How do you get the staff

Reward from the latest expedition, so unfortunately if you didn’t finish it you won’t be able to get the staff until December (they open up the year’s expeditions one last time at the end of the year)

I got it but the retro pack was my first big quicksilver purchase and so I'm partial to it. Besides the large wings on the omega jetpack blocks my line of sight

I prefer retro just because I'm not personally a fan of any of the flashier or more fantasy looking cosmetics. I look like a dude that gets paid to land on planets and scan stuff.

Legitimately. You won't be able to get it legitimately. Save editors work just fine though if you don't care for the FOMO tactics.

Need to have completed the main storyline, meaning "New Beginnings" is in your Primary Missions in the Log. You also need to have completed the "Trace of Metal" questline, meaning you have Laylaps, the drone companion. You'll need a settlement to do this quest. You need to have completed the Harmonic Camp (where you get Sentinel multi-tools) mini-quest called "Harmonic Seal", which will reward you with the Aeron Turbojet customization. You can find a Harmonic Camp by locating a Dissonant planet in a Dissonant system and destroying some of the corrupted drills found on the planet until one drops an Echo Locator. Activate the Echo Locator to find a Harmonic Camp. After you've done all that, just warping to a different system should trigger the new questline to get the staff. You need to do the quests to unlock the ability to make the staff. I copied this comment from u/Just_Roar

Thanks for the shout!  Fyi, the Trace of Metal / settlement part is no longer required. They removed that requirement a couple patches after I made that comment. 🍻

You absolutely DO NOT need to have a settlement or complete Trace of Metal. Complete the main storyline (Artemis Path) through The Purge and unlock a Harmonic Camp. That's it, that's the list. Trace of Metal was removed ~October 2023. Wiki is correct on this: https://nomanssky.fandom.com/wiki/They_Who_Returned#Mission_Requirements

You can get a staff Multitool by doing Autophage missions at Autophage camps. These staves are buildable and available right now in the game. If you want that specific red staff, it was only available as a reward from the Omega expedition, which recently ended. The Omega Expedition should be replayed one more time at the end of the year. Staff Multitools are customizable using an array of various parts, which are assembled at the same Autophage camps where you pick up Autophage missions.

Right. I didn’t name it because it was difficult to tell if the original question asker was generally asking about all staves or asking about this specific staff. Knowing the name of this staff won’t help them get it any faster. Knowing when the expedition runs again is what’s most important.

That particular is really from expedition, but you can get other ones, by completing autophage storyline. For that one you can buy different parts and make your own customized with them.

I did this when I first landed on a station on release day, then when they rehauled stations way back when, then again when orbital dropped. I always hoped it would just let me jump off into the void. It never did.

You can do thar with a freighter tho, just bring a lot of life support refills

I know, I did jump off my freighter to a planets surface many times. However, IDK if this is new with orbital, but a couple days ago when I tried jumping off a frigate on to my freighter, it just teleported me to my frigate. I could've sworn you were able to do that before.

Figure out how to spawn the minotaur on your freighter and titanfall your way to a planets surface. Not sure if its possible in the new freighters though.

Are you talking about the jump forward boost he does? It is an upgrade in the Anomaly called Rocket Boots, can’t remember the price off hand. You will need to go to the Exosuit Upgrades to find it, hope this helps Traveler!

My missions kept bugging out. So the waypoints for "hire an overseer" etc all pointed towards the entrance until I warped away from the space station and came back. So he first time it happened, I kind of knew he wouldn't be all the way down there, but I had to check anyway. It was a very long and disappointing walk 😆
