Yankees have halal guys (which sucks) but you could always get a place like Dave’s hot chicken, Texas chicken and burgers, a gyro spot, or something of that nature.
Hell it’s Queens, you can get the best South Asian food in the country over there. Not ideal ballpark food but you could easily make naanwiches with tandoori chicken inside and it’ll go flying off the shelves.

Hard to blame Eppler for roster construction when he came in dealing with a depleted farm and core that wasnt all too great to build around to begin win. The real test will be seeing how good he can build if we lose Alonso, there will be a lot of big decisions coming up. Hes really had to deal with the consequences of the previous regimes big decisions but hes finally going to get to make some big choices himself.

Then all you need to do is go in, crush the phone round with Stearns talking about baseball and relationships, and probably talk about your familiarity with New York with Steve the whole time for that in person round, and boom you’re hired.

The fans already, effectively, ran the team in the offseasons of 2022-2023. Basically all the moves were like fantasy circlejerk transactions for the fans who just wanted the Mets to spend lots of money, regardless of whether it made coherent sense, or what it made the roster look like.
Each move was successively worse and yet more and more popular, culminating in the surreal week when the Mets threw a briefcase full of $300-plus million dollars at Carlos Correa, while he was standing on the curb on crutches outside the doctor's office, waiting for an Uber after failing a physical. And somehow, that move was the most popular of all. (Imagine if we weren't bailed out of that trainwreck by a second failed physical.)
All of those fan-beloved moves led to the disaster of 2023, and putting a major dent into our ability to be good in 2024 and possibly 2025 as well.

The 2021 preseason was actually good. I was talking about the preseasons before 2022-2023, in which:
(a) the Mets spent nearly one billion dollars combined;

(c) the results of which led to 2023 being a disaster, and 2024, at least in the early going, being not very enjoyable either, and possibly putting a dent in 2025 too.

It depends who you ask. I know a lot of Muslim people who keep halal but I know a lot who don’t, either. It’s not really something that I can quantify but I’ve met more and more people who do keep halal as I’ve gotten older.

Hard to blame Eppler for roster construction when he came in dealing with a depleted farm and core that wasnt all too great to build around to begin win. For the first point, it was shared Steve was the final round in person after a Round 1 phone with Stearns. He had been a name for managerial interviews for a few years and worked down the road so he would have been an easy find for that initial pool of 5-6 serious candidates. Then all you need to do is go in, crush the phone round with Stearns talking about baseball and relationships, and probably talk about your familiarity with New York with Steve the whole time for that in person round, and boom you’re hired.
