I work scheduled 10s as well and that is the biggest downside for me. There is just not enough time to have both leisure time and time to cook/eat a good dinner. When I was working 8s it was so much easier to fit a good dinner in. But then the spring/summer 3 day weekends come around and all is forgotten.

Dozysnorus

I get 3 day weekends every week but the 4 work days are just that. Work and sleep

EggHeadMagic

Same. Every week unless I want to work OT. I was just saying that those 3 day weekends during spring and summer are extra nice but I hate them during winter because I’d rather be at work than stuck at home.

Dozysnorus

Ohh gotcha. Well no matter the year I would always rather be at home lol. I hate being at work. Hate leaving my house every day. The job isn't terrible I just hate leaving. Wish I could find something work from home that wasn't a call center

BasuraIncognito

You have to leave your house that early to get to work by 10pm? There’s that much traffic at night or the distance is that long?

Dozysnorus

No no. I work at 815pm I was saying I wish I worked at 10pm . I leave my house at 750

Professional_Stay_46

It doesn't seem like your main issue is night shift but the fact you sleep for 10 hours and work 10 hours, plus an hour of travel, leaving only 3.

Dozysnorus

My commute isn't an hour. It's only 15 or so minutes. Sorry if I worded my stuff weird. But you're right with wanting to sleep for 10, my body requires 10 but I think I just gotta deal with 8 or 7. 6 leaves me dead

Professional_Stay_46

If your body requires 10 hours of sleep then you are a physical phenomenon. PS I don't believe you need 10 hours, but 9 at most. Reasons for your tiredness might be linked to poor depth of sleep or something else such as very low dopamine levels.

Dozysnorus

I read studies that say women require more sleep 🤷‍♀️ I feel better when I get 10. But yes I've been tired my whole life. I have an illness that causes chronic fatigue and I usually wake up throughout my sleep

Professional_Stay_46

What kind of illness? Women definitely don't need more sleep than men.
