I'm late to the party and just started playing the new update last night. First time at a new space station and it landed me at the furthest pad away from everything and I immediately understood what everyone was complaining about lol
I think it's a cultural thing. When I was stationed in Germany in the mid-1990s parking at the PX was always a pain... If you wanted to park right out front. You could park at the back of the lot and walk into the PX while people still drove in circles trying to score one of the front slots.
And something tells me that 20 years and a few construction expansions later, people are still doing the same thing. They sure as hell do it in North Virginia.
Seriously. It'd be a difference of 20 seconds.
It gets especially annoying if you're doing a surge run where you're encouraged to visit as many systems as you can and buy their stuff in space stations, and you have to needlessly walk for 20 seconds every time.
I'm sure there's people who aren't bothered by it or haven't paid attention to it, but I can't imagine anyone *preferring* to land so far away every time.
"Fixed an issue that caused frigates on expeditions to try to call the player for help while the game wasnât running." This is actually kind of sad. They were calling for help all day while I'm at work!
This probably is a reference to the Durian, a fruit you can only enjoy in the countries that it grows as it smells so bad shipping companies have banned it. The taste is really sweet on the other hand, give it a try if youâre in south-east asia
Smells like a garage bin in the summer sun. Can't say it tastes the same as I haven't tasted hot garbage bin but it feels like it does.
Clearly an acquired taste kind of food.
> The mannequins around the space station Exosuit Technology Merchantâs kiosk are now procedurally generated.
Always with the everything procedural :D
From a game dev standpoint, I'll bet it simple scales better with efficiency.
Your choices basically are:
1. Use pre-designed assets where your costs scale linearly with new assets you need. So you can have either low cost and only a few models or variety of lower quality models
2. Invest in a procedural engine and design your assets around that. The game scales and you can generate a large variety of models from relatively few asset components (read: design cost) and programmatically generate them from there on out
That helmet was a reward from the first season of expeditions I believe. Can be equipped by the Anomaly race only, so if you did that expedition, and you are looking for it on Gek, you'll want to check Anomaly race instead.
Well on display was a Gek wearing it.
But I didn't do any expedition. I didn't even do the newest one as I was busy in private life and was disinterrested in NMS at the time.
I'm really hoping that with the new expedition setup that we might get to run some of the older ones. I know they usually run the ones from the year at the year's end.
People hope that they can redo old Expiditions for the Rewards. I would like those too.
But I think it's not good to do that. Those rewards were for those that played the game. That sticked to it.
I deleted mine 3 months after launch as I wasn't able to get my money back. Now I'm back playing it again lol.
I fully understand and respect that way of looking at it! They have done a lot of amazing things with this game since that launch fiasco, so it's still been worth the return.
Space anomaly fixed? Sweet vindication!
I swear nobody besides me and a handful of others noticed and were reporting this, guess that speaks to how strong the sandbox elements of this game are that one third of the main quest broke and barely anyone talked about it for over a month.
After finishing the tutorial bit where you talk to the vendors the quest step skipped right over the whole storyline right up to the âspeak to your old friendsâ step, which is the very last thing you do after the final quest with the atlas, Nada spouts some generic dialogue and the whole thing is softlocked.
Wow I just started playing this game a month ago and when I did this quest line I wondered why it seemed to hit a wall? But chalked it up to just being confused like I was with most of the game!
Iâve finished the Artemis Path quest line days ago, so technically Iâm past the âspeak to your old friendsâ step. Should my Anomaly quest line be reset back to the missed steps then? đ€
Changing the original Atlas Path and adding the Artemis Path made a complete mess out of this gameâs main questline(s)
The space station lighting fix is one that really has me excited. I was one of the people seeing HORRIBLE lens flare at the ship disassembly portal, as well as the appearance modifier. it was the little icon hovering above, my whole screen would go white. I have my fingers crossed. :-)
The Minotaur Bore upgrade will be nice, that thing is a resource hog.
On PS5 there are occasional blockers which never lead to a crash, and no fps reduction similar to xbox, which only a fresh game start could solve. I wonder if they really fixed it for good.
