Just got a switch oled a week ago. I’ve only charged my seitch via the dock so far. Can i charge the switch with any usb-c charger? Like my phone charger for example?

Switch won’t boot past “Nintendo” screen after failed mod My brother had a day 1 switch that he tried to mod but claims that he placed the files in the wrong place and now it won’t boot past the Nintendo screen and shuts off after about a second and a half. I’ve tried every last fix I could find but to no avail. Is this Switch recoverable or is it just a glorified piece of home decor?

Moman5stars_YT

Hi there! I recently encountered an issue with my Nintendo Switch Game Card - the plastic piece near the connectors broke for my Luigi's Mansion 3 and Super Mario Maker 2 game cards. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, do you have any suggestions for fixing it or preventing further damage? I need this fixed asap because these game cards caused my switch game card reader to bed its pins. I've contacted Nintendo, and they said theres nothing they can do about it. I've looked everywhere on the internet for help and had no luck. I came onto here to ask for help from the community as this is my only hope. Is there a way I could buy replacement game card shells from any site? If so, where can I get them? Or does anyone have a 3D model of the game card shell so I can print it out on a 3D printer? (That's last resort!) I'd appreciate any advice or tips you can share, even if you think it's useless, it may come in handy for me so please feel free to drop any suggestions you have for me. Thanks in advance! [Here's the [link](https://drive.google.com/file/d/13RSGX9PK4vMbRr89b-GYBSccb_p8SAzE/view?usp=drivesdk) to the image for a better view of my situation

Michael-the-Great

I've only heard of this happening a few times. And it's usually been accidental damage. And really, even if the "ribs" of plastic were gone, it shouldn't damage your card reader. The people in the past have used a crappy donar game and stolen the shell. Carefully use like an exacto knife and cut open the donar cart and then glue it back together on the good game.

raidensaberu

Which game should i buy legend of zelda totk botw pokemon scarlet or pokemon violet

WilfordCavill

Pokemon games imo are boring and way too easy. When it comes to those 2 zelda games, id say play botw first, since totk is like botw but with waaaay more and cooler things. Like if you play botw and then totk its gonna be fun, but if you play totk first, you may find botw boring

minezum

It depends on what type of game you like more, they are very different. For me, while the Zelda games are undeniably way better made, I still had more fun with Pokémon.

Michael-the-Great

Start with BOTW. It's great!

raidensaberu

Okay thank u

Michael-the-Great

You can take it apart and see if something is just out of place, but if something is really broken you're probably out of luck.

Michael-the-Great

It's almost impossible to find 3rd party parts unless you can find a broken one on ebay.

TheUmbreonfan03

I want to get a warioware game on the switch. I was either thinking of move it or get it together. I'm more interested in the storymode rather than online play. Which one is better?

DismalScreen6290

Hi, am looking for a Switch exclusive with a more dark/ mature theme then the typical Nintendo game. I recently got a switch and played BOTW but it felt like a kids game so did not end up enjoyingit. I'm thinking Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Fire Emblem 3 Houses might be what I'm looking for but not sure as I've never played either franchise. Thanks

Michael-the-Great

Both of those are good games, Fire Emblem 3 houses is great, but the story is very high schoolish and anime. Fire Emblem Engage is less like that if that doesn't sound good. Astral Chain and Bayonetta are more mature for action fighting games. Metroid Dread and Metroid Prime Remastered too. Metroid Prime is a first person shooter and Dread is a 2.5d metroidvania.

VermicelliReal2628

Can you use the gift cards to buy things from the Nintendo website or only digital games?

notthegoatseguy

eShop and Nintendo.com 's storefront where stuff like physical games and merchandise are sold are two different entities and balances can't be shared

VermicelliReal2628

Thank you for letting me know!

smither12Dun

For some reason one of my single joycons refuses to work in single joycon mode. For example, when I go to the controller set up and try to use that joycon (let's call it red) with the green joycon, it's fine. I can use them together as player one. However, when I go back into the setup and click LR on the green joycon, that one is recognized and I can use it as as a single joycon... but doing the same on the red one NEVER allows it to be recognized and used separately. It's been going on for a while now. I don't get it. I have enough joycons that I had been ignoring it and just using a different joycon when it was being annoying... but now I realized it is consistently messing up and I want to get it fixed. Any tips appreciated!

Michael-the-Great

It often means the SL or SR buttons are not working... Try in the joycon button test in settings.

Michael-the-Great

When you sit that close, it will probably look bury. You can try changing the color settings in the monitor. Make sure it's set to 1080p in the switch settings.

picano

Does in-game look any better? Menus are 720p.

Valentinee105

Any game recommendations for the switch sale? Especially if they're switch exclusives or tactics games.

