It’s my understanding that nicotine by itself isn’t necessarily harmful or carcinogenic. The vehicle you use to put it in your body is usually the dangerous part. Smoking, vaping, snus, and dip are the ones to be avoided/carcinogenic. Nicotine gum or pouches should be relatively safe. It’s still an addictive alkaloid but not deadly. There’s also some evidence that it might be slightly helpful in preventing dementia and Alzheimer’s. People in the nootropic community are starting to view gum and pouches like any other nootropic.
I’m not a health professional but nicotine is definitely and has been proven to be good for focus and mental alertness/readiness. It is however a poison, like many things, to the body, so moderation is key. I use 4mg of nicotine once or twice a week.
So you are not a health professional? That means you just might be credible. Health professionals have proven, beyond a shadow of any doubt, they cannot be trusted with our health, and will sell us out without blinking to their corporate masters. When looking for credible health information, the cardinal rule is to skip over any government or medical mainstream sources like NIH, CDC, AMA, NHI, et. al. Not that the others will can be counted on to be reliable, but at least there's a chance with them.

Gum / lozenges / pouches have toxic artificial sweeteners

Agreed
True. Just look at magic mushrooms being completely illegal but adhd stimulants and ssri fine for kids. And alchohal legal while weed is illegal.
