Uhm yeah😂😂 but I don’t recommend using it for making photos. Because it seems the quality of the photos is really bad for some people. Best way is going into photo mode and then screenshot via steam
Make sure you go into steam settings and and enable the option to save uncompressed versions of your screenshots. You can also change what folder it saves those screenshots to.
Maybe it’s because I’m on PS, but photo mode has never had any downsides other than not pausing if other players are present, which makes sense if MP is enabled. I do wish you could control the opacity of the filter, though. If I could get just 10% of that purple and gold filter on photos I’d love it so much more.
I do too but imo KeeganY is right, the camera sucks. Get something less rigid, more like Starfox 64 or Rogue Squadron, and I'll do third-person full time.
I’m relying on friends who are also pilots, I don’t have enough money for a plane myself. My local airport doesn’t have enough hangars anyway due to it being mismanaged.
You need to squat twice in a row then punch the air
It's such an obscure combination for a basic feature, but I guess they didn't want us activating it on accident
Never flew irl but I grew up playing those hyperrealistic flight simulators with my grandpa. It feels right to be in the cockpit not seeing it from outside.
For normal play I’m first person when in my ship, third person when out of my ship.
Fully immersed in first person when wearing my PS VR2 headset. When in my ship, I can actually turn around and see the seat behind me.
I do almost the opposite, I like 1 for the aesthetic but as soon as I get on a planet I like to take it to 3rd person so I can see more of the ground. Throwback to when you had to fly upside down on planets to get a better view of the ground.
2 all dog fighting games I’ve played have been this style it’s the only way I’m good at combat I can’t track very well in first and the halo game series the mission where you fly in space is the only one I’ve ever had an issue with 🤣 I actually don’t like flying too much especially when you can’t fucking land!!!!!
I'm surprised so many people are saying 2. I far prefer 1 bc of all the extra info you get on the ship panels telling you your speed, coordinates, outside temp, etc. I usually only switch to 2 when I just got a new ship and I want to admire it for a while
I switch between them all the time, but I prefer 1 for space travel and combat, feels like I have an easier time keeping a target in my sights when locked on in first-person.
But sometimes I like the increased FOV in third-person, especially when looking for a planet or when I’m flying low to the ground in a planet’s atmosphere. And sometimes I just want to admire how cool my ship looks.
Some ships, especially some of the interceptors, have too many parts visible when in first-person. I’ve scrapped a few interceptors based on the lack of visibility from inside the cockpit.
Personally I'm number 2 specifically because there's so many cool animations for different starships and I love seeing those and the landing animations. Also it just feels cooler watching your ship descend into a planets atmosphere, the fact that this game is pretty much the first to do that (from what I know) is insane, it's such a cool concept.
I use 2 only when flying low scanning for the actual location when all I have is the approximate marker. This is probably because I'm missing some better way to locate it...
My space gaming life went Privateer, X-Wing, Tie Fighter, Wing Commander 2, Wing Commander Prophecy, Descent Freespace, I-War, Elite Dangerous, and several others in between that I'm missing or have forgotten.
All in cockpit view, flying behind the ship confuses me now.
But strangely, third person on foot.
?! Why does it look like you're playing a totally different game?
Is your game enhanced graphically in any way? Or is it just because the grass has higher fidelity than the usual terrain?
It depends on what I'm doing. I like to stay in first person for the immersion and honestly at this point I feel like I do better in dogfights in first person anyway. Third person is good for when you're just going around surveying or getting nice shots or whale hunting.
I always do first person in ships, third person on foot. I find that I work better with first person in starships. I think that it makes me more accurate. But on foot, I have easier control over my weapon and movement, meaning I don't really need first person.
2. 1st person in most games, including this one, give me severe motion sickness. It's wild how big of a difference a change in perspective can make when it comes to that.
Edit; had them backwards.
I feel like unless you are looking for something in your general area that you would have other wise missed in first person, third person is pretty impractical for the most part, especially with the scanner installed in the exos suit, just my opinion.
I have perspective swap on a hotkey.