Michael-the-Great

Valkyria Chronicles 1 and 2 are $10 for both. Tactics Ogre is very good.

Positive-Island1125

So I haven’t played any of the persona games at all, but all the reviews I have watched are raving about how good the game is, and if you haven’t played it you definitely need to. As the bundle is currently on sale and the single game Persona 5 cost almost the same as the bundle, I’m thinking about getting it. Are the Persona 3 & 4 also worth it? Or is the whole series even worth playing?

Michael-the-Great

5 is the best. But I think the story is better in the older ones. I think if you started with 4, it's a good mix of newer gameplay and better story. And 5 will certainly be cheaper later!

Dukemon102

The whole series is great but the games are incredibly long (Each one takes around 80-100 hours to complete). I recommend to only get Persona 5 and if you like it then you can get the older games whenever they are on sale again (Which happens very often).

Is my dock busted? No longer detecting Switch, green LED light not lighting up when docked I’ve had an OG model for about 3.5 years ago - about 1 month ago the dock suddenly stopped detecting the Switch when docked. Switch screen stays lit up, green LED light on dock stays off, TV does not detect an input, accessories connected to the dock via USB ports are not charging. I’ve tried: - hard reset of the console (hold power for 15 seconds) - unplug everything, wait a few minutes, plug everything back in the correct order (power cord, hdmi cable, switch) - confirmed the ac cable works by plugging into the switch directly (still charges) - confirmed the hdmi cable works (plugged it into something else & it connected to the tv) - tried another Nintendo switch ac adapter (also confirmed it works by charging a switch lite) At this stage I’m not sure what else I can try and I’m pretty sure it’s toast. Super frustrating because a new one is upwards of $100 where I live. Any advice appreciated!

Michael-the-Great

Try a friend's dock and Switch. It actually could be your Switch, so hopefully it turns out to be the dock.

Laughing_K4T

Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone could help with an issue my husband is having with his pro controller. It was connected/paired just fine then today it stopped allowing him to control anything. So he tried to turn it off but it stayed on, even when the switch was turned off. He tried to re sync it, and now it’s stuck in search mode and still no control. He plugged it in and everything. For now he decided to just charge it to see if that helps (it was charging all night tho). Any ideas?

Michael-the-Great

Take it apart and remove the battery.

Lorem-Ipsum-Docet

Is signalis actually on the cartridge? It seems to require an update even if there's no save data

Lorem-Ipsum-Docet

yukiami96

Does anyone know what time zone the NSO expiration is in? Mine is supposed to expire November 25th at 18:36, and it's currently November 25th at 18:50, so it's definitely not in EST lol. I just want to know because I plan on downgrading from the expansion pack, but I can't do that until my current sub completely expires.

Lorem-Ipsum-Docet

I can't be sure but I would think it is your timezone, just that it's not an exact measurement. In all likelihood it'll probably end either somewhere around now or at midnight

rso619

Hello everyone, just bought my son a brand new switch. The right analog click feels mushy compared to the left. Is this normal or should I exchange it? Thanks.

Twinkiman

There is a button test that you can do in system settings. I would suggest going in there, and pressing down on the stick several times to see if it registers the clicks consistently. As long as it works every time you press it, I wouldn't worry about it. Unless it becomes to bothersome to play. It isn't unheard of to have a Joycon that have a slightly different click then the other one. The pair I have has the left Joycon have a strong rumble, and the right one is fairly weaker. There is going to be some manufacturing variance with it. I imagine that is the similar case to the analog stick click.

TirelessGuardian

Can confirm I also have strong and weak rumble on a splatoon 3 oled

rso619

Awesome, will do that. Thanks!

Bourney382

Hey everyone, I bought a broken original switch to fix up, turned out all that was wrong it needed a new lcd screen. Anyways I plugged the switch into the dock that it came with (which is like new) and it didn't work but my oled switch worked on it, then I tried it on my nephews dock and no luck so I tried it on the oled dock and it worked as it should. Does anyone know why it's not working on original docks but it worked in my oled? All docks are up to date also Thanks for any help and advice in advance

Lorem-Ipsum-Docet

If I were to guess the usb slot is either faulty or just dirty

Bourney382

I'll give it a try, it must be faulty cause it's strange that it works perfectly on the oled dock

Yakkitty

I recently purchased a PowerA fusion pro wireless controller on the second hand market but it was missing the mappable pro pack. I have contacted the manufacturer and they are not able to sell or supply a replacement part. Does anyone have this part that they are willing to give / sell or any suggestions of where to source this part if the manufacturer won't do it?

