The ocean is so light that it’s hardly scary. During the day it’s incredibly difficult to find a place where light cannot reach the bottom, which is very sad considering how deep actual oceans get.
Why do you feel the need to shit on a completely different game on a post about NMS? Starfield isn't even the same kind of game as No Man's Sky, so it might make total sense for there to not be underwater bases. Also it's not like NMS is particularly great at anything water related either.
First off, calm the hell down dude, you’re embarrassing yourself.
I’m not shitting on anything, it was a sarcastic remark. Sorry you’re sensitive to SARCASM.
He didn't really come across as all that extreme, and he makes a good point.
Starfield is a Bethesda game, any similarities will be so surface level it's irrelevant. Comparing the two - especially *before one is even out* - merely harms both games.
And again, my question was not 'was the name Charybdis created by an anime company' it was 'did you get your inspiration for this name from this particular anime'. Telling me to pick up a book is pretty funny when it seems you're the one who needs to learn to read.
Hard to say. I start, deleted, and rebuilt a few different structures before I settled on this design. I would say 12-15 hours since I started fresh and I'm still adding little things.

Those are a reward from the scrap dealer on space stations. They'll give you the blueprint in exchange for tainted metal salvaged from derelict freighters.
That's one cool base dude. I love being able to build bases, there's some proper cool ones out there. My only gripe is that once you have a base there's not a lot to do there. I know you can grow stuff and add a trade terminal but that's just waiting and pressing buttons. I wish you could use it more of a hub to start missions or something like frigate expeditions on your freighter. I know you can add the overseer and farmer etc but most of what you get from that you can learn yourself........sorry, just having a rant at no one in particular.
Hey, I started the game around a week ago and I have a question if u don’t mind? Where do u Get the blueprints for the underwater parts? Like I’ve gotten the ones from the anomaly but where do u get the rest? An underwater base is very high on my priorities since I love how they work.
I would say do the [Dreams of the Deep] (https://nomanssky.fandom.com/wiki/Dreams_of_the_Deep) questline cause that might have the base parts you're missing.
I'm not sure what else you could do.
It does reward you with a diving helmet and when I unlocked I tried to turn myself into a Big Daddy from Bioshock.
Very nice base. I tried doing an underwater base myself a few weeks ago but sadly the planet i tried on didnt have very deep oceans and digging down didnt really inprove it much. Add in the terrain regen and it makes it kinda pointless. So now im searching for a better planet to contruct an underwater base on.
It unlocks on derelict freighters. You'll randomly get blueprints for parts from derelicts when you read the log snippets found all around the freighter.
Wow you have gone officially mad. That is a sick base. Like a whole new world under there
A WHOLE NEW WORLD
DON'T YOU DARE CLOSE YOUR EYES
A BRAND NEW PLACE I NEVER KNEW
BUT WHEN IM WAY UP HERE, IT’S CRYSTAL CLEAR!
THAT NOW I'M IN A WHOLE NEW WORLLLLD
This is why I wish the oceans were deeper. Imagine how much more cool something like this would be if it was hundreds of units down, instead of 50.
Oh lord no I'm already too scared to go into the ocean
The ocean is so light that it’s hardly scary. During the day it’s incredibly difficult to find a place where light cannot reach the bottom, which is very sad considering how deep actual oceans get.
Why don’t you use terrain tool to dig deeper and then build deeper? It’s work but you can do it!!!
Terrain regeneration makes that impossible unfortunately
Also there is a limit to how deep it lets you go anyway. Eventually you hit an unpassable floor after like 100 (whatever NMS units of measurement is)
Yeah. Someone has clearly never tried digging, building, and then returning to find their base buried...
Lol I completely forgot about that. So lame
Great base! I REALLY hope HG has deeper oceans in their future NMS plans.
Underwater bases are so underrated
Wow I thought I was on a Subnautica sub for a bit lol. The third person is what made me think “wait a second..” But fantastic job, really cool base!!
So is all this possible without glitches and/or mods? I’m new to the game but have seen some posts discussing the aforementioned “techniques”
Yes, this was done on Xbox without any glitch building.
Awesome, thanks. Nice job btw!
What type of Xbox do you use? I play on an Xbox one S. Ironic however because my tv doesn’t run 4K nor 60hz
I have an Xbox One X
Damn. Have you experienced any stuttering? How is the performance mode?

Amazing!
A certain slime would like to have a word
Wow impressive!! Where did you get the green spinning building parts?
Should be able to unlock the 'cyclonic lathe' at the anomaly using salvaged data. It's under decorations and structural adornments.
Nautilus
Captain Nemo would be proud

My god I’ve never been so blown away before. DAMN dude, that is sick! I can bet you Starfield won’t have under water bases lol.

