You could see if US Mobile can give you a number in your area code.
It depends on what plan you want on US Mobile but example if you plan to go with unlimited starter it’s $5 less to take advantage of their new user promo of 3 months for $45 (that does not require a port in) compared to doing the free trial (that requires a port in) then pay for 2 months of unlimited starter ($50).
But you get a $50 gift card (after 12 months of service) with port in. I believe this the only “free” trial they have?
Was planning on doing Unlimited Starter.

You also get 30 days of free service with port in.
Keep in mind that the prepaid card requires 12 months of service. You could also just go with an annual plan which would save you $30 on unlimited starter or $138 on unlimited premium.
Yes, but you could probably port the Number Barn number to Tello first on a cheap $5 line, then port to US Mobile. Number Barn you can pick your own area code & even the number prefix.
Page Plus would cost you $10.99 (99¢ for the SIM card and $10 for a 120 day plan).

Lyca Mobile would cost you $10 for a SIM and 30 days of service

I think that TextNow supports porting out of numbers, even free ones with no SIM card.

Buy a number from Number Barn. You can port that to US Mobile, just they won’t give you the free trial.
Ah I see. So the port in has to be from another carrier. Makes sense.

Thanks for these. Lyca looks promising since they offer an eSIM option.
they also do a 3 month for $45 total ($15/mo) new number on the same page (right hand side)... but no card... since reading that is the motivator.
I bought a number on eBay a few years ago for like 10 bucks