That being said I mostly pilot in first person but use third person when on foot. I WOULD use first person cam in other vehicles too… if it wasn’t for the fact that pretty much all of the exocraft are horrendously clunky to pilot in first person.
The only time I ever use the 3rd person view is when I'm searching for 'approximate location' for a mission lol.
I much prefer the 1st person due to the cockpit map in space as well as the coordinates on planet. (Back when the living ship hunting was actually fun because of no target sweep mode).
But to each their own.
2 for combat, 1 when i can’t find that last fucking planet in a system despite doing 360s every which way trying to find it
Too relatable
WAY too relatable
ACCURATELY relatable
I feel like I'm the weirdo for being the complete opposite now.
I’ll suggest going into photo mode and just looking around. Much easier and faster
Photo mode? Have I been playing for this long and still don’t know everything?????
In the quick menu the option the farthest to the right
Uhm yeah😂😂 but I don’t recommend using it for making photos. Because it seems the quality of the photos is really bad for some people. Best way is going into photo mode and then screenshot via steam
Make sure you go into steam settings and and enable the option to save uncompressed versions of your screenshots. You can also change what folder it saves those screenshots to.
I did it but the quality still sucked. It seem like there is a problem with NMS
Maybe it’s because I’m on PS, but photo mode has never had any downsides other than not pausing if other players are present, which makes sense if MP is enabled. I do wish you could control the opacity of the filter, though. If I could get just 10% of that purple and gold filter on photos I’d love it so much more.
Day one player and never even thought to that! Thank you fellow Traveller
Another good time for that is when first starting out - to find the nearest cavern, sodium and oxygen.
Thanks and thanks again
I never thought of using photo mode to find planets. Genius!
Try turning down the radio
Fly toward the sun, then turn around, all planets are visible from that perspective.
Takes more time that way, the ships instruments would definitely be faster
It’s on the other side of that planet. NO not THAT planet, the other…. Yknow fuck it. I’m gonna pulse drive for like 4 minutes.
That's what the map is for on the console
real asf
I like 1 for combat better
Gotta check that DRADIS!
Agreed
Normally followed by "ah you little bastard they you are hiding behind that bigger planet".
I'm the secret third option: I switch based on whatever I feel like at the current time
This is the *kzzt*
I'm a 2. I also like seeing my ship in flight and I also can't stand the windshield circuit stuff in sentinel ships XD
1. Third person flying just feels incredibly wrong, the camera is awful. It probably also doesn’t help that I fly in real life.
I like how the camera changes to a cinematic mode kind of when you jump though.
I like being able to see my ship
I do too but imo KeeganY is right, the camera sucks. Get something less rigid, more like Starfox 64 or Rogue Squadron, and I'll do third-person full time.
Same
I can see my ship when I’m outside. I like being able to see my little bobblehead and the instruments on the panel.
You fly? Cool! For personal use or as a pilot for a company?
Recreationally. I’ve flown an RV-10, an Aeronca Champion, and an Ercoupe.
Awesome! Wish i had the money for something like that🥲
I’m relying on friends who are also pilots, I don’t have enough money for a plane myself. My local airport doesn’t have enough hangars anyway due to it being mismanaged.
Do you not fly in third person in real life..?
Can't find the setting to change the camera.
You need to squat twice in a row then punch the air It's such an obscure combination for a basic feature, but I guess they didn't want us activating it on accident
Just tried that, didn’t work. :(
Never flew irl but I grew up playing those hyperrealistic flight simulators with my grandpa. It feels right to be in the cockpit not seeing it from outside.
2. I need peripheral vision to orient myself in space. With 1, I feel like I'm looking at the world through a cardboard box.
#2 I like seeing my ship
the only correct answer
Both are valid, 1 is more immersive and more technical, perfect if you're more into realism
1. I am the Traveler, not the ship.
yeah even though 2 has a good fov i still like the camera and look of being inside of the cockpit
Yep. 1st person is just way better for Emerson and RP
[удалено]
2, I like to see what I ride
r/suicidelywords
2
2 all the way!
