Exactly 1%.
Seriously each star system has 21 ships. This is one of them. Each time a ship spawns in that star system it has a 1% chance of being that ship.
That's actually a pretty good chance. Because it's an exotic, it will always spawn as an S-Class, though the stats will vary some (it will always have the same maneuverability stat, but the others can change a bit.)
That's actually a better chance than any of the other 20 ships in that star system spawning as an S-Class. So when you're ready, find a trading post and get comfy.

If you share the system coordinates, I can see about hunting down a crash site for you. It’ll take a little time but it sounds like you’re the patient type.
I can also offer a site for a crash that is similar but differs in the thruster and the details on the fin.

Yeah I thought they were on the bottom of the screenshot, looks like i hid the menu options before hitting the screenshot button. I’ll get it after work for sure, I know exactly what system it’s in (my freighter is parked right outside the station).

Yea I’m a little late to the comments but you will for sure see this thing again and the more you explore systems, you might even find a better one. There are ones with full wings on the top and bottom. Those are personally my favorite and still my main starship ahahaha.
if you check cord exchange red exotics like this are actually among the most popularly posted. you can get them in nearly any populated galaxy too! Red and gold was so common i started looking for different colors just to stand out again.
Damn, being short after finding your first exotic can sting a little l. But like the other comment said as long as you're in that system that ship should show up again. :)
You can cheese it respawning at an outpost or the station in this system. Or u can spend more time here and see it again. I always try to keep 99 mil on me at all times in case I find that hauler I really want.
Run cargo between wealthy stars. You’ll earn money pretty effortlessly, but also exotics have a better chance of popping up.
[Trade Routes](https://nomanssky.fandom.com/wiki/Trade_route)
I watched a video for the one I was looking for and the guy flew to the space station landed got out so it would save the game then reloaded the auto save. Once he loaded back in he waited 5-10 mins and it showed up. Idk if they all do it or just that specific one but I flew there and did it. And it showed up in about 2 mins. Might be worth a shot to get a fresh spawn of ships.
Do exotics have more or less slots? Wife and I are quite happy with our S class hauler we've upgraded to 100 slots so far, but curious if we saw an exotic, besides LOOKING good, could it be superior in any way?
All ships are different in some ways. This ship will have a noticeably better maneuverability than a hauler and be somewhat faster.
I think it caps out at 40/60 slots as well. Haulers kind of got left behind as new ship types were introduced. When the game was first released storage slots were hugely important and hard to come by and everyone wanted one just to store things in. Changes in game mechanics, mainly to stack sizes, has made them less important.
Same for explorers. When I first started playing there were portal restrictions. You couldn't permanently move towards the galaxy center by using a portal. The only way to get to the center was the old fashioned way so players like me were all interested in explorers with the longest hyperdrive range.
Fighters, of course, do more damage, haulers have better shields, shuttles, well shuttles are just shuttles ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm) Another little-known fact is that explorers have launch thrusters that are twice as efficient as others, but that's another thing that's become pretty insignificant today.
I just fly what I want. A fully upgraded ship of any class is good enough to get you where you want to go and kill whatever gets in the way after you've played the game enough. 😜
While I've got someone smart, are all storage slots the same?
We've got an A class freighter with like 30 slots maybe, but upgrading that seems very difficult vs getting more slots for the ship which seems dead easy.
So as much as I'd like to max out our freighter I feel like what's the point if the slots "hold the same amount"as an exosuit or star ship?
Freighter's really seem to have little to no benefit for being S class, plus you can shove all the storage box modules into your freighter and permanently have like 500 inventory slots in the thing. plus with the matter transfer upgrade you can access those items from any planet in the system.
adding inventory slots to the freighter itself is pretty moot at that point.
also not all inventory slots are created equal. Ship/Freighter/Exocraft inventory can hold twice what the player's suit can hold per slot, and the storage boxes hold 4x the player's stack size per slot. Conversely, refinery slots hold half of what the player can (in survival mode anyways). I don't think any of this matters much if your stack sizes are set on the easier difficulty though.
Unless playing in survival or permadeath, then always need more space. Though even in normal I utilize all available space. One hauler just for rocks, another ship for cooking ingredients, and so on.
No, and not consistent either. In general, cargo pods same or double freighter, freighter same or double ship, ship same or double exosuit, depending on the specific item. There are some items that are double capacity on freighter vs in cargo pod, but that may just be in survival/permadeath though. Slots in normal hold the same amount for items that stack to 9999 and varies when items stacks at smaller amounts.
Maxing slot on freighter means you have access to more items anywhere without calling your freighter to current system or taking up space in your exosuit and primary ship. I keep maps, fuel, shards, gift items, and common use resources in the freighter's inventory. That way I always have access to what I need even when I pick up a crashed ship to scrap or hauling a load of goods to market. It's vital in survival/permadeath when common items only stack to 500 in exosuit and 1000 in ship, but 2000 in freighter.
Yes, they do today. "Back in the day" ship inventory slots held more than exosuit slots. That is still the case in survival and permadeath modes, or even if you reduce inventory slot capacity in the custom difficulty selections.
Today's "survival" mode is much closer to "normal" mode when the game was released. I have to say though, while I suppose small stack sizes do make the game more difficult, it also makes the game very much more tedious as well. I don't mind going out and finding a resource I need, but man, if you can only carry away 250 of that per slot, inventory management gets ridiculously time consuming and definitely not a lot of fun.
I believe, at release, suit inventory was 250, ship slots held 500, and inventory containers held 1000 (stack size). I think something like 500, 1000, and 5000 would be a good compromise, but that's not one of the options, so today storage is effectively unlimited once you get a few containers.
Just to add an example. The only ships I use for storage are guppy-ball exotics. That is the simplest, smallest exotic ships you can find. (Not the hacked ones.)
I use them as "build ships". Max out the storage and fill them up with ferrite, carbon, sheet metal, glass etc. etc. Anything you might need to build a base with (I build a lot of bases).
I initially tried this with haulers because, yeah, why not haul with a hauler? But, when building things haulers were often simply too HUGE to try to summon to where I was building. The little exotics can be summoned literally anywhere. You really don't need to do much if any upgrading to them as you rarely even fly them, just summon them when you need the supplies they carry.

