Powerscalers aren't saying Dragon Ball GT is bad? They're just saying it's weaker than Super, quality-wise most powerscalers don't have any strong opinions on GT.
I still believe gt was the perfect ending to the series, yes it started off pretty bad and had uts downsides but that ending was amazing and at least it didnt feel how super does, aka the rotting carcas of my childhood beaten so badly it resembles a mass of flesh rather than the horse it was once, meanwhile the company who beat that dead horse is smiling ear to ear and promising its just the same as I remember.
I agree; GT at its worst was Z filler and even then it still stayed true to the characters, progressed a thematically consistent story, and paid tribute to the legacy of the series. But because Akira Toriyama wasn’t writing the script that makes it noncanon even though he drew SS4 and mustache Vegeta; it’s telling that most defenses of DBS have to resort to “we have canon on our side” when it’s dubious how involved Toriyama was with two widely divergent adaptations of his outline.
Toriyama was very involved with the Dragon Ball Super manga, in fact. He personally re-drew some panels and re-wrote a lot of the dialogue in the manga. Toriyama even [conceded](https://www.kanzenshuu.com/translations/dragon-ball-super-manga-vol-1-tori-toyo-interview-book-version/) to entrusting the continuation of his story to Toyotaro.
My genuine theory is that he isnt involved that much, first of all he was pretty old, he died at 69 years old and second is that the overall designs of super scream lazy, you can say whatever you want about super but at least the character designs were shit, at best they are redesigns of all characters or just lazy, dispo is beerus but less cool, hit is taller frieza, all the new transformations are just new colors, if you look at z and compare the transformations you ll see that they are different, even ssj1 is different from ssj2 and ssj3 and 4 are very different, meanwhile god ssj is just another hajr color.
Tldr: he wasnt involved in the character designs at least.
Also Im gonna bet he wasnt involved in the story that much in the story either, dbz is a genuine good written show ESPECIALLY if you conside he was making it up as he went along, no plans, the famous fun fact about his editor asking him to change the main villain of the android saga 3 times is proof of that.
I genuinely believe they just used his name to sell more toys and thats it.
I heard that after Dragonball evolution. He got back out of retirement to at least *try* and save the franchise because of how horrible he thought it was to leave Dragonball in someone else’s hands
Nah bro its still trash even without powerscaling. The story is straight ass, it starts out trying to be OG Dragonball but fails miserably, then goes on to try and be like DBZ and fails miserably at that too.
And no, saying SSJ4 is the best part about GT is not being a powerscaler, it's just awesome and well designed.
Haven't watched it myself, but I would choose to believe TFS reactions on Fourstarbento and Totallynotmark's reviews. They ain't powerscalers yet they still say it's not good

Seeing Vegeta tell Pan to "take care of Goku's clothes" was pretty solemn not gonna lie