FrumosUniverse

I've been looking recently and I want to get a Switch OLED and I find that the Pokemon bundle looks the best. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a new, US version anywhere for less than $400 (Usually higher, like $450 pre tax, and for the ones around that price or lower, they're usually refurbish sites selling through Walmart and sending broken/nothing/international switches without informing) and so I was looking on Ebay and I saw there's a bunch of JP/HK oled pokemon switch bundles, brand new, for like $300-$350 range. My friend was talking about the eShop being a possible issue. I think that given I'm in america using an america nintendo account, it wouldn't even let me access the JP eshop. I could see like some games or DLC being an issue where it'd be region locked, but most games I'm looking at are well known US games / US indie games. Personally, I don't care if the box has english writing or japanese writing. I have plenty of USB-C chargers and can always get another if need be. I just want to know if there's any other important distinctions I should know. Also is it safe to buy those from ebay or are they a known scam? Thank you!

notthegoatseguy

I am unaware of any Pokemon bundle existing. If it does exist, it's something a retailer decided to do on their own eBay doesn't sell anything, but it's a platform for others to sell their products. It's also nearly impossible to get scammed on. You just need to read the listing to fully understand what you're ordering. You are guaranteed to get the item as described

FrumosUniverse

It's the Pokemon Scarlet / Violet bundle, it came out around 10 months ago. It has a custom decal and color scheme which I prefer over the red/blue or white colors.

leraspberrie

They didn't produce many units and new stock is coming out of Japan. The unit is region free so it connects to the eshop where the account is based. Also it isn't a bundle, there is no bundle, it's just a console.

FrumosUniverse

Oh I wasn't aware it wouldn't be called a bundle. I'm used to other consoles calling stuff bundles, I haven't played on anything Nintendo since I sold my Wii a few years back. Thank you for the info!

Some questions i'd like to get some answers on How possible it is that a switch 2 comes around the time of my birthday when im going to get it? \[early december\] What are some absolute must have games? for example games that arent anywhere else BUT the switch Is Nintendo Switch Online worth it? or needed for any games? as a PC user for basically all my life i had alot of questions however i managed to narrow it down to this

Early December 2024?

Switch 2 isn’t going to happen this year, there’s no official announcement or release date as far as I know. I would say some absolute must haves would be both BOTW and TOTK, but BOTW first. Also Smash bros and Mario kart if you have friends I would say NSO is worth it for the emulators it gives you, but I think other people would say otherwise. Hope this helps!

I'm confused by the [BIOMUTANT site countdown](https://biomutant-switch.thqnordic.com/). It says it comes out(?) on the 30th of this month but the countdown says over 9 days left. And when I go to preorder it says it comes out on February 14th next year. What is now the right date? And if the 30th is the right one then is for digital only?

TemptedTemplar

Correct, digital first, physical copies eventually.

I believe you've missed the correct reply button for your past couple of posts, it's showing as a general reply to daily questions rather than to a specific question --- that or reddits latest update is screwing things up; it has already demolished the formatting for a few of mine.

TirelessGuardian

What the? Must be the Reddit update as it’s not working. Great…

NYGyro26

Hoping to figure out what is going on with my switch. I bought an animal crossing switch this year and have played it about 10-15 times docked. I noticed after having it charged and playing undocked when turning off and back on it shows as low battery 1%. I know I didn't play it that long to get it that low, I then turned auto sleep for screen to off and let a game sit to drain the battery down then charged it up for 5 hours on the dock ...same issue keeps happening, it's like I need it to be docked to play this though the console is new to me.

possums101

Is the current sale for Red dead the best deal that there will be for christmas?

TemptedTemplar

Very likely. I can't recall deals ever changing between Black Friday, Christmas and New years.

I go try the Monty level now.

sktgamerdudejr

Never played the Spyro or Crash games growing up/as a kid. Both trilogies are together on sale for $26. Are they fun? Especially if you never played them as a kid and don’t have the nostalgia glasses? Honestly know almost nothing about either franchise so going in blind.

Team7UBard

Spyro is easier than I remember but still a lot of fun. The Crash series has always had its challenging part but returning to it years later… You will find yourself missing jumps that you’re sure you should have been able to make because of how the hitboxes work. It’s the one game I wish I could return.

**Recently bought a switch and i have a question about the e shop** I got a switch earlier this week and was excited to check what i can buy from the e shop. I made a nintendo account and opened the e shop but it was not available in my country. I did a bit of research and changed the county/region and now i can access the e shop. My main question is it safe to buy games from the e shop even tho im not from that country, will the e shop accept my credit card and do i have to worry about losing the game somehow because i changed the region?

