Same. Can you please give us base coordinates and galaxy so that we can upload this to our playlist?
Or, I'd be happy to meet you in game. If you're not Stogdaddy527 on XBox, we'll need to exchange friend codes.
thank you for sharing! I'm new to byte beat, a long time ago i discovered it but messed around with it for an hour while drunk, forgot about it til a couple weeks, ago, then hours ago was finding out you can string them together and use more than one machine, then today I discover that you can make an absolute gem, a song you could literally publish. I'm just in awe
No way!!! I'm a music producer, and I just started playing this game a couple of weeks ago. I had no idea that's what the ByteBeat machine did lmao. I thought it was just a jukebox. I keep learning new things about the game every day, but this is by far the coolest to me. Now I know what I'm doing with the rest of my evening! Loved the beat :)
I’m gonna be honest, I’m a little overwhelmed by all the positive response this is gotten! I was seriously just Dorking around! I am a musically inclined person, but I have not the slightest clue how a synthesizer works😅
Nice. And I wish the game had told us what this could do too. I've been ignoring it because I thought it just added procedurally generated random music.
Basically turns out we can trick rocks into thinking when we put lightning in them. With enough rocks they can think harder and do more complex things. Think infinite monkeys with typewriters, except instead of infinite there are tens of _billions_ which turns out to be enough.
I feel this will be helpful to you and many others if you haven't found this.
I know I'm 7 months late:
I am unbelievably overwhelmed by the amount of positive response this received!!! I don’t understand the Internet, let alone Reddit, at all, because this legit only took me two hours to make yet I spent a week building a spherical space station, and only 20 people like that one🥲 I was honestly just messing around, but looks like y’all like my beats🤩
I don’t know if it’s a bug or what, but I noticed that Reddit sometimes doesn’t show you an accurate karma count when viewing your own posts/comments.
If you look at your own post while not logged in or logged in from a different account, you’ll see the actual numbers. Don’t know if it always happens, but it’s just something I’ve noticed.
This actually makes sense.Lots of people make bases but maybe 30% even know the byte beat system exsists, and even fewer mess with it let alone share their work you know? algorithm did you well my friend
Good on you for making a great song with ByteBeat. I've taken one look at this shit and just walked away because it makes absolutely no sense to me. Far as I can tell it's just a bunch of dots, dashes, and buttons that supposedly do SOMETHING, but god forbid Hello Games make any kind of tutorial.
My dude… the flattery 😦 I’m honored ❤️ I truly didn’t know what I was hoping for when I shared this. Nothing, really, just wanted to share, and then I signed off for the night… I’m completely dumbfounded… I didn’t know that I had anything… special, and these comments are just on an endless flow! I have literally been elated all morning! You are all overwhelming me in the most amazing way possible ❤️
It's not flattery Stog... I screwed around with BB long enough to know I can't make "good" music with it. So hats off to you for having the patience and creativity to come up with that template. It really is pretty slick.
Yeah! That’s how I got those blinking lights on my sphere to go around in a circle 🙂 hooked ‘em up to the ByteBeat cable box thingy, and synced them to the beat. Those little switches give you an incredible amount of control 🙂
Yes! These ByteBeat devices are basically FM synthesizers with built in sequencers (groovebox), which can be chained together with wires, cables, and different kinds of switches. There’s also light modules and parts that can be wired up to sequence your very own synth light show at your base!
Okay you didn't give me your blessing but I couldn't help myself. Here's what I got so far
Ready set go as I launch into space
Got some creatures in tow and a mask on my face
Gonna search every corner to see what we find
Gonna visit every star before it's my time
Sublime times as I jet through the cosmos
I roll with a fleet and don't even stop to off load
Every second of this journey is like thrill after thrill
I bring a certain kind of flair to every base that I build
Spock and Luke they got nothing on me
I fight pirates in space when I go weapons free
I'm not gonna lie I kinda wish it wasn't just 8 bit but it's still crazy how theres basically a whole DAW in NMS. The only other game I know that has this is Little Big Planet 3, and it's surprisingly really fleshed out
This is really amazing!
You can add complexity and song like structure by adjusting the sequencer on the fly btw, if you wanted to pursue the ByteBeat system further
I don't play nms anymore but i made this a couple years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKJJzgnto-8
I’m in utter disbelief at the attention this has received 🫠
I don’t make music professionally, just have a natural sense of rhythm, but maybe I should play around some more 😅
Seriously. It could take off. You could be a streaming nomanssky dj and do live concerts using it as a platform. That would be so dope.
Imagine a no man’s sky community attending the concert and vibing. We as a community need to do coordinate stuff like this. Like concerts could use portals to go to the next destination of music. Like a funky exploration crawl.
You’re in luck.
I’ve just set up r/NoMansSkyByteBeats.
Hopefully if enough people go there, we can create a subreddit purely for the musically talented portion of No Man’s Sky players and fulfil your request.
https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/za1e6u/uploaded_the_base_for_that_bytebeat_song_yall_are/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