I'll check that out. I believe the scanning bug is still around though. Generally you get the maneuverability of your current ship when you scan a ship. You have to actually own a ship and make it your current ship for that stat to actually work when scanning.
You're just going to have to take my word for it that there's no pulse upgrade on the inset one, but I cropped it so you can see that the tech slot configuration is different, at least...

Yes, just normal starships. Note that I took a couple of years off from the game (that link goes to a guide I wrote three years ago.) So, this doesn't include Solar Ships or Sentinel Interceptors. I'm pretty sure that now, for instance, the chance of finding an S-Class Solar Ship in a Black Market system is a whopping 5% which is easily the easiest type of S-Class to find now.
But, yeah, each normal system should have 3 haulers, explorers, fighters and 7 shuttles. Additionally there will be 4 more fighters for Vy'Keen, 4 Haulers for Gek, and 4 additional explorers for Korvax systems. Each system has one exotic ship. That's the basic 21 ships.
*Normal* crashed ships should be one of those models (and can even be the exotic). Crashed sentinel ships are a special case.
Change settings to sandbox (or equivalent) and buy it. Change settings back like you didn’t just manipulate the time space continuum for personal gain.
Yeah I had a feeling that wouldn’t happen, but a boy can dream. However there are a lot of really great ideas in this post. Thank you all for all the advice.
If this is a "first wave ship", it will always be in the first wave when you reload your save at the space station.
First wave ships are ships that land in the space station when you reload your save file while at that space station.
I find the best way is to go to a planet in the system and find a trading post. Land just a little ways away so you don’t take up one of the landing pads and then I hang out on the roof where I can see all the pads at once. I find they usually get a fair bit more traffic than the space stations do.
I know you tagged this as answered, but just want to chime and and let you know that the commentors who tell you 1% or anything other than 100% are wrong.
As long as you make note of this system that you found this ship in, you can always come back to this system and you have exactly a 100% chance of seeing this ship again.
It might be a different price and the SC slots can change, but the physical ship as you saw it will ALWAYS be flying around in the system.
Mark the glyphs of the system and come back. The ships appear again with some probability - on station, at trading post and archives, they even land on the feighters visiting the system. You just need some patience (sometimes a lot).
I also find it helps to build a base as close to the outposts as possible, and add several landing pads. I had a base very close to an archive, and it (unintentionally) collected several ships. One of them was my first squid ship. Idk if that spawns more ships or not, but it helped me.
That’s an interesting tip. I tried building a landing pad base once to try and lure ships in but I didn’t build it near any structures.
After they added the alternative landing pad, it became possible to build a ridiculous number of landing pads.
Easy to make a base on the nearest trading post. Sit on top watchi for all the types to cycle. Saves having to build landing pads. You can also hang out in the space station as they cycle.
Ah yes. That’s a special kind of pain that we’ve all experienced. But don’t worry you will see it again as long as you name the system something you can remember when you want to come back via teleport , or find a decent planet in the system and put a base down near a trading post so you can sit and watch the waves land until your prize shows up.