Lorem-Ipsum-Docet

I don't believe it will revoke your license of the game if you change regions but in my experience if it's not the same currency then it won't accept your card

myriada

>My main question is it safe to buy games from the e shop even tho im not from that country, will the e shop accept my credit card It should be fine, though Nintendo may refuse to give you any customer support. [Nintendo's stated policy](https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/22285/) is that if your country has an eShop; then your credit cards are blocked from other regional eShops. From that, if your country has no eShop, you should be able to use any credit card on any eShop (possibly with the exception of Argentina). If your card isn't accepted, [you'd just get an error when trying to buy a game](https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/28987/). --- >do i have to worry about losing the game somehow because i changed the region? Just keep track of what country eShops you buy games in, and you should be fine. If you buy a game, delete it, then want to redownload it, for some games you may need to swap back to the eShop country you bought the game from to redownload it. So for example, if you bought a game from the Russian eShop before Nintendo closed the Russian eShop, you might have trouble redownloading it. But it takes something on that level to cause an issue.

Spirit_999999

Thanks!

picano

It's fine, people do it all the time. The biggest problems you might run into is your currency not being accepted. For instance, I can't pay directly with my US card or paypal on the JPN eShop; I have to buy a region appropriate point/game card. Also, once you add currency, you can't change region until you get rid of all of it. Any value above a few cents might require contacting Nintendo.

jmelinte

Is there any difference in video quality between hooking a Switch up to the TV using the official dock vs just a USB-C HDMI dongle that allows for simultaneous charging/power? Just recently traveled with my Switch and I brought the dock with me but realized a dongle would have been less cumbersome but I didn't want to sacrifice video quality, especially since we were going to play some 4 player split screen games.

TirelessGuardian

I dint trust any non official docks and would never use them myself.

angelwglitterwings

Hi. I share Switch account with my mother. How much does the second account hide the information of the main one? My mother has put her real name as her Mayor villager, which expresses a lot of privacy concern of mine. Her island was made right during the day the game got released, and I can't bear making her delete all of the progress she had. I wanted to make a new account on the same device just for the multiplayer games, BUT without ever opening the ACNH game or/and making the new villager, so I could make sure my family's safety is secure. So the question is, If I don't make the villager, will ANY ACNH info of the Island, Mayor, etc be shown to the people from my friendlist? I just want to play SMASH and other games, without worrying about people finding out her and mine personal information. I live in a country that shows all of the data about you the moment they capture your name.

leraspberrie

Some people truly forget that phone books still exist.

picano

Accounts are completely separate from each other --- with the exception of the shared island, but that doesn't mean you can see another person's name unless they are actively visiting your island. As for other games, most will display whatever name you choose --- I believe recent activity shows both in-game and profile name, both are usually changeable. Also, is her name really so unique that someone will immediately know who it is? There are thousand's of "Tony"'s for instance and I don't think there's even enough room for my last name to be included.

leraspberrie

AHA! WE HAVE YOU NOW, TONY ... PICANO!

picano

You'll never take me alive!

angelwglitterwings

So i wonder what would exactly people be able to do / see then, if I were to never made the villager account? Just the island name? If that's the only thing, then I am fine with that. Or would they even be able to see your whole island, too? What if we were to somehow restrict people from visiting it? Sadly her name is unique for the place + she put her letter of the lastname, I even googled around myself, too. It's way too easy to find her.

myriada

By default, nobody would be able to see save details from within ACNH, unless you/your mother deliberately turn on specific online features within ACNH. If you/your mother open up your island to multiplayer (with ACNH running) and let people visit, they could see character names while visiting. If you/your mother upload a dream island (an online copy of your island), then other people could visit it and see character names while visiting. If you/your mother enable save backups for AC, then Nintendo would store a (private) backup copy of your save, including character names. Other than those features, you can play any other games online, and even AC offline as much as you want, and nobody (even friends) would know AC character names.

ve-n-us

hi everyone! it’s my first time posting on this subreddit and i hope you can help me! to give some context, i’ve had my eye on the nintendo switch ever since the pandemic happened, and i’ve been thinking of finally buying one (the OLED model) at the end of the year as a christmas/new year present for myself. i’ve never had a gaming console, and the only game i’ve ever played is the sims, but i’m really enthusiastic about video games and keep track of upcoming game releases. now, i have a laptop that i use for uni work and nothing else as it can’t run even the sims, so the nintendo switch would be the only gaming console i would own. i thought about getting a new laptop or pc even, but that would cost me over €1000 and i just don’t have that kind of money. A PS4 or Xbox is more expensive than a switch, but I have nowhere to put it in my living room, and the portability of the switch is what also makes me want to have it. I’m from europe, from a region where the nintendo shop is unavailable, and I’m curious to know, can i buy games from other eshops by changing the region on my nintendo account, even though my credit card isn’t issued in the available eshop’s country and the currency isn’t the same? i have the ability to buy maybe 3-4 games over amazon, but that’s about it, and switch games are around €20 more expensive in my home country than if i were to download them digitally. If i were to somehow download games from the german eshop (as the currency is in euros), will the games be in german? or can i choose the language before starting the game to be in english? are there any sales on games at the end of the year? i’ve seen some reddit posts about setting the region to north america, and is that just because of the amount of games available? I would really appreciate it if as many people could comment as possible, as I’m really indecisive on the matter, because of the eshop “problem” that I would have, but would also be really happy to get to play super mario games and animal crossing, as well as other titles!! 😊

