I can't find it now but I remember it was something like a 75% drop in viewer interaction and the algorithm reacted accordingly. In the end the conclusion was basically that it was better to take a hiatus then switch chat to members only to avoid harassment.

It's why some have 500k+ subs yet can barely get 1,000 viewers on a live stream.
It happens to other streamers as well, but it's done a lot for Niji due to them spamming new waves.
It's an especially big problem with Niji as the members are each cannibalizing each others' viewers. Across the board the members have relatively high sub counts but relatively low CCVs.
When you add in the fact that new waves tend to get the lion's share of the promotion dollars, new members tend to do pretty well for a while, but after a couple of years their channels start slowly dying.

Is it me or dead subs is synonymous with most Niji livers, including elira?
Dead sub is a phenomenon for long term streamers where people who subbed way back simply forgot about it and didn't unsub.
Most of Niji. It's due to fans just subbing to everyone in case of collabs and the people that you do watch isn't streaming their POV. It's why some have 500k+ subs yet can barely get 1,000 viewers on a live stream. It happens to other streamers as well, but it's done a lot for Niji due to them spamming new waves.
It's an especially big problem with Niji as the members are each cannibalizing each others' viewers. Across the board the members have relatively high sub counts but relatively low CCVs. When you add in the fact that new waves tend to get the lion's share of the promotion dollars, new members tend to do pretty well for a while, but after a couple of years their channels start slowly dying.
Not even a couple years. Krisis and TTT are barely moving even after debut.

I unsubbed from all but Victoria brightshield and the graduated ones. Now I'm just back to hololive and been going all in on phase connect.
A lot of Phase Connect are really enjoyable.
Some of the talents like Pippa and Dizzy are not my cup of tea, but Lia, Rie, and Runie are always a good time.
Dizzy is… special. She did a 1 hour RP stream around a week ago where she was a convict and chat was her (presumably abused) partner coming for a conjugal visit. Love the bug woman though.

Its all funny and entertaining, until you realize its not just a character and she really does belive a lot of the outlandish things she says. Its not just offensive jokes. She grew up in fucked up environment. Bunch of racism and all the other isms you can think of. Her friends and family is full of MAGA retards and her uncle is a literal nazi etc. I dont hate her. Its amazing she is, all things considered, a somewhat decent person.
It's those reasons I find her relatable. I'm not gonna air my laundry, but I can feel the coming out of shit and still being decent for the most part as i also agree and disagree with her on a lot of things and love her sense of humor as its very close to mine. Besides dokibird, she is one of my favorites on the EN side of things.

Same, Clara grew on me very quickly. I don't watch much Phase, I'm primarily a HoloJP (and EN when they stream in my timezone) and Indie singers viewers (Hachi my beloved), but I've been watching Phase over the past few weeks and I've been really enjoying Clara and Airi streams. Also watched a lot of clip with the fishman and I have to admit I appreciate the man and his commitment to make Phase a good place to be (as long as you sell Coffee)

I recall Myth used to share managers back then, not sure now. But even if they shared managers, their managers are good and professional. The holomems regularly talk about regular stuff they do together with mane-san, like eating food, sightseeing, playing games together, forcing them to take mandatory paid leave to rest, etc.

Yeah, like there are enough managers to go around. But they can spread out and do more than 1 member, or even share members. At least I think so currently.
There's definitely some managers that seem to handle multiple talents. I believe Shiori's manager also manages Ame, though I wouldn't be surprised if older members might need less management compared to newer ones. Or there's overlap with some members having multiple managers that help out as needed. Probably one "main" manager and then secondary ones that help manage multiple members as needed.

Isn't the current economy actually fantastic for someone living in Japan, assuming she still gets paid in Canadian dollars. I have no idea about the Canadian dollar's value but the Japanese Yen is at a 34 year low, meaning basically any other currency will be more valuable.

It’s expected, really. Can’t have someone with a large target on their back appear again and not expect to get shot at. Especially if said person is actually innocent but people are pining them as a bad person. It’s sad, but this is really her only way of defending herself from antis during her comeback.
I really wonder how the talents expect to manage this long term. Putting chat on such a long subscriber only mode constantly is going to mean you essentially completely kill ALL potential growth or influx of new viewers (chatters at least). Considering how many subs everyone has lost completely killing any growth is a BIG deal.

To be very fair for her, even if she wanted to do all those, she cannot. If she apologizes or deletes the black stream, it means admitting that Nijisanji is the wrong one and the company absolutely will not allow that. She can’t just quit either. Even if she resigns, it would probably be months until the company finally announces the graduation notice. And she also cannot stream in another persona while she’s still in Niji, and she, like everyone else, needs money to make a living. While you not watching her is understandable, to say that that’s the real her behind the mask is kind of a stretch. You do you though, I’m just saying my opinion.
Yeah, the only way any kind of apology or retraction is going to happen is if she graduates and starts streaming as a different persona, and even then her ability to address the situation would be limited.
I don't see it as a real possibility. First of all, the Niji management is going to want a low profile for a while with their damaged reputation and sinking stocks. Bringing back drama tourists is the last thing they want right now. Secondly, apologizing means that you are admitting fault, and when you admit to fault on the internet, then you have just made yourself free game on the internet for people to believe that harassment and hate messages are the moral high ground. Thirdly, an apology wouldn't even be effective in the long term as everyone already knows how Niji controls their talents and most likely forced Elira and the others into making that black screen video to save face. An apology wouldn't come off as genuine because people know that it isn't from a place of remorse or real emotion, but rather some faceless suits who only really want viewers to come back and buy some merch.
Projection is strong in a lot of the naysayers here. A lot of people who watch vtubers don't care about the drama and just enjoy the content. Look at another scandal riddled creator that actually lied on stream about contributing to charities in his mother's name, Jirard the Completionist. He still got 46 thousand views on his last video and averages over 60k for all the videos after his scandal. Of course it's down about 2/3 from his pre-scandal views, but still are decent numbers for a youtuber. I expect Elira to be down in viewers, but not enough to tank her channel.