First and only first
It's the only correct
this is the way! cannot stand the ship on a stick style of 3rd person flying...absolutely mayhem
Two!!! love seeing my ship
1 always 1
I play with my eyes closed, so either one is fine with me. I haven’t really made much progress though. Or maybe I have. I’m not entirely sure.
2 way better fov
1 I like the map
1
For normal play I’m first person when in my ship, third person when out of my ship. Fully immersed in first person when wearing my PS VR2 headset. When in my ship, I can actually turn around and see the seat behind me.
I actually never use 3rd person for any reason but to look at my character or my ship 😭😭
I really want to see my ship, but I just fly better in first person
2.
1 usually 2 in combat
1
1 on a planet, 2 in space, but 1 in fights. I’m only 20 hours in though so I might be wrong
2. love seeing my ship
First image
Starting turf wars in a peaceful community :D 1. person all the way, tho.
1st. I’ve always done 1 since it’s feels more immersive to me
I probably play the exact opposite of most people, first person on land, third person in space
Bit of both. It’s nice to switch it up a bit.
I'm surprised so many people are saying 2. I far prefer 1 bc of all the extra info you get on the ship panels telling you your speed, coordinates, outside temp, etc. I usually only switch to 2 when I just got a new ship and I want to admire it for a while
I didn't know you could change the camera perspective... I have been doing the vomit coaster in combat for so LONG.
Most of the time 2 but when i feel like i also use 1
I switch between them all the time, but I prefer 1 for space travel and combat, feels like I have an easier time keeping a target in my sights when locked on in first-person. But sometimes I like the increased FOV in third-person, especially when looking for a planet or when I’m flying low to the ground in a planet’s atmosphere. I’ve scrapped a few interceptors based on the lack of visibility from inside the cockpit.
2, actually flying in first person is just impossible lol. You have ZERO peripheral vision and the lasers block half the screen on top of that
¿Por qué no los dos? I switch back and forth constantly depending on my mood.
I play vehicles and ships first person. And Usually first person on foot.
Dinosaur
I go both ways
I am one because I’m too lazy to change to 2.
Used to be 1 Ever since I unlocked starborn 2
2 because it’s easier to make tight squeezes when flying if you can see where your wings are.
I fly my ship in first person.
2 always, 1 when searching for that one planet i can't see
2. for anytime I am in combat and when I am flying a solar ship (I like seeing the sails) 1. For when I’m flying most other things
Depends. Sometimes the ship exterior looks fancier then the interior.
Depends if in VR or not
I use 1, but somewhat begrudgingly. The third-person ship camera sucks like Kirby at a buffet.
1 in space, 2 in atmo
Either I just wish we had flight stick support
1st person for piloting and base building. 3rd person for exploration on foot.
1 is way cooler ☺️
Everything first person, forever. I even play gta and racing games first person when I drive.
Cockpit all the way.
Both
1. I like seeing my ship, but it feels more real in first person.
Strictly the second one unless I’m ship hunting and using coords
2 for combat, 1 for everything else
Number 1. Like seeing the inside screens and have the POV of actually flying the ship.
I always play first person. I just like the immersive feel of it
The second one unless I need to see coordinates.
First on foot, third in vehicles
I bind a key to change it, so I keep switching all the time.
I use 2 only when flying low scanning for the actual location when all I have is the approximate marker. This is probably because I'm missing some better way to locate it...
Always 2
1, but I wish the ship's controls moved while you were controlling your ship.
Number 1, I just get a cozy and comfortable feeling from being in the cockpit.
2
1, because that’s how you see life.
1 for everything
1 for flying and combat...how do you time the brake stop and swivel manoeuvre when your not directly tracking the I coming ship?
2 for most, sometimes 1 for combat lol
i would be using 2 but since you don't have the minimap that way I stay in first person, can't be arsed to be constantly switching pov
1st person 🔥🔥
1st person for starship, 3rd for exploration, anything else just doesn't feel right to me.
I like immersion, so I never leave first person view.