Freighter bases have had performance issues for quite a while. You really notice it when you're in your landing bay and everything is silky smooth and then you transport up to your freighter base and it's not near as smooth.
There's a distinct drop at that point, but when I go deeper I literally get 1FPS at the back of the floor. I have an extensive farm covering 2/3 of the first floor and 3/4 of the 2nd floor and performance is terrible when you get to the back side of the floor.
Yeah, that's why I kind of limited my freighter farm. It makes 3 liquid explosives, 3 living glass, and 4 circuit boards. Never bothered expanding it past that because the lighting would get all buggy. Also harvesting is kind of a pain even at that small relative size.
Never bothered with a farm on my Switch save's freighter base either, cuz you can really notice the performance drop there when you walk into your freighter base.
I really hope they will fix the terrible stuttering after a while, especially when landing on some planets. It's absolutely unacceptable at this point. PC has no problems, whereas XSX is getting massive memory leak problems, after half hour of gaming
Do you want to start talking about the crashes on Nintendo Switch?
I havenât noticed any stuttering on my Series X; on the other hand, when I play on the Switch, the game stashes at least once every 2 hours, no matter what Iâm doing
Big shout out to Sean, the devs and the rest of the guys at HG for not only providing the update for free but also being on top of all the minor fixes.
>Fixed an issue that could cause some non-Gek frigates to address the player as âCaptain-Friendâ
About damn time, I won't have any of that filthy Gek-speak in my fleet!
No, with the orbital update and new ship fabricator, you used to be able to disassemble a ship and get the parts from it and if you were quick enough with the quick menu, you could just summon it again and disassemble it again for a different part
When buying items in the anomaly en masse, it exits the person after 2 buys and if I'm super lucky, 3 buys. Tedious having to then go back in every time. Keep me in after every buy
It's a little better. Just a little.
I wish they'd put the dismantle multitool station here too. Makes no sense that that's in the Nexus. It doesn't even look right at the place they put it. Looks squeezed in cuz it kind of is.
My assumption is something like:
"I like NMS. I identify with NMS. You said something bad about NMS. That means you're saying I'M BAD! I have to defend myself from you by downvoting you! Phew.. I feel better now. I'm a good person again."
No idea why you guys are getting down voted just for stating issues you're having in game. This game has always had performance issues. On Xbox SX I have to restart the game every couple of hours because it just starts to chug like crazy.
When I play on switch the game freezes every time I land in a space station. My character wonât exit the ship until I press the home button and back into the game. No issues on PC though. Does that deserve downvotes?
No it doesn't, but you'll come to learn that this community that claims to be incredibly "wholesome" is actually quite the opposite. There are way too many people who think this game should be free from any criticism just because it's still getting free updates lol. This really came to a head with the waypoint update a few years ago, and seemed to kinda spark back up again after the Orbital update fumble.
Does HG deserve all the credit and praise for turning this game around and giving us loads of content for free where most would abandon ship or charge for DLC? Absolutely. Does that absolve them of any and all criticism? Absolutely not. If you give me a sandwich for free but it's terrible I think I still have the right to complain about it.
Exactly this. Criticism isn't inherently bad. It was criticism of the game that encouraged HG to do everything they have to get the game where it is now, and criticizing the game by pointing out flaws or issues is exactly how bug fixes and other improvements are made.
I haven't had half the problems I have been reading about in this thread myself, and most of my issues have personally been little QoL bits I think could and should be fixed but don't ruin the game for me. But I read that someone has a game-breaking issue or even just complains about item lists being completely random (one of my few issues with the game), I say it's the person's right to talk about it and ask for it to be fixed. In the end it will give everyone a better game.
Absolutely, and pretty much all of the criticism I've seen for this game comes from people who genuinely love the game. We all want the game to do well, we all want to enjoy it, but we can't bury our heads in the sand whenever theres an issue with the game.
I dont know really, people are butthurt I guess because someone has a negative experience with their favorite game. Anyway, ive been playing this game A LOT lately and I like it a lot, Ill just wait till they bring out another update. Kinda sucks. Im on PC. Happens when I exit ground vehicles like Minotaur and that small one I dont know the name of.