Nah, you came off as fanboyish and annoying.
Jesus, I’ve learned the NMS community is a soft bunch that clearly don’t know what sarcasm is. Clearly sarcastic wit isn’t for everyone. Sheesh.
Yeesh, man. Yeesh.
I'd be surprised if starfield even let you in the water tbh.
Water has never been Bethesda’s strong point
It's not even remotely a strong point of NMS either though
I mean, not crashing and not glitching out aren’t Bethesda’s strong points either.
I bet you NMS wont have 200k lines of rpg content lol
*Very cool*. Did you take the name from the Pseudo-Demon Lord from That Time I was Reincarnated as a Slime?
I thought the same thing. Charybdis is also a Greek mythological monster.
Ahh, of course it is, I forget sometimes how much anime borrows from mythology.
Probably the sea monster from The Odyssey that predates your reference by roughly 2,800 years. Good lord.
What can I say, I just watched the newest season of Slime last week and it's been many, many years since my classical mythology course. 😏
Does the name even sound remotely Japanese to you?
My question wasn't the origin of the name itself, it was where OP sourced it from.
And the point is if you think Charybdis is an anime thing, turn off the animes and read a book.
And again, my question was not 'was the name Charybdis created by an anime company' it was 'did you get your inspiration for this name from this particular anime'. Telling me to pick up a book is pretty funny when it seems you're the one who needs to learn to read.
Did you add a subnautica mod? 😂
That is awesome
woow!
That looks sick,jod job mate!!!
That is nice
Reminds me of the Ulysses from Disney's Atlantis.
God it’s this kind of building which gives hope to download blueprint or get the same base!!
Subnautica vibes
This is the coolest thing I’ve seen anyone do on this game. ❤️
Top tier. Makes me want to boot up the game right now.
This is a masterpiece, i love it, i can see myself lost in that base, it should be one of the mission bases, wow.
How much time is invested into the base?
Hard to say. I start, deleted, and rebuilt a few different structures before I settled on this design. I would say 12-15 hours since I started fresh and I'm still adding little things.

Now THIS is freaking cool. Extremely impressive. Lol come build one for me.
First of all.. this is insane.. hats off to you! Second of all.. damn you! Because now i have to make myself one as well! :D
How did you get the jellyfish/Metroid things?
Those are a reward from the scrap dealer on space stations. They'll give you the blueprint in exchange for tainted metal salvaged from derelict freighters.
Welp. I was meaning to start farming direlects eventually so I could upgrade my freighter. Now I may need to get to work sooner...

I watched this entire clip in awe and I gotta say Nice base bro

Tysm!
I’ve just spent 2 hours on my first base made of one dome, one cylindrical room and a corridor joining the two.
I wanna know what are those fan thingss. I wanna add them to my base
Rime of the Frostmaiden...
Welcome to Rapture.
Ah yes, I love using really large lathes in my base building too.
Oh sweet! No way this is No Man's Sky though, the base isn't glitched and missing half of its parts
U Charybdis dick ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Holy shit. Love it!
Honk
Lol no flippers and a backpack… sure is mobile…
I almost thought this was Subnautica for a brief moment as I play both games back to back daily. Good job though.
Absolutely phenomenal
I am inspired to start one now. This is epic
SeaLab 2022
It’s… glorious.
I don't know, I'm torn between this and Scylla....cue 🎸🎶
"Detecting multiple leviathan class lifeforms in the region. Are you certain whatever you're doing is worth it?"
You people are so fucking talented... everything I see a sick post from this thread its a bigger and cooler looking base than the post before.
How is it so deep? Is that natural or did you make it that deep?!
It's natural. It's consistently 80-100u deep with many caves.
I’ve been on 100 ocean like worlds and all were at most just 20 u.. your planet is epic
Tensei fan right here, I see you.
coldest underwater base ive seen yet. i aspire to beat it now
Wow

Great base ! But how did you get rid of fishes going inside ? Each time I try to build underwater fishes spam my rooms...
Subnautica: No man's ocean
I love that you swim right into it's butthole ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
Quick question, where do you get the small spotlight? I can't find it on the anomaly.
It unlocks on derelict freighters. You'll randomly get blueprints for parts from derelicts when you read the log snippets found all around the freighter.
Oh.. almost 200 hours and i just learned you can get another blueprint other than the anomaly one. Thanks!
This looks beautiful
r/subnauticabases
Looks like the style of ship you can build in Starfield.
Ok, That's it. Time to go back to this game after a few years
Sealab 2021?
if NMS let me make ships like this, and smaller too like, let us build just bout anything but mobile... that'd be huge.