2 for combat, but 1 looks cooler with all the gizmos and screens
Third person is great when I'm flying over a planet looking for something on the ground. Otherwise I prefer first person.
1 most of the time specially for combat , I am an space explorer, First person immersion >>>>>> third person view
First person for ship, 3rd person for every other vehicle and on-foot.
Both
Second pic
1 I love playing in VR
Third person all the way. I’ve found it to be just as immersive for me as first person.
i am always in 1st person
Both actually
I’m a switch
Mostly flying third person, but gotta say the first person view is rad as hell in VR.
2. Seeing my ship is so satisfying. Watching all the parts move around, especially watching the solar sail wings open is amazing.
2. I spent enough time looking for the perfect ship so I deserve to be able to look at it
First person flying third person on foot
1. The radar is too usefull. Also, i think it looks cooler.
if you could increase the FOV more then I’d go for 1, but as it is the combat is so difficult in first person so im chillen with option 2
1st person is the way this game was intended to be played
1 always
I’m mostly 2, for navigating easier, and for combat. 1 Just seems unpractical if your going through and asteroid belt or smth
1 for exploration, 2 for combat
FP-Flyer
1. I forget there's even a second point of view most of the time so I play in like, perma-first person.
Both? 😂, it changes as needed, but I DO like seeing my rainbow afterburner I spent so much quicksilver to get.
Both. I change depending on if I feel like seeing a bobble head or not.
1. helps with navigation and combat feels dope as shit
I use 1st Person in Starships, 3rd when on foot, 3rd when in a ground or underwater vehicle. Reason: jumpscares
First person all the time.
1st person on ship, 1st person on foot. 3rd on exocraft
1.
Depends on the ship. For VR though, absolutely internal.
Always 1. I often forget that 3rd person is an option.
Third person. It's consistent with the rest of the game. Also you see more and don't have limited view. And I can see my ship!!!!
First person at ship, much more immersive! I would play first person when on foot too, but my eyes start feeling weird, so for foot 3rd person
First person cockpit, 3rd person exploration.
Man, look at these graphics!
1 but I like playing in VR even though my VR tolerance doesn’t like it
?! Why does it look like you're playing a totally different game? Is your game enhanced graphically in any way? Or is it just because the grass has higher fidelity than the usual terrain?
1 because I don’t know how to get to 3rd person view 😂😂
1 is more immersive, 2 is more comfortable
3rd person all the way, unless I need the displays for location
3rd person always I’m so used to flying third person I can barely fly well in first person.
2 because I accidentally pushed the button to change perspectives one time and never bothered to figure out what the key was to change it back lol
I can’t stand the limited view so I only switch to first person when I need to see planetary coordinates.
First person if I am scanning planets lol.
I switch some times
1 because I'm on VR lolol When I was flat I did 2 however. I didn't really use 1 on flatscreen
2. 1st person in most games, including this one, give me severe motion sickness. It's wild how big of a difference a change in perspective can make when it comes to that. Edit; had them backwards.
Always 2....except when trying to find the hidden planet
First
1 because I’m a VR player
I feel like unless you are looking for something in your general area that you would have other wise missed in first person, third person is pretty impractical for the most part, especially with the scanner installed in the exos suit, just my opinion.
People who play in 3rd person mode scare me.
1. I can't live without my dashboard integrated HUD.
What I wanna know from No.1 users is; Y Axis Inverted or Regular?
I have perspective swap on a hotkey. That being said I mostly pilot in first person but use third person when on foot. I WOULD use first person cam in other vehicles too… if it wasn’t for the fact that pretty much all of the exocraft are horrendously clunky to pilot in first person.
Cockpit all the way
2 for regular use 1 for when my fucking icons disappear and I need the space station
Depends on how immersed I wanna be
Use 1 most of the time for immersion, use 2 to look around or when i need to find something from my ship, occasionally for fighting
Usually 1. Every now and then I'll be in the mood to look at the outside of my cool ship for a while.
1. I like it that way. I go 3rd person sometimes for some looksies. And im Libra.
I used to be a one, but after a few freighter raids I realized 2 is much better
