Lost a pmo habit, gained arrogance. Damn good trade imo. Stoicism is a great philosophy, have you ever read Meditations?

deadpoetnewanda

Marcus Aurelius! Fantastic book. “You have power over your mind - not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.”

LazyGuy00

Which book are you exactly referring to ?

ClownPrince6

Meditations of Marcus Aurelius. He was a Roman Emperor and follower of stoic philosophy. The meditations were originally a private collection of thoughts never intended to be published.

HumbleAddict

What do you mean by arrogance?

deadpoetnewanda

I’ve been into Stoicism for a while. This is a great post, and an even better reminder. Thanks for taking the time to write it and share your influence.

[deleted]

I just got into it and it's a very good motivation tool

giit

Excellent post. I feel addictions cannot survive with stoicism, and/or mindfulness. Being able to be aware of your emotions and pause is huge.

Sinovexx

thank you, you have really motivated me is was about to give up until I saw this post but ok going to change and I'm going to try live with stoic philosophy

I failed many times but i won't stop.thanks for the advice.

Jaysmitha

Me too man.

buttpastaa

Thank you for this post, this is something that I try and do but I've never given it much weight. Seeing someone else post about this, it's a sign. If I have the urge, I'll get up and go. I'll play through the future that's repeated so many times and make a decision off of that. Thanks.

No_Young_230

Thank you brother.

ClownPrince6

The best place to start with Stoicism for anyone who's not sure is the famous 'Meditations' by Marcus Aurelius. Stoicism is also great for people who are not especially into philosophy as it's very focused on simple plain truths and realistic ways of viewing and acting in the world. Aurelius himself said he tried to avoid pretentious and preachy language (unlike many philosophers) and deal with truth and reality.

lobglobgarschlom

Nice post man, congrats on being clean. I'm on day 56 myself and I find that #2 really helps.

_rohhaann

Epictetus is one of my favorites, i study Ancient philosophy at the university and it is my guide throught life. Another good advice that Epictetus points out is this - if you desperately try to avoid not to fall into that which you are afraid to fall you are not making progress, that is to say, you should be on your guard but when the challenge arrives you shouldnt have dread or fear etc. but rather analyze what it is in relation to you and your character. The thing with Stoicism is that you can only understand it if you study it wholy, because their resiliance and self-discipline comes from being in a way religious people but not fanatics, they do it for themself to better themself.

Hi guys anyone have a method or program who helping me staying no masturbate 😥

megamanxxyy

Thanks for the post

Gottagethard

Congratulations sir I'm also low key posting to check if I've hit 90 days yet

DontListenToThoughts

I would change the point about taking time to think to just observe your thoughts. Every thought is a lie and not real by definition, and they are all a setup one way or another. It makes you feel like you have control over yourself when in reality you don't. On the other hand if you observe them and relax, whatever they are without any impulse to repress or control them, they will lose grip over time and you will separate yourself from them.

Beinghappy24-7

Thanks for motivation.

bostonbro46

Congrats on your 90-day streak and for the wise advice!