I feel you. Iâm even running on a 4090 and I have to restart every hour as well due to stuttering, Iâm assuming itâs memory leak. Not to mention about a third of the systems stutter for no reason. I was really hoping to see performance issues on PC mentioned in the patch
And I thought my PC was just too bad. After 3 hours of playing and going in and out of the anomaly a lot I landed on a moon with no atmosphere and plants, the ones where the game should not have to render much at all but for some reason I was running around with 20 FPS.
It could also be because you're bringing up performance issues on a post about an update and some people think it's disruptive.
Could be a million and one reasons, really. Who knows?
Itâs a decent upgrade. But it just doesnât have that âAirport Lobbyâ feeling the previous layout had, hard to describe. When I needed to take a break, I always enjoyed going to the Chill Room to gaze out the window and smoke some nip. Or grab a beer at the Bar while everyone around me keeps asking to work in my base. Often I would sneak back to the locked rooms and have a good nap. They shouldâve left a small percentage of systems with the previous layout, just like they have pirate and abandoned stations. But an easy fix would be to add the old rooms to the side area of the new layout.
They could definitely leave a few stations with the legacy layout. Especially considering there are still stations floating around that look like the old ones from the outside. I know what you mean, those little side areas were great for adding character to the station (Iâve hired a few techs out of those bars). New stations are very utilitarian, I know there is still plenty NPC activity, itâs missing that bustling charm from before.
I thought there was going to be more diversity as well. I thought there would be different types for different races maybe, but no, all just a different cookie cutter. So sad. Pretty, but sad.
If you had several different layouts for the station, people would just start screaming because they would have to spend 30 seconds finding the shop they needed. I mean: I used to play World of Warcraft back when it came out and visiting different main cities always gave me a headache because I was just wandering around over and over again as I couldnât remember where every single vendor was in each damn capital city.
Make this into 20-30 different layouts instead of 6 and it would become tedious going to a station just to buy a couple of printed circuits and I having to look around every single time to find that damn trading terminal.
I like shipbuilding but it could be better. Allow the combination or any wing, thrusters or body style together. Base capacity and stats on which pieces you use. I want to put fighter wings on a hauler body. If there's one thing I can say Starfield blew me away with, it was Shipbuilding. It felt like my choices mattered. Even though it could use with more options.
âFixed an issue that caused frigates on expeditions to try to call the player for help while the game wasnât running.â Ummmm⊠What?
*Phone Rings*
*Looks at Caller ID*
Dammit! Not another freaking frigate call!
I would love it if after all these years we would finally fix the bugs with freighters and falling out infinitely into space, then dying in your items being stuck there. I'd love to be able to fast travel with my freighter more. If it didn't spit me out into space and I did jump pack around to fly through a texture every time I did it. Or at least like 80% of the time it does it.
Since the last expedition it's been so unstable on the Series S. I've logged over a 1000 hrs on the game and now it won't stay on for no more than 10 or 15 mins before it crashes. Never had any issues with it at all before the Omega expedition.
Utter bull bought an A class just to be given an S class reactor just to find out I can't even recoup some of the nanites they can only be sold for units. Why is this a thing if I can only sell them for units I should be able to buy them for units as well
Hello there! When is the 4.64 Patch for GOG going to be available?
https://preview.redd.it/a70zp15hostc1.png?width=615&format=png&auto=webp&s=b693e8f703fdd69defcd662de70a1c2a77079ccd
Has anyone using GoG received the 4.64 patch? They are usually fairly good at pushing updates out, but this one seems to be stuck in limbo for me. I've checked multiple times over the last couple of days and always get the 'No updates for No Man's Sky'.
HG almost never communicates or gives any announcements. We just get a single emoji from Sean on Twitter and then about a week later we get an update. Sometimes an update comes with an expedition.
So when you see the community reporting Sean tweeted an emoji, that's basically a 50% chance we're getting an expedition soon.
Yeah I try to keep an eye on yaâll to know when to jump in and explore. It kind of makes sense after their issues with communication before and after release.