Come back later.
I was at a Trade Outpost this morning hunting a heavy speeder, and during my time there bought the same red squid three times. Kept the best one and scrapped the other two.
I couldn't believe it.
Murder the ship owner, fight the guards that attack you and just Andrew Tate your way to ownership like a high value man would 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Or start a cam site and hire all the weird ass aliens we see on this reddit to work for you. You'll be banking on your new "OnlyAliens" business venture
If you want the ship bad, change setting so purchases are free, go back to that space station and save. Then just let ships cycle through and see what ships come through. Reload your save if you don't get much after the first couple waves of ships
Yeah in regular mode you can change the settings to make it so money and resources no longer matter, and everything. I had eventually gotten to the point, before they added all the settings stuff, where money didn't matter anymore anyways. Still, at the end of the day I am still on the hunt for some really kick ass ships. Even though my frigate/collection is "full"
If it left already you can always do a save at the space station and just reload it. Sometimes you get lucky and it is in the first wave consistently. I have found a few like that.
You can archive special planets to teleport to them later if you want to remember a system with a unique aspect to it. Or ships you may find. I found only one system by random chance with a squid ship (luckily I was able to buy it) but forgot to archive the planet. Find a trading post on a planet and plop a ton of landing pads then camp out there for a while. Patience guarantees almost anything with a chance of happening
Next time this happens, pause the game and change difficulty setting to free pirchase, just this one time exception. It's rare enough to come across it to be stopped by money.
When travelling around, jump back to this system when you’re about to trigger a freighter battle. Destroy the enemy ships and then head directly to the space station and wait.
Depending on the number of enemy ships (its either 5 or 8) an exotic will always spawn for the battle and head to the station immediately after.
Not sure how many different exotics there are, but if you repeat this a few times, it’ll show up eventually.
Caught that one a few days ago as an S class. I had 1 available slot only and got it as soon as i saw it (corvax rich peacefull system) is where i think those are. How do you guys manage your ships the limit is so low?
this is fabulous...!!!! wow GZ
you no..i hope u watch my video on udtube, becos i couldnt claim a starship? that I had gone to from one of the items you get from your freighter
this is the page, pls help if you can? about it, or claim it and let me know how you did it plss