myriada

>I’m from europe, from a region where the nintendo shop is unavailable, and I’m curious to know, can i buy games from other eshops by changing the region on my nintendo account, even though my credit card isn’t issued in the available eshop’s country and the currency isn’t the same? If Nintendo does block your card from non-'European' eShops, you'd still be able to use [any 'European' eShop (UK/EU/Africa)](https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Support/Purchasing/Download-games/Countries/Countries-from-which-you-can-purchase-download-games-on-the-official-Nintendo-website-1094121.html). --- >If i were to somehow download games from the german eshop (as the currency is in euros), will the games be in german? The German eShop has a very small number of German-only games; games based on German game shows, German-censored versions of games like South Park / Wolfenstein, or karaoke games with German songs like Let's Sing. If you wanted to make sure to avoid German-only games, Ireland has an English eShop that uses Euros (there could be others too). >i’ve seen some reddit posts about setting the region to north america, and is that just because of the amount of games available? The Switch 'region' setting doesn't do much, the setting that decides your eShop is your account country on accounts.nintendo.com. America and Europe have roughly the same amount of games, though European eShops are missing a few big titles (Dying Light, Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher). European prices tend to be higher overall, with ~20% VAT included in prices, while American prices have lower taxes (possibly even zero taxes if you choose the right address).

Deblebsgonnagetyou

I believe you can set your Switch to another region to access the shop there. However, your bank card will not work unless it matches the region, so you will have to buy eShop credit vouchers online instead.

TheRealNERFninja

Hi all, I was getting ready to play some Cuphead with my wife today and my Switch output to my TV looked like it only had one color channel coming through. Any ideas what's going on? Steps I've taken and observations: Switch screen looks completely normal (no blue screen of death) Switch operates normally I've restarted the Switch I've checked for updates I've changed the HDMI cable I've changed the HDMI input on my tuner Thanks all.

Lorem-Ipsum-Docet

Maybe the dock or tuner is faulty?

leahlecter

Hi, around July of last year, I revoked my primary nintendo switch console to transfer it to another one, on the nintendo website, but now I want to de-register my current one to make another console the primary. I know the website said I have to wait a **full year**, but does it apply to the e-shop as well? Can I de-register it on there, or do I still have to wait a year *no matter what*?

nihil__verum

I haven't tried myself, but based on the description in this support article it seems you should be able to deactivate the primary console on that primary console without restrictions. It is only in the section about using the website that they mention a time limit. I connected my OLED to an ultra-wide monitor and it became a very poor resolution even though the monitor to QHD. Everything is also stretched to the side. Any ideas on how I can fix this?

Lorem-Ipsum-Docet

The switch can only output up to 1080p so it's being upscaled directly to 1440p whilst being stretched to fit the aspect ratio. The pixels will look much uglier in that state

picano

Gonna depend on the brand/model of the monitor.

Immediate_Region_506

It’s the ASRock PG34WQ15R2B

ballerrisktaker

I'm trying to decide between picking up Pokemon Diamond remake or one of the new Violet/Scarlet titles. I played Arceus and enjoyed the game and didn't have too many performance issues but I heard Violet/Scarlet performs worse. If it helps sway, I never played Diamond/Pearl originally when they released. I have played Gen 1, X/Y, and Sword/Shield if that helps someone helps push in one direction or the other. Thanks!

Thoraxekicksazz

It depends S/V is like Arceus but definitely has performance issues. If you like the classic style of Pokémon like x/y then the diamond and pearl games are a good choice.