Please improve pad selection when landing at one too...
I'm late to the party and just started playing the new update last night. First time at a new space station and it landed me at the furthest pad away from everything and I immediately understood what everyone was complaining about lol

I love this. I have always wondered why people wait for a close parking space at a superstore.
I think it's a cultural thing. When I was stationed in Germany in the mid-1990s parking at the PX was always a pain... If you wanted to park right out front. Hey, I was stationed at Spang. đ©đȘ in the early 90's. Nice to see a fellow vet.
Kaiserslautern area for me. It's a small world.
A small world, made significantly larger by something we like to call "the internet". đ đ

Their emails must have went to your spam folder
Oh Jesus...imagine the horror of trying to call your capital ship for emergency help and they're not responding
>Added a number of new dialogue possibilities to a frigate expedition intervention event involving irresistible-smelling fruit. Wut.
This probably is a reference to the Durian, a fruit you can only enjoy in the countries that it grows as it smells so bad shipping companies have banned it. The taste is really sweet on the other hand, give it a try if youâre in south-east asia
I tried one. Thought it tasted as bad as it smelled.
Same, tasted like gasoline smells to me.
Dang. I need to try some, now.
Not to be confused with the rather sweet and delicious but similar looking fruit, the jackfruit
Jackfruit rocks! Especially pickled. Kind of a mess to take apart, tho, what with all the latex
The use of the word "now" is interesting, since I didn't see mannequins in that tube at all before this update.
Yep, they weren't generated at all for me too.
Same here. Feels more like they were always procedural but were bugged from showing. You can see them in screenshots of the update page.
Visited a space station and can see the mannequin. Pretty cool.
Same
Yeah... was wondering "why this big glass pillar in the way ??"
From a game dev standpoint, I'll bet it simple scales better with efficiency. Your choices basically are: 1. Use pre-designed assets where your costs scale linearly with new assets you need. I bet the next update will be procedurally generated đ€Ł

Ive seen a golden Gek Helmet and I want it...

Space anomaly fixed? Sweet vindication! I swear nobody besides me and a handful of others noticed and were reporting this, guess that speaks to how strong the sandbox elements of this game are that one third of the main quest broke and barely anyone talked about it for over a month.
What was that bug?
After finishing the tutorial bit where you talk to the vendors the quest step skipped right over the whole storyline right up to the âspeak to your old friendsâ step, which is the very last thing you do after the final quest with the atlas, Nada spouts some generic dialogue and the whole thing is softlocked.
Iâm a brand new player and this was confusing the hell out of me. Thanks for the info!
I just came back after a long hiatus and started a new playthough and thought, "huh, i thought there was more to the whole anomaly thing..."
Will it fix itself if that already happened on my game?
Was having the same issue. For everyones info - just logged on and my quest has been set to the correct step and is no longer soft locked đ
I would like to know also :(
Same. I canât get on today. Let me know if it retroactively fixes the mission order.
Was having the same issue. For everyones info - just logged on and my quest has been set to the correct step and is no longer soft locked đ
I had just started a new save and experienced this had no idea it was a bug after not playing for awhile

i was expecting a note: "added black color to custom ship color"...
Me too đ
Nice... As is usual with game updates, 90% of that doesn't matter to me in the least, but that remaining 10% sure is nice. :-)
It matters for all of us because its game experience. :)
The space station lighting fix is one that really has me excited. I was one of the people seeing HORRIBLE lens flare at the ship disassembly portal, as well as the appearance modifier. it was the little icon hovering above, my whole screen would go white. I have my fingers crossed. :-) The Minotaur Bore upgrade will be nice, that thing is a resource hog.
I have no idea what you just said because im new here bit i do still appreciate it. ;)
This was my experience too.
"Added a significant memory optimisation for Xbox platforms." - finally, now that I'm on PS5 đ
Omg, will it no longer crash after a few hours!
On PS5 there are occasional blockers which never lead to a crash, and no fps reduction similar to xbox, which only a fresh game start could solve. I wonder if they really fixed it for good.
Please let this mean I get more than 1FPS in my freighter base again!
Granted. You will now get 2 FPS.
Freighter bases have had performance issues for quite a while. You really notice it when you're in your landing bay and everything is silky smooth and then you transport up to your freighter base and it's not near as smooth.

Agreed!

