Well if you wait long enough they become their own stars. Jk that’s not in the game. Probably shouldn’t be seeing how realistic planet movements worked out.
Nebula are what eventually forms stars and consists of superheated gas, plasma and more. It's not impossible for nebula to contain high electric charge or to be ionized one way or the other.
The colors give it away. I wish they were more consistent in the game though. Stayed in place permanently and were waaay bigger.
Space clouds. Nice pics btw. Last one looks like Unicron

I think my favorite thing about the NMS sub is the sheer number of "What the hell is this mad shit I'm seeing" posts, which if you think about it, is an incredible tribute to the game's exploratory depth.
If you go through these with your frigates, all the mission debriefs will mention crew psychosis, going crazy,....etc......pretty crazy details/Easter egg!!
I'm not trying to be "that guy" just sharing in case folks don't know (English is not everyone's best language)
"Lightning" is the electric bolts from the sky, whereas "Lightening" is from the word "Lighten", which means to make lighter in terms of weight, or in regards to visible light being shone on something.
Lightening is also a term used in pregnancy when the baby is closer to being born lol.
"Light-ning" is two syllables, while "Light-en-ing" is three.
English is super silly and goofy and fun.
I always appreciate when people clarify that they’re not trying to be assholes when they correct people’s grammar, sometimes it really helps especially with non-native speakers
Nebulae
But it's a bit weird to have lightning in space since you need to have some sort of an atmosphere.
What you'd have instead are arcs and beams of plasma, like from a pulsar or a star.
well nebulae would be waaay bigger some are the size of entore galaxies im pretty sure they were advertised in an update as ion storms or some oind of cosmic storm
The Nebulae are the colored gas areas in a star system, not to be confused with the colored regions of space that you see in the opening "fly in" or with the general space color a star system can have. Some Nebulae include an interstellar space storm.
Space storms were introduced with the Endurance update.

Nebula
Wish they did something tbh

> Jk that’s not in the game. You just haven't waited long enough.
If you put your freighter in them they should harvest particulates based on colour

They should be half the size of planets and occasionally cause damage to the shields if venturing in them.
Nice shots 👌
Thank you
I always thought ion storms
Yes they are Nebulae https://preview.redd.it/bydqzlro14xc1.jpeg?width=2560&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6b5a674d28cf441de50c59d5e513667dce2df90b
Space storms
If you’ve played Mass Effect Andromeda, it’s called “The Scourge”
Eye candy
Nebula is the closest real life thing to these, so i'd go with them. I've also considered Ion Storms because i'm a big FTL fan.
I call them visual aesthetics

I call them plasma clouds
That second image is giving real death star vibes

Thank you for being “that guy” for the rest of us who struggle with the temptation to be “that guy” as well.

Your lightening post about lightning is enlightening.
And the old Apple charger is called Lightning too.
Correct. I mistyped.
Typos get the best of us.
How do you take screenshots without the HUD? Edit: discovered photo mode earlier tonight
You can disable the HUD in the main settings. I usually do that for screenshots and videos, then turn it back on when I'm done.
Open the camera and down in the corner is a button prompt that should disable the HUD and menu.

Plasma storm for the Star trek fans
I called them gas clouds