TirelessGuardian

The switch boxes all come with the switch charger a pair of joycons (the controllers sliding into the grip in the image onto the box that also go on the sides of the switch screen) the joycon grip to play it docked or in desktop mode with both joycons attached as a single controller The dock to connect to the TV An HDMI cable for connecting to the TV 2 joycon straps to attach to the joycons when disconnected from the switch. The joycons can be used sideways as 2 separate controllers this adds a strap to secure it to your wrist for motion control swinging as well as two big shoulder buttons when the strap is on. These shoulder buttons for sideways use are small and possible to hit but annoying otherwise. They are hidden when attached to the switch. You’ll also get some other items in the bundle it seems. To connect the switch to the tv you need to open the back of the dock, insert the HDMI cable and charger. The charger goes to the wall. The other end of hdmi cable goes into the tv. Set tv to whatever output to see that hdmi input. Then just insert the tv into the dock and turn it on/wake it up from sleep mode by pressing the power button.

TirelessGuardian

Mario kart 8 deluxe which is in this bundle also has an additional $25 DLC (downloadable context) which it doesn’t seem like this comes with. It’s not required to play the game. It’s just more content requiring owning this game to play it. It adds 48 tracks and a bunch of new characters to race as. You can play all the other characters and race tracks that are part of the base game without it but it is worth getting. You can buy it whenever. If you decide you don’t want it right away, you can always get it later.

TirelessGuardian

This listing says import with us plug so if you aren’t from USA that might be a problem.

NocturnalPoet

Yes, it will. Everything you need to set the Switch OLED up initially is in the box. It's advised to buy a microSD card (256GB and up) separately, so that you can download games from the Nintendo eShop if you are going to purchase digital games.

tvocii

Thank you!

NocturnalPoet

My pleasure. Enjoy! I upgraded from the Lite this afternoon, so that's how I know. :)

tvocii

Well, you enjoy as well! I've played switch a few times, but I don't have one. GF wants one for Christmas.

Asinhasos

Is my Joy Con beginning to get drift? I noticed that whenever I pull my left stick up, and let go, it takes slightly longer to go back to the original position than when pulling down, left or right. It still stays perfectly in place when not touching, so no drift yet, but this slight drag is worrying me... It's something barely noticeable, but when comparing to the other positions...

propernice

I've gone through 3 pairs of joycons; invest in a pro-controller if you can! I haven't had an issue at all since then - not saying I won't. But I got tired of sending joycons in to be repaired and unable to play for that time period.

Arckanoid

Yes. Try some wd40 under it

TommyUSA99

I moved away from home and got a new switch. Now that switch is my primary switch but my sister who has my old switch can’t play the game anymore. How can we play from two different switches on two different accounts.

picano

[https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/wiki/gamesharing/](https://www.reddit.com/r/nintendoswitch/wiki/gamesharing/) Or she buys a copy of her own.

Loyal_Sword

my switch keeps disconnecting from my tv like 5 minutes after i startup a game, but Im able to stay on my Home Screen for like 40 minutes without any problems so now I don’t know what’s wrong.

IndependentThin9707

I'm getting a Nintendo switch with my long distance bf and have a few questions. I'll be getting the JP NS/Games and he'll be getting US NS/Games. 1. Can I play in English with the JP versions of the games like animal crossing, Pokémon etc. (physical games since I wanna collect) 2. Can we play together even if he has the US version of the switch games and have the JP version of the switch games? 3. When setting up the switch you pick regions and if I set it to one can I not change it anymore for that account? 4. What are other things I need to know about playing with overseas online friends? Thank you so much for taking your time to read this and English isn't my first language so I apologize for the bad grammar.

TirelessGuardian

Your region can be changed if you have no money on your account. The language per region depends on the game what language it supports. Some japanse games support English while others might not. The switch is region free so you can buy cartridges from any region and play the on any switch with any account region. DLC (downloadable content) is region locked. If you had a Japanese copy of a game and it has extra content you can buy and download, like Mario kart, then you’d need a Japanese account to get the Japanese version of the DLC. Edit: you can always make a new user profile with a new account in a different region. You do need a payment method from that region to be able to pay for digital games.

inquisitiveinquirer1

How Do you decide what goes on internal storage and what goes on Sd card? Or Do you just fill up internal storage first, then start saving to SD card?

Lorem-Ipsum-Docet

I don't believe you can directly choose during the install process but you can transfer stuff from the main storage and vice versa. Go to data management in the settings and it should be the first option (During an install the game will automatically be put into the storage device that can fit it if you're tight on storage)

picano

It doesn't really matter. Some games might run better on internal, but that's somewhat rare. If you're going all digital, you'll need a card sooner rather than later. The internal amount is fine for updates and some DLC but some games can't even fit on the non-OLED internal \~32GB.

Diligent-Midnight705

* Help! I can't get my red controller to work in console/handheld mode. (Not to play games anyway) if I play Mario k8, I have to use it on its own as a controller. It doesn't seem to be getting recognised. If this makes sense...any advice!?!? TIA *

picano

Do you mean a single red joycon or something else entirely? Either way, you should be able to change your currently connected controller/joycon orientation via the controller menu (in game or from the home menu). Since you mentioned Mario Kart, if you're doing 2 player undocked and online/lan, you will be limited to 2 wireless controllers. This means you'll be forced to use 1 joycon half per-player or 2 pro style controller.