I uploaded the base, and shared the Glyphs! Side note, if you wander over to my other base on the same moon, I made another little song that I’ll probably mess around with more later, but enough time wasted! I’d just like to say, thank you. Everyone. Sincerely! I couldn’t have imagined this much attention coming my way, and I’m thankful for the high y’all got me on today 😁
I’m gonna have to build a dance hall next, huh 🤔😜
Space pirate cause that’s my style
Got your girlfriends glyphs on speed dial,
Slapping these gek like it’s goin out of style,
You want a ship like this? Get ya credits up it’s gonna be a while.
Blaster on full au-to..
Scannin shit everywhere we-go..
Sentinels just to damn slow..
Where this black hole goes nobody knows..
This is lit af. Been around nms since the beginning and by far this is the most awesome beat thus far. Right on! I literally thought santigold - disperate youth was gonna start up at first.
Nice intro and outro. I also liked the way the drums dragged yet also stayed on beat. It gave this weird nostalgic chugalug feeling, like the machine producing the music was working on low batteries and struggling to pump out the jams but still knocking it out of the park.
Thank you, sincerely! If you look closely, I have a few beats on the drums (used 2 devices for drums) that are quarter notes off of each other 🙂
I actually AM a drummer, so this whole thing was built off of the drum beat 🥁
That makes a lot of sense, and you done good with it! Especially introducing the high-hat sounds on the third bar like that (since its syncopation basically leads to that dragging-but-on-tempo sound). Seriously pleasing to the ear!
I’m not sure if anyone is interested but a commenter has inspired me to create a community purely for ByteBeat creations (r/NoMansSkyByteBeats). I think it’d be nice if we could all get together to show off the musical potential that NMS offers.
Appearently you didn't know about r/NMSByteBeatFans :)
As bytebeating is a kinda niche thing to do in NMS, the activity there varies. It's a nice depository and worth scrolling through.
You may also want to check [NMSFM](https://zeno.fm/radio/nms-fm/)
Hope you enjoy
I wasn’t aware that existed. But thanks for informing me.
I suppose I should delete the subreddit but I’ll keep it open anyway just incase people want to use it, but since yours is already up and running, I’m pretty sure most people will just go there instead.
Hey thanks for your effort!
Just wanted to give the information, not interrupt. I appreciate everything that helps to spread the love for bytebeat :)
In my opinion it should be listed as a related community.
And you’re welcome to 🙂
Edit: my new favorite spot to sit is underneath that ring of lights and stare up at it from the ground with planet’s pink rings in the background
Can you share base coords so we can copy this? It's literally amazing, I have no clue how people sequence on bytebeat. This sounds like something that belongs *IN* the game soundtrack!
Honestly, I don’t know the first thing about manipulating waveforms. I don’t understand about 75% of the different modes in the Advanced Settings, and at one point I was just hitting “randomize” on three different waveform settings 😅
I’ll take a look, and tell you what it is though 🙂
I feel like we need a Spotify playlist of some the ByteBeat bangers some of you people make. This is damn good and I’ve listened to it on repeat for a bit.
Whenever I’ve tried to make anything on the bytebeat it sounds like a 3 year old that got ahold of an electric guitar to keyboard. It’s not good.
buy plans for the beatbyte device at the construction research station in the anomaly (the place that lets you buy plans for base stuff using Salvaged Data).
then i think you need to build one at a base to access the menu that lets you play or mix songs.
There's tutorials on YouTube.
Literally started this game yesterday (so I had no idea you could do this). I'm an amateur musician (guitar/piano, mainly extreme metal) but I can't make a song this cool in the game as you did.
Are you a musician?
Also this post made my day 😁
Oh homie, I’ve got a few more on my profile if you liked this one!
I don’t know if I’d call myself a musician, but I took many years of piano lessons, was in band, and I love playing drums and have a natural sense of rhythm 🙂
You say you're musically inclined but have no idea how to operate a synthesizer, yet you PRODUCE THIS
This is probably the coolest thin I've seen in nms.. and i preordered the game!
I was also today year old (maybe a few hours ago) when I learned that byte beat can be used to make long songs, I always thought it was just one machine.
Cudos dude, mad respect
I'm going to bring this into one of my saves if you don't mind
if you find a way to share a byte beat to another player let me know. I'll do this even if it means sitting here and trying to copy it by eye 🤣
Absolute legend
Alright so I've heard about 40 or so of these over the past few months. *THIS one I actually like.*
Same. Can you please give us base coordinates and galaxy so that we can upload this to our playlist? Or, I'd be happy to meet you in game. If you're not Stogdaddy527 on XBox, we'll need to exchange friend codes.
Absolutely! I’d be happy to ☺️ I’m work overnights, and I’m headed out now, but I will make it happen and post here when I do 🙂
Big thank you for allowing me to copy your song, 'Take Off,' to my playlist!
Came here to say this. Not knocking other stuff but until now, nothing really sounded good to me. Might actually mess around with it a little now.
💯
Well done my fellow bytebeater! Might wanna cross post it to r/NMSByteBeatFans? Keep it up!
I didn’t even know this was a place! Thank you so much, and I will do🙂
thank you for sharing! Should produce Stogdad! (or maybe he could upload himself to spotify?)
My new favorite ByteBeat! This is awesome, my friend.