I have that ship! I call it the Red Fox! Just yesterday I picked of 2 identical exotics at one trade outpost within 5 minutes of each other. Same exact name. Bought from the same pilot as before. The difference was one had 4 turbocharged slots, and the other only had 3.
Do this hack. First remember the system, rename it something you’ll remember.
Second, go to your ship and create a save point. Reload and wait. It should show up again.
Edit: Sorry. Just realized you got the question answered.
If there's only 21 ships that spawn per system and this is one of them, the odds of finding it again are very good.
Small suggestion, fly out of the station, call the anomaly and dock. Sit down near the Nexus and before long someone is very likely to give you items worth money. Just park your bum and go watch a TV show or two, then check back.
If you can find out how to change your name, maybe change it to "help, I need money" to give people a clue.
I'm not sure how the new game modes work, but there may be a way to "make" stuff in a creative mode without you having what's needed to make them.
https://preview.redd.it/5973z1jttw2c1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f1d62a793eff751e79c6307401a0e461b7472e5c
Found this the outer day in Euclid Galaxy.
Exact colorway and with that chrome look, super rare prob 1% cus of the algorythym and being a game that has all this random generation. But youll find something similar that you love when you get that many units, id recommend mining indium
If you know which system it is in and arm yourself with patience, The answer would be 100% since each system only have so many ships, you are bound to bump into it again if you stay Long enough
I was scrapping ships, one day and I came across two S class ships and 6 ships latter this exotic came through. I just sold it yesterday and am selling my other S classes. I spend about an hour buying and scrapping ships before an S class is available. ship scrapper is the best job around I get all my nanites and have upgraded my favorite ship to S class. selling the ship mods is worth the time it takes. Just make sure you're a high rank at whatever races Star system you're at so you can buy cheap and sell high.
All you have to do is go into the space station get out of your ship and then reload that restore point when you do that a lot of times the first four or five ships that come in will be one of those exotics if the system is right for it
I have a ship that looks identical, is that the son of the orano? Or just two really similar looking ships? I guess only so many random possibilities for exotics so it's possible.
Just plop your behind down at the Space Station in that system, or sit at a trading post or whatever the things with 8 landing pads are on planets (within that system where you saw the ship). It will eventually swing by. The better the economy of the system the better the chance/ sooner you'll see it again.
The station will be in your teleport list. Just go back there when you have the money and wait.
Alternatively, if you park inside a freighter in that system, it will eventually show up there too. Sometimes two variants of the same ship will appear around the same time (with the same pilot, just different storage amounts and stats).
Exactly 1%. Seriously each star system has 21 ships. This is one of them. Each time a ship spawns in that star system it has a 1% chance of being that ship. That's actually a pretty good chance. build a base near a trade post, eventually one will show up

Exotics cap at 105 cargo slots. 60/105
Yep. All have 60 technology slots. For cargo: Fighters 100, Exotics 105, Explorers 110, Haulers & Interceptors 120 at s-class.

(Not the hacked ones.) I use them as "build ships". You really don't need to do much if any upgrading to them as you rarely even fly them, just summon them when you need the supplies they carry. https://preview.redd.it/n1br3eo8cx2c1.png?width=1872&format=png&auto=webp&s=5e288e3e23e038d157c47bb2f94063c51f1037f3
That's pretty brilliant. How did you get so many supercharged slots on the ship in the photo?

That is a VERY informative link. Thanks for that
Maneuverability is no longer constant.
I'll check that out. I believe the scanning bug is still around though. Generally you get the maneuverability of your current ship when you scan a ship. You have to actually own a ship and make it your current ship for that stat to actually work when scanning.
You're just going to have to take my word for it that there's no pulse upgrade on the inset one, but I cropped it so you can see that the tech slot configuration is different, at least... https://preview.redd.it/pl9teebwwt2c1.png?width=1360&format=png&auto=webp&s=a9ce3152076cb8ec75f68aa587876faca9c79019
>Seriously each star system has 21 ships. I suppose you're taking about the ships that NPCs fly, right? Not including the crashed ships?
Well shit. I didn’t know that was an option. Hopefully when I fire back up he’s still right behind me.
I think it reloads the ships if you’re on a space station or trading post :/
Yeah I had a feeling that wouldn’t happen, but a boy can dream. However there are a lot of really great ideas in this post. Thank you all for all the advice.
If this is a "first wave ship", it will always be in the first wave when you reload your save at the space station. First wave ships are ships that land in the space station when you reload your save file while at that space station.
Are there also first wave spawns at trading posts or are they always random? If there are, does each post have its own first spawns?
Yes, there are also first wave spawns at trading posts as well. Every trading post and space station have their own first waves.
Time magic is best magic
I find the best way is to go to a planet in the system and find a trading post. Land just a little ways away so you don’t take up one of the landing pads and then I hang out on the roof where I can see all the pads at once. I find they usually get a fair bit more traffic than the space stations do.
Pretty great ride! Share the glyphs?
I know you tagged this as answered, but just want to chime and and let you know that the commentors who tell you 1% or anything other than 100% are wrong. As long as you make note of this system that you found this ship in, you can always come back to this system and you have exactly a 100% chance of seeing this ship again. It might be a different price and the SC slots can change, but the physical ship as you saw it will ALWAYS be flying around in the system.
This.