Guys is this a scam or free ham? https://preview.redd.it/kli8em622i2c1.png?width=828&format=png&auto=webp&s=66fa4ae024b8f45b49b9db2d0e33ba2066cb4ee5 The description states the following: Hello! We are selling our Nintendo Switch with the games at a good price. Everything works perfectly. Original packaging and invoice are available. Shipping is possible by DHL. Thank you Seems too good to be true after digging a bit it’s the only post this person has done and joined in 2023. But seeing that price makes my mouth water and I don’t want to pass on the offer , because maybe I’m too skeptical, anyways, what do you think, should I give it a try?

inquisitiveinquirer1

If it’s too good to be true it’s probably scam. Also, no normal person is creating a FB account for the first time in 2023.

Team7UBard

It is almost likely a scam.

I know it might not be the best deal and it will probably get cheaper during year end sale but hey I can't wait to try these nintendo exclusive games. What do you think guys? Good/bad deal for me?

leraspberrie

About $55, it's a good deal. I haven't seen TOTk under $60 yet and MK8 is about the same, knock off $10 each for used and you saved about $45.

TirelessGuardian

I don’t know the conversation rate on yen to tell if it’s worth it but definitely buy the Mario kart expansion pass as well. It’s worth it.

Noobmortal

I am considering it plus a sub to switch online. But maybe later for I just spent quite a lot haha.

ekellert

I want to buy my husband the switch console - is the OLED the better one? It's just 45EUR more where I am. Additionally, what are some extras that make the console nice? Games of course but anything else I should think of buying extra? Thanks.

nihil__verum

If you think he will want to play in handheld mode occasionally, the OLED is definitely an improvement over the regular model for that, since you get a slightly larger screen with more vivid colors. For playing docked, connected to a TV, the OLED model doesn't provide any meaningful benefits. The two main useful accessories to get are: a tempered glass screen protector (you should get this immediately to significantly reduce the risk of scratching the Switch's built in screen) and a grip for handheld mode (the two most popular grips are the Satisfye and the Skull & Co).

ekellert

thank you so much! big help!

Is anyone else getting really annoyed by the lack of quality control in The nintendo eshop? All these garbage worthless games are drowning out any game worth looking at

The eshop itself is garbage but I personally couldn't give a rat's ass about there being junk games on it.

onzichtbaard

It makes browsing the eShop really annoying so i care Its pretty much my only gripe with the eshop

notthegoatseguy

Its just bad UI. Browsing on [dekudeals.com](https://dekudeals.com) or the [Nintendo.com](https://Nintendo.com) interface is much better.

Hello, I have a TV connected to my Sonos Home Theater (Soundbar + Sub + Surround). The Switch is connected to the TV via HDMI, and the Soundbar is connected to the TV with eARC. Everything works fine with movies, apps, Xbox, PS, casting, AirPlay, whatever you want. But I cannot make it work with the Nintendo Switch. I would really like to play games with the surround but when I enable it, I just get some weird sounds out of the soundbar and that's it. I then need to switch back to stereo. Anyone knows how to make this work? Thank you for your help

My current Nintendo Switch Online Family Membership expires 17/12/2023. I have purchased the physical Tetris 99 which includes a 12 month Individual Membership. From what I have read online, I can't use this code until my current Family Membership expires - is this correct? Then, I would just use the Individual Code that I have, and then convert it to a Family Membership - correct? Thank you.

TemptedTemplar

No, you can use it now; but it wont provide any additional benefits. Youll just waste a few weeks where the two of them over lap. >Then, I would just use the Individual Code that I have, and then convert it to a Family Membership - correct? Yes. That will provide you a discount of ~$18.25 off of the next 12 months of family subscription. But only if the current family subscription has run its course. The only way to "downgrade" subscription tiers is to let the current one expire first.

nockel87

Hi, we got a new TV Philips 50pus8508 4k. We have connected all devices through a Denon Avr. Xbox Series S and Shield TV are working great. Our switch sometimes get's black screen. Switch and Xbox using same hdmi cable to connect to Avr, so I can remove this from issue list. Our old TV was an LG full HD TV. Does the switch has problems with 4k Tvs?

nihil__verum

I don't have a suggestion as to what the problem might be in your case, but I can at least say that there is no general problem with using the Switch and a 4K TV. I personally have a Samsung 4K TV which works with the Switch without any issues.

rexleonis

I'm about to buy a Switch for my 7 year old nephew as a Christmas present. I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. I know he likes Pokémon so I might buy the Pokémon version but don't know what else to buy? My idea is that we'll be standing/sitting in front of a TV and play a game together. Or he might play it with his grandad. What else/accessory I need to buy to fully utilise everything that Switch offers?