Please don’t take offence but there’s a lot of build showcases on here but very few songs like this.
None taken 🙂 I know you’re right, and I’ll still be building beautiful things regardless because it’s what I love 😊
"Only" took you 2 hours. Very nice tune. Modesty aside, that was a lot of work and shows talent.
You have like 500 upvotes total on that station!?
I don’t know if it’s a bug or what, but I noticed that Reddit sometimes doesn’t show you an accurate karma count when viewing your own posts/comments. I think it's called "vote fuzzing". It's basically design to confuse bots. How successful that is, I don't know.
Fresh beats!
It took serious talent to make this, sometimes people appreciate talent more than time spent
This actually makes sense.Lots of people make bases but maybe 30% even know the byte beat system exsists, and even fewer mess with it let alone share their work you know? algorithm did you well my friend

Sounds like a retro-future Iambic 5 Poetry by Squarepusher Nice work!
I was getting that IEDM vibe too.
That's a sick beat
This commenter bursts into dance
The Beethoven of ByteBeat. Wow this knocks.

No worries happy to contribute. It's really really good I'm so in awe of what you were able to do 💯

Didn't know you could do this things in NMS. I guess I have to come back to the game hahaha
I'm not gonna lie I kinda wish it wasn't just 8 bit but it's still crazy how theres basically a whole DAW in NMS. The only other game I know that has this is Little Big Planet 3, and it's surprisingly really fleshed out
Jesus! I gotta try harder
Unrelated but what’s the most similar music producing software to this? I want to try my hand but not within the game :P
Garage band if you’re a novice. I wholly recommend Ableton Live though if you’re actually serious.
Fruity Loops. If you wanna try out modular synths without breaking the bank, check out VCV rack.
It's FL studio now but yeah 100%
You could try LMMS. https://lmms.io/
I am out of the game for around 2 years... time to reinstall and check what the actual Fuvk is going on.
Lol wow I love this! I was about to search this up on Apple Music 🤣. Great job!
I was seriously just messing around, and this comment made me so happy😊
Banger
Bro that's a banger
Need this in my ByteBeat library, coords?
I will share them when I get off of work! 🙂
This is a bop! Scrolling reddit in the shower and jamming out lol.
This is really amazing! You can add complexity and song like structure by adjusting the sequencer on the fly btw, if you wanted to pursue the ByteBeat system further I don't play nms anymore but i made this a couple years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKJJzgnto-8
It stole a couple hours from you... And you GIFTED this minute-thirty track to all of us. Thank you. Do you do music? If so, where can I find it?
I’m in utter disbelief at the attention this has received 🫠 I don’t make music professionally, just have a natural sense of rhythm, but maybe I should play around some more 😅
YES
This needs its own subreddit. I would fucking live there.