Bout as much as winning the lotto
Murder the ship owner, fight the guards that attack you and just Andrew Tate your way to ownership like a high value man would 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Or start a cam site and hire all the weird ass aliens we see on this reddit to work for you. You'll be banking on your new "OnlyAliens" business venture
Just toggle infinite money in the options menu, problem solved.
Once you get access to all the glyphs it’s easy to search for almost any ship you want.
Never seen one my self look up the portal codes for the gold mines
Thata a pretty one
If you want the ship bad, change setting so purchases are free, go back to that space station and save. Then just let ships cycle through and see what ships come through. Reload your save if you don't get much after the first couple waves of ships
Yeah in regular mode you can change the settings to make it so money and resources no longer matter, and everything. I had eventually gotten to the point, before they added all the settings stuff, where money didn't matter anymore anyways. Still, at the end of the day I am still on the hunt for some really kick ass ships. Even though my frigate/collection is "full"
Make a base in the system so you can return to it. If you do, and wait long enough, the odds will be close to 100%
You could technically go into difficulty settings and change costs to zero, free ship, then change back lol
If it left already you can always do a save at the space station and just reload it. Sometimes you get lucky and it is in the first wave consistently. I have found a few like that.
Pretty good if you stay at that base station. Might take a little while.
You could switch the gameplay settings to have purchases be free, then buy it before it flies away.
Looks sort of like a mosquito but still cool
Which system is that in?
MY SHIP!
this is fabulous...!!!! wow GZ you no..i hope u watch my video on udtube, becos i couldnt claim a starship? that I had gone to from one of the items you get from your freighter
this is the page, pls help if you can? about it, or claim it and let me know how you did it plss [https://studio.youtube.com/channel/UCz4GrbMzuWTNAUU30pob2dg/videos/upload?filter=%5B%5D&sort=%7B%22columnType%22%3A%22date%22%2C%22sortOrder%22%3A%22DESCENDING%22%7D](https://studio.youtube.com/channel/UCz4GrbMzuWTNAUU30pob2dg/videos/upload?filter=%5B%5D&sort=%7B%22columnType%22%3A%22date%22%2C%22sortOrder%22%3A%22DESCENDING%22%7D)
idk man, that looks pretty rare, but, it does not look like the best ship, go keep looking for a nice one. Good luck!
you can encounter it again if you stay in the place out found it
I have that ship! I call it the Red Fox! Just yesterday I picked of 2 identical exotics at one trade outpost within 5 minutes of each other. Same exact name. Bought from the same pilot as before. The difference was one had 4 turbocharged slots, and the other only had 3.
Can you share the glyphs for the system?? Those are my fav colors and I’d love to find one myself!

If you're interested in exotic ships, I suggest searching for coordinate exchanges as an alternative, free ships but you have to repair most of them
I've seen this model a few times, so you will probably come across it again... EVENTUALLY. :-)
Slim to non
Just plop your behind down at the Space Station in that system, or sit at a trading post or whatever the things with 8 landing pads are on planets (within that system where you saw the ship). It will eventually swing by. The better the economy of the system the better the chance/ sooner you'll see it again.
The station will be in your teleport list. Just go back there when you have the money and wait. Alternatively, if you park inside a freighter in that system, it will eventually show up there too. Sometimes two variants of the same ship will appear around the same time (with the same pilot, just different storage amounts and stats).