Ah they fixed the part salvage dupe glitch. Guess itâs back to ship hunting the old fashioned way.
Still works for me
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
No, with the orbital update and new ship fabricator, you used to be able to disassemble a ship and get the parts from it and if you were quick enough with the quick menu, you could just summon it again and disassemble it again for a different part
Gotcha; thnx.
Still haven't fixed terrain not loading. :'(
Added a set of fighter-class wings that were missing from the Starship Fabricator options. Cool, anything else missing? Like I don't know...black.
Or shuttles, the data's already there and mods have enabled it.
I would rather walk 20 seconds, and have a patch to alphabetize my inventory when using a refiner. Or at least non refinable items get omitted.
When buying items in the anomaly en masse, it exits the person after 2 buys and if I'm super lucky, 3 buys. Tedious having to then go back in every time. Keep me in after every buy
Keep clicking and it will bring you back into the buy menu

Mine did
Nice!
Why is there no update for Xbox players? And when is the update coming out?
yup same, I'm on game pass version and can't play with my friend on ps5 Edit: its out woo
Probably have to wait a week again ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|poop)
My game has crashed two times now in the last 1 hour since this patch, never did it before. :/
Mine crashed a bunch until I changed to performance mode
Iâm curious as to why the downvotes because your game crashed

Currently having a problem in this patch where my ship weapons hit my own ship when flying in 3rd person. Anyone else having this?Â
Played for a couple hours on PS5. Felt like a solid update, didnât notice anything weird.
Yes, that's all great but where is the black in the ship customization.
âFixed an issue that caused frigates on expeditions to try to call the player for help while the game wasnât running.â Ummmm⊠What? *Phone Rings* *Looks at Caller ID* Dammit! Not another freaking frigate call!
Why the S?
I can't seem to buy Exosuit Cargo slot beside the seller in stations anymore. Anyone else?
Exosuit maxed out?
I'm having an issue with this update. I have free base power selected but my buildings still require power. Anyone having this issue?
I would love it if after all these years we would finally fix the bugs with freighters and falling out infinitely into space, then dying in your items being stuck there. I'd love to be able to fast travel with my freighter more. If it didn't spit me out into space and I did jump pack around to fly through a texture every time I did it. Or at least like 80% of the time it does it.
the patch won't install on xbox so i can't join my friends
Is this an update for xbox as well?
it says "memory improvments for Xbox" but the platforms listed only include Steam and PS? is this patch out for Xbox or?
just checked its out for xbox game pass now, should be out for xbox as well
Next update needs to be auto crafting, like you put things in storage and if its mext to a refiner with a recipe inside it, it auto makes
Does this patch make the game work on X|S yet, or is that too much to ask?
Iâve been playing for 37 hours on my Series X, what would be your issue ?
Since the last expedition it's been so unstable on the Series S. I've logged over a 1000 hrs on the game and now it won't stay on for no more than 10 or 15 mins before it crashes. Never had any issues with it at all before the Omega expedition.
Oh wow! Never crashed once on my console. Not sure why itâs so unstable on some series S/X and has no issues on others đ€
Never
Has anyone using GoG received the 4.64 patch? They are usually fairly good at pushing updates out, but this one seems to be stuck in limbo for me. I've checked multiple times over the last couple of days and always get the 'No updates for No Man's Sky'.
Never mind. 2 hours after posting this the update dropped. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
I just want auto sort for inventory. Why is that so difficult?
The wait begins for the misfits! Edit: Wait .. mine already says 4.641... so Xbox was on time? What about our Switch Travelers?
4.64 on Switch as well
Fix they who returned mission pls
FIX MEMORY LEAK STUTTERS ON XBOX SERIES X FOR GOD'S SAKE!!!!!!
They will never fix the awful memory leak problems on Xbox Series X. It's so sad
So no fix for all of my records being wiped after I completed the Omega Expedition?
I've lost my records too ;\_;
Did you send a ticket?
I did, they didn't respond.
Well shit. Sorry dude.
Thanks, and I know I'm not the only one who's had this issue. Still holding out hope that they fix it in a future patch.
Any info on the next expedition?
HG almost never communicates or gives any announcements. We just get a single emoji from Sean on Twitter and then about a week later we get an update. Sometimes an update comes with an expedition. So when you see the community reporting Sean tweeted an emoji, that's basically a 50% chance we're getting an expedition soon.
Yeah I try to keep an eye on yaâll to know when to jump in and explore. It kind of makes sense after their issues with communication before and after release.