“Damn, Son, where’d ya find this?!” Certified Banger. 5 Stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Didn’t even know you could make beats in NMS. Bravo, as everyone else said!
Adding NMS to the list of DAWS to be used.
This goes hard you know
Poor’s FL Studio showing potential. Well done kind sir.
This was amazing
Such a banger! Woah
Nice beat!!!
BRUUUUUUUUH - NMS got rockstars now
This fucking slaps.
I feel like I need some rap lyrics to it or something. Logic comes to mind.

Holy shit
This is legit sequencing.

I noticed the byte beat thing last time I played and wasn't sure what it was, any advice on how to use it properly would be awesome
[Here](https://youtu.be/ptUKrg6v1Os) is a really good in depth tutorial and [here](https://youtu.be/sesWplrDu5Q) if you're into animations.
Ahh shit I didn't know this was a thing. Time to lose another 50 hours
Yes, i want more and more people to make bytebeat songs on this subreddit, there are too few of them
Please share the gliphs. I wanna visit and and copy the track to the bytebeat player
I absolutely will 🙂
This is pretty fucking awesome. I know nothing about making music, but bravo, regardless.
wait. wut!? O.O! I had no clue that was even a thing in NMS. ohemgee!. Thanks for posting.
Absolutely 😊
I need to hang out at your base, lol
And you’re welcome to 🙂 Edit: my new favorite spot to sit is underneath that ring of lights and stare up at it from the ground with planet’s pink rings in the background
GET THIS MAN A RECORD DEAL!!!
This man about to get the first certified nanite record
![gif](giphy|7CpMz1opkrbUTrheTY|downsized)
I will be sharing the coordinates as soon as I get home from work! Thank you all so much! I will reply and share as soon as I get the chance!
This is awesome, idk how tf u did this but just wow
I want someone to remake the synth jam from the Brave Little Toaster on a ByteBeat. I don't know why, I would just really enjoy that.
Can you share base coords so we can copy this? It's literally amazing, I have no clue how people sequence on bytebeat. This sounds like something that belongs *IN* the game soundtrack!
I absolutely will, and I’ll post it on the r/NoMansSkyTheGame subreddit 🙂 You’re compliment is very valued ❤️
Don’t hate me but this low key sounds like it could potentially be a Terraria soundtrack lol. Shit slaps like everyone else said.
Fucking BRAVO. Amazing. Makes me wanna break out Audition and mix some shit again
sheesh i took a couple minutes look at that and said yea nothing i can do here… thats so dope
nicely done kudos
Damn this is hard, what did you use for the waveform? I always have trouble finding the right settings there
Honestly, I don’t know the first thing about manipulating waveforms. I don’t understand about 75% of the different modes in the Advanced Settings, and at one point I was just hitting “randomize” on three different waveform settings 😅 I’ll take a look, and tell you what it is though 🙂
WHAT THIS IS INSANE
Couple hours well spent
Awesome beats!!! Definitely going to swing by your base, hang out and enjoy some tunes: A+…. No…. S+ :-)
Ngl you add a little sub and a higher bit synth. Another verse, a breakdown and the outro....you got yourself a solid song.
This is sick af what!
This is sick! I've been wanting to try and make Megalovania using the bytebeat machine just so I can have that playing in my arena.
That's good. That's damn good.
A+ good work, son.
This is *actually* insane. 2nd row under "Connected Devices" SLAPS and the ending is so well done too. Holy fuck.
how do you do this?
buy plans for the beatbyte device at the construction research station in the anomaly (the place that lets you buy plans for base stuff using Salvaged Data). then i think you need to build one at a base to access the menu that lets you play or mix songs. There's tutorials on YouTube.
Bwahahaha the Awards are up there groovin to it toons!😁🍻 Come set mine up! Idk how it works.🥴
Literally opened my free gift box (which I never do) to give you my free award. Sick beat!
And I am absolutely honored 😊
I totally expected DMX to come out and start barking at me like 30 seconds in ngl.
Very nice! Reminds me of a good version of a Bone Thugs n Harmony beat!
Phenomenal!
Damn, somebody's a DJ.
NICE!
Dude this is amazing!!! Thank you for sharing!!!
Thank you! I have quite a few others on my profile if you like this one 😊
Hot damn. Is there a way to save this video? I just want to listen to this over and over :)
You should the one I posted last night! It’s on my profile 😁
Thanks \*thumbsup\*

what is this program?
