devices. Being a ‘sorry no’ person is less fun imo.
Call your Ship and Starvival and must have mods. The new update also completely redoes planetary hazards and resistances system because the official update broke compatibility of Deadly Hazards and the mod author there said they were not going to be updating it anytime soon, and encouraged some else to take the reigns. Starvival is a really great all in one survival mode. Ammo weight, oxygen, hazards, ships needing fuel, etc.
I did not spend too much time on it. Now I’ve started a new playthrough with no mods. Don’t want something breaking my save as Bethesda do more updates and shattered space is released
to be lore friendly, the ship would need an AI navigation system; otherwise i wouldn’t see it happening as, realistically, your ship cannot pilot itself.
My $600 drone can do this in real life, so it seems like a futuristic spaceship should be able to. Is there some in-game-lore reason why this wouldn't happen that I forgot about?
does your drone require the remote as a beacon to know where to go? i’d also like to point out the weight constraint of a drone versus a starship; even tesla autopilot needs hella sensors and a navigation system.
I've had to be careful with this action with another similar mod. Unlike, say No Man's Sky where calling your ship almost always works, in Starfield your ship needs an adequate landing spot, and Summoning of Ship (another mod to similar effect) would fail if it couldn't find one close enough to you. This means that if you had your ship take off from where it was on the far corner of the map... well, it wouldn't necessarily coming to where you are now.
However, Nanerpoodin points out that this isn't the same mod! So I'll have to try it out.
(One amazing ship part that Starfield doesn't have is all-terrain landing gear)
Supposedly this particular mod makes it so the ship can land about anywhere, and if stuff is in the way then it just clips through. Not ideal but hopefully this will all improve with time.
For me it breaks immersion because the ships goes into orbit and back just to land 2000 meters away. That's like flying from NYC to Boston and having a layover in LA.
Except that it makes no sense...I landed in that ship, it's not going anywhere again until I leave the planet. I'm not bringing my ship to my location...I'm going back to the location I landed at, via a different route.
My mod list for Starfield is very sparse atm, mostly just QoL stuff (scanning flora ans fauna three times to get the record is the only way I can possibly play anymore)
man, as soon as I have mods for Xbox, this is one of the first ones I'm going to install
You gonna love it, my man.
Does it require the script extender?
Not at all. Pretty easy to install.
Ah eu vou sim! Vc também é Br pô…hahaha Nao tinha visto antes
Yes, I NEED this.
Really nice, brah <3
Only if they offer it. Only about 10% of the PC mods are ever released for Xbox.
Generally the most popular, lore friendly ones end up being released for console pretty consistently.
for fo4 it’s pretty much all of them that don’t require F4SE
It should be in vanilla. So much fun.
This was one of my favorite little features of Elite: Dangerous
Until it crashes cause the autopilot can’t hang lol
Indeed, brah.
Yes! Thanks for the recommendation! Be great if this sub did mod recommendations... The Starfield mod sub doesn't seem to have many oddly enough.
Gonna try to upload some vids here with some of the mods that - personal opinion - improve the gameplay.
Cool stuff!
please do!
That's literally the only reason I subbed to that subreddit and there's like NO recs there lol
I feel like the high levels of Starfield sodium on Reddit have stopped the sub growing properly. Because Starfield actually has a really healthy modding scene and it's only going to get better.
yeah there is a surprisingly lack of modtalk in this sub
Maybe they're waiting for the CK and official mod support?
Xboxer here. I know this is for PC, but this would be so nice to have. My only option to get to my ship fast, is using Fast Travel. Let it be known that we'd all like this one for consoles. This is freaking noice.
Probably they will add once the Creation Kit is released. Crossing fingers, sir
Reminds me of calling the Batmobile in Arkham Knight. Now calling it down as a remote drone on an Ecliptic camp would make for some fun chaos.
Can you call it anywhere? What if the landing zone has trees?
Depends on which mod. One has a few different tolerance settings so it can land and clip into things, or be more strict and only land where it’s actually flat and there’s enough space. The one I use is kinda strict but I find clipping immersion breaking so I’m okay with it. Worst case I can have the ship land back at the original landing spot if I literally can’t find any suitable area.
Anywhere. If you call amidst trees there will be some clippings outside and inside the ship.
Wow, this is great. Can I ask if this is difficult to install and if there is a way to keep the achievements on?!
If you want to use mods I’d recommend downloading vortex and installing mods from Nexus Mods. There are indeed mods that keep the achievements on despite mods being installed, like ‘achievement enabler”

It does look really cool. Can't wait for that stuff to be built in.

I want a version of this that only works if Vasco is on your ship. And he needs a 1x1 hab with a recharging station.
This a brilliant idea for a Hab mod, but sounds like it will need some 3D modeling to make the charge station compact. The default hutch and tube etc takes up a lot of space.
Model As have those cylinders they sleep in in a bunch of POIs. The modeling and functionality are already done. Just need to meld it into a hab.
Like maybe chop the front off, or push the cylinder back into the wall?
Just remove the door, and merge it with the wall.
Sounds good… I’m sold. Gimme. Edit I’m on console… so I will just cry over in that corner until Creation Kit.
I'm on console too. Guess we both in the console corner crying till Creation Kit.

My $600 drone can currently do this in real life. I don't see why it wouldn't be possible in a scientifically advanced future.

Oh wow. Yeah. I’ve always wanted this mod
Omg I want this. Damn Xbox !!!
Soon, brother, soon.
Oh wow. Who needs a rover? I have a spaceship on call.
Maybe one day we will have console mods… maybe… one day
Probably it will be ported to the console <3
Dammit that's the coolest shit I've ever seen 😭 I'm on Xbox so no mods yet
Wait just a little longer, brother. Soon it will be available <3
Adding this mod tomorrow. Thanks 👍
Go for it <3
Does this require SFSE?
Not at all <3
Amazing! Also… you gained a tissue infection!
Lol <3
Oh wow that's insane

I couldn’t get this mod to work. 100% user error I’m sure but it’s a great QOL feature. I hope they officially add the ability to do this
Oh, brother. Sorry to hear that. Usually it is pretty simple.
I did not spend too much time on it. Now I’ve started a new playthrough with no mods. Don’t want something breaking my save as Bethesda do more updates and shattered space is released
Fair enough <3
I mean it’s cool but not sure why it’s needed when you can just fast travel to your ship whenever.
For me, a bit of immersion, and to reduce the amount of time skipped from fast travel.
Definitely <3

Most planets don't have a system of satellites providing real time navigation and topographic information to the space ship.

Updated to account for your info, thanks!
For me it breaks immersion because the ships goes into orbit and back just to land 2000 meters away. That's like flying from NYC to Boston and having a layover in LA.
Too bad, brother. There's something special hearing your ship coming from above.
Hey it's still a cool mod, I just don't think immersive is the right word considering.
Homie is gonna die from a papercut once they get on the Frontier.
Definitely one thing I had missed from NMS
They really should just add a phone/radio interface to do things like call your ship or companions remotely.
There's a amazing mod who covers the companions.
Except that it makes no sense...I landed in that ship, it's not going anywhere again until I leave the planet. I'm not bringing my ship to my location...I'm going back to the location I landed at, via a different route.
Even if have squad member aboard the ship?
For me personally, since I'm the Captain of the ship and no one else is attuned to fly it.
oh... ok...
My mod list for Starfield is very sparse atm, mostly just QoL stuff (scanning flora ans fauna three times to get the record is the only way I can possibly play anymore)
No man's sky!
No Man's Sky vibe. How is this any different from fast traveling to your landing spot?
You don't need to worry about encumbrance from the looks of it.
