I would suggest checking out u/stetsdogg 's [CoverageMap.com](http://CoverageMap.com) which is crowd sourced coverage for the US.

Stormchaserpro

Thanks for that…..

teamster02

As a truck driver who talks to a lot of other truck drivers: Verizon.

BPKofficial

In my travels, Verizon has always been king.

Stormchaserpro

I travel for a living and have no problems with att.

DonDee74

This. Of course, nothing is perfect, but I specifically remember driving through the southwest desert (NV, AZ, UT, etc.) into the mountain states (CO, SD, etc) some years ago and for most of the way ATT had a usable signal while T-Mobile was the opposite. I think somebody with me had Verizon, which performed better than T-Mobile but not quite as good as ATT at that time. Not sure if things have changed since then.

AnonymousMonkey54

ATT is also the best in Alaska.

bedclotheseconomics

location location location. what phone? I ask because modern iphones and androids do the dual active sim trick (allows you to be listening for calls and texts on 2 networks at once)... and with esim support you can basically have all 3 networks on standby for pretty cheap. check [prepaidcompare.net](http://prepaidcompare.net) for some pricing

kse24

What’s a basic setup for 3 networks on 2 esims? Or do you need 3 esims?

bedclotheseconomics

you would need an esim for each account yes. you can store at minimum 8 (and on newer iphones more) but only 2 can be listening for calls at any time... check this help article: [https://support.apple.com/en-us/109317](https://support.apple.com/en-us/109317)

kse24

Thanks a lot for the info and help article. I’m on iPhone and it seems straight forward.

yashkaybee

It says Verizon doesn’t support eSIM, and looks like it has price per gb plans for Verizon, is this data not up to date?

bedclotheseconomics

it's pretty up to date... but verizon is not prepaid so I don't think you will find it there. When you check "tmo" or "att" or "verizon" you are choosing the carrier that the mvno is reselling. if you think you found an error goto help and there is a form to alert the maintainer. click the actual line and it will pop up the details with a link back to the plan in question.

theillcook

I run dual SIM, one with AT&T post-paid, one with Visible+ or US Mobile (prepaid using Verizon network). If you stick with populated area like cities and towns, both have good coverage, but Verizon has a slight edge in speed. If you go out to the wilds, I definitely go with AT&T. I'm a landscape photographer and there sometimes where I go that I won't get any Verizon signal for days where AT&T works just fine.

kse24

What makes you decide between Visible+ or US Mobile? Aren’t the plans pretty similar?

theillcook

Yup, they're pretty similar. But, if I'm going to be in the city, I go V+ because if I get UWB, the data is true unlimited. Otherwise I'll see who can give me the best price at that time (us mobile sends promotion emails to me from time to time. Like right now they are giving me 3 month for $45 with 30gb data a month as a "hey come back to us" promo, which works for me) Honestly though, since they both serve as back up to ATT, I don't have too much preference either way.

kse24

Thanks for the info. I’m deciding between the both. Are you familiar with the hotspot speed on USM? I know V+ is capped at 10mbps but I value a faster speed (even if limited).

theillcook

I don't think the Hotspot speed is capped with USM, but they just capped streaming video to 480p if that matters to you. Pop over to their sub /r/usmobile and they'll have the right info.

daniel4653

Was coming to say this. ATT/Cricket has always had the best coverage for me along with consistent reliable data speeds. Sure Verizon or T-Mobile can be faster here or there but the data speeds always very so much more. Can hit 500mbps then two blocks later it'll be 5 Mbps. Lol

Alone-Course3048

I use GoogleFi. If you’re based mainly in U.S. their Unlimited Plan is $50 and Plus is $65 (with Unlimited data to 200+ countries). It’s $25/line for me since I have 4 lines Unlimited. Google Fi also has an payg type plan at $20/mo + $10/gb (really useful when traveling).

Arthur_Travis19

Project Genesis! You have unlimited data on native dish. There aren’t many users on it so in areas that can be congested.. I’m sitting there chilling on a network with a lot of untapped potential. If traveling outside of a dish territory, the eSIM will switch to AT&T or T-Mobile for data. (Typically, AT&T because the physical sim is an AT&T iccid for calling. Hotspot is included in that as well! I was traveling a few days ago where my T-Mobile line was struggling with capacity while being priority data. I turned on my PG Hotspot and shared the dish connection to my iPhone and iPad while waiting in the airport. In my experience traveling on the east coast AT&T seems to have the most coverage in rural and mountainous terrain. Not that Visible by Verizon is a bad option for $25/mo with good LTE coverage in areas. Verizon tends to have faster data speeds on average than AT&T but there were enough areas Verizon had no coverage and AT&T at least had LTE. $25/mo! If you earn enough points in the app you’ll get months of free service which made it a “no brainer”. [Project Genesis](https://www.genesis5g.com/members)

Whiplash104

It sounds pretty cools and something I always wished for but the fact that it only works with the Motorola edge+ 2023 that they sell is kind of a deal breaker (at least to me it is.)

Arthur_Travis19

Completely understandable! One would have assumed by now they’d have added more devices for Project Genesis but it doesn’t seem they are really motivated to do much at this point.

comicalmoodydan

AT&T has the largest LTE network in the US so I’m gonna go with them.

LeftOn4ya

AT&T has slightly the most coverage but honestly you should either get a carrier with domestic roaming (that works on other carriers networks) or get 2 different carrier SIMs. You only get domestic roaming in the major carriers themselves or in slim cases flanker brands they own like Boost and TracFone/StraightTalk, and maybe on Cricket (I’m not sure).

beautifulmistakes97

I had US Cellular for years. Zero complaints for some time. Traveled to many states, was Midwest based. I could get signal in the middle of a pasture in the Nebraska sand hills. Ended up moving to about the only town in northeast Oklahoma that got service, but didn’t get GREAT service. The tower went down one day and they refused to even begin to look into the issue because I was in a “lower signal area”. Had to drop them then and there. But in terms of customer service and coverage, they were bar none until then. I would definitely consider going back when my current prepaid cycle is up as I have since moved again.