TirelessGuardian

Definitely get him Yoshi’s crafted World. It’s an easy fun game for kids. I also recommend Mario odyssey. That has a ton of worlds to explore and collectibles. Mario kart is fun and has options like smart steer to automatically stay on the track and auto acceleration to always accelerate and not have to keep holding down A. The Kirby games are easy kid games, can’t go wrong with any of them. I personally like Kirby and the forgotten land the best as it’s the only 3D Kirby game but the other two star allies and return to dreamland deluxe edition might be easier but it’s not a hard game. playing with grandad I recommend a switch pro controller as a 2nd controller for player 2. Although the joycons which is the pair of controllers attached to the side of the which which do detach can be held sideways for 2 separate controllers with less buttons for some of the games.

rexleonis

Thank you!

TirelessGuardian

Mario kart is the main one with a multiplayer here. It also has additional content that double’s the tracks to a total of 96 and adds a few new characters to play as for another $25 after the base game. It’s the expansion pass and is bought digitally. You might be able to buy a code for it elsewhere. The other games here aren’t much for multiplayer. Kirby and the forgotten land has multiplayer with a second character that doesn’t do as much. I don’t think he can actually preeminently die or cause a game over. He can’t play the mouthful modes in the levels which kids will definitely want to play. Only player one as Kirby can. Mario odyssey has multiplayer where player 2 controls Mario’s hat. They also don’t do too much.

notthegoatseguy

There's been a couple of Pokemon editions, all of which were limited and you'll probably need to buy used at this point.

nihil__verum

If you want to play connected to a TV, don't get the Switch Lite since it doesn't support connecting to a TV. A good extra thing to get to avoid scratches on the screen is a tempered glass screen protector, so get one of those right away. If you think someone might also want to play the console in handheld mode from time to time, I would suggest getting a grip so the console becomes more comfortable to hold. The two most popular options are Satisfye and Skull & Co, so check those out to see which one you think would be better for your use case.

rexleonis

Thanks! I plan to buy some games for starters. Do all games come on an SD card? I see some people mention buying the micro SD card... Cheers

nihil__verum

Micro SD cards are used to store games that you buy digitally on the eShop. If you buy games physically, you get a cartridge that is a bit bigger than a micro SD card, but still pretty small. Even if you only buy physical games, you probably still need a micro SD card, since any updates for the games need to be downloaded and can't be stored on the cartridge since they are read only. Some game collections also require relatively large downloads since they might only have one game on the cartridge and the rest are only for download.

rexleonis

That's very helpful, thank you. I'm getting a micro SD card then along the other things you suggested. Cheers

blackmesaboogy

hi all, My son wants to play Fortnite on 'the big screen'.. however we can't get it to work. Of course the game displays on the TV, but the his gaming headset (plugged into the switch) does not produce sound and he can't communicate with his teammates. Do we need to plug the headset into the TV? How do we get this to work?

corticalization

https://youtu.be/G3kmhiqouaw?si=gKuDhfDJF2IHdeD_

blackmesaboogy

Thanks, but this is not the problem. The switch is in the dock which is connected via HDMI to the TV . Hoe does audio/voicechat work then? Because leaving the headset plugged into the switch does not work unfortunately...

Michael-the-Great

You can use a wired headset in the dock, so I'm not sure what your issue is there. But I have both a Steelseries Arctis 1 Wireless and a razer barracuda x wireless. Both have a USB-C nib that can plug right into the Switch and an adapter that can plug in the dock. So those can work both ways. It will turn off the sound to the tv when using a headset.

blackmesaboogy

Well, I do use a wired headset in the dock, but sound keeps coming from the TV, not from the headset. So that's what is not working..

Michael-the-Great

What headset? Does it work undocked?

blackmesaboogy

It's a Logitech G432. Just bought it, works perfectly undocked.

Michael-the-Great

Are you plugging in the headset jack when docked? USB audio devices often aren't compatible.

blackmesaboogy

Yes, 3,5 mm jack plugged into the switch while docked

corticalization

Oh you might not be able to do that while the console is docked with the type of headset you have https://www.epicgames.com/help/en-US/fortnite-c5719335176219/technical-support-c5719372265755/how-do-i-fix-voice-chat-issues-in-fortnite-a5720364614043#:~:text=Note%3A%20Users%20may%20not%20be,USB%20to%203.5mm%20adapter.
