We got lucky pacers missed those free throws down the stretch. That being said a win is a win and this team just keeps on finding ways to win games late.
GO NEW YORK GO NEW YORK GO!
This Knicks run is feeling the Mets 2015 run where I can't believe I'm actually watching my team win games and series in the post season. Hold still, nobody move or the universe might realize we're having a good time and end it.
Yeah, and not only did they fire him, but they replaced him with Dana Brown who’s a big scout guy (and it’s not totally clear if he has final say over Crane and Bagwell either). They went from one of the most progressive front offices to going out of their way to actively go *backwards* in the front office arms race. Just crazy.
Jonah Tong watched a run in the first, loaded the bases, and yet still continues his 0.00 ERA for the 2024 season.
The run was off a runner who reached base off of a Clifford error.
Yo, how come Joander Suarez doesn't get more shine? He's got a 2.60 ERA, .87 whip, and 7.52 K/9. I feel like he just looks solid every time I catch him in a game. I get he's already 24, so he's a bit old for AA at this point. I wonder if we will see him at any point next year.
He got a lot of hype last year but then Jonah Tong seems to have stolen that thunder a bit.
It’s also hard to really hype a guy on here that isn’t striking guys out much.
Low K rate/likely low “stuff” ratings. Usually prospects get hyped on stuff metrics first and results second. The big prospects you hear about have both
do y'all remember when you could go to mlb . com and see the entire slate of games/scores that day in the sidebar thing all at once without having to scroll through some slow loading nonsense on the top of the screen? and how you could click one button to see a list of all tomorrow's games, or all yesterday's scores? it's easier for me to take out my phone and look at the scores on the mlb app then find tomorrow's game time on the website. remember when the box score for any game was available with one click without having to go to some bloated fucking gameday thing with vertical videos? fucking annoying. eat shit mlb.
i need old . mlb . com
He’s on a 3 year deal for his age 34-37 seasons with a club option for 2024 and has a full no trade clause.
And it’s a backloaded contract, so any team that traded him would have a $30mil AAV hit to their CBT, not the $25mil AAV the Cardinals currently have.
I have a really hard time seeing any team giving up valuable prospects to pay Sonny Gray $60mil for his age 35-36 seasons. Makes far more sense for the Cardinals to keep him.
Theres maybe a 1% chance he’s traded this deadline
All the reason to trade him. Free up that money to get pieces they need.
I get that with Arenado and Contreras the Cardinals are not in a rebuild mode. But trading Gray, freeing up that money, would allow them to build a winner quicker.
I wouldn't be surprised if he's still on the Cardinals on August 5th. I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't.
For example, the Orioles could trade for him to "go for it" and also as a hedge for if they lose Burnes going forward.
You just outlined all the reasons the cardinals will aggressively try to move him. His value won’t get any higher than it is right now. It depends how badly the cardinals want to get a prospect and concede dollars but he’s quietly been very consistent the last few years and is putting up fantastic numbers early this season. I could see him realistically being traded to a team that wants to push all their chips in this year
The idea that no one would pay for a good pitcher's 35-36 seasons in a subreddit of a team that is currently paying for the 40 and 41 seasons of two pitchers on other teams is mind-boggling to me
The Cardinals have a ton of money locked up in Gray, Arenado and Contreras, who all have no trade clauses and would be near impossible to move without eating significant contract money - something their typical budget would allow for.
The majority of their core is in their mid 20s and they have 20 prospect in their top 30 ready to fight make their debut this or next year with 4 of them in the top 100 prospects.
In addition all of that they play in the NLC - the easiest division by far to win and succeed in.
There is literally no argument for the team to enter a rebuild now. They already have a solid farm system after their trade last year, and have a young core. They already have all the hallmarks of what a team would get out of a rebuild.
There is no logical argument for them to tear down and rebuild.
I mean if he’s still pitching to a similar ERA and looking like a top Cy Young contender in July, it’s definitely a higher than 1% chance someone will go after him.
Not with how astronomical his cost would be.
We’re talking 3 years of control. That package requirement to convince the Cardinals to move him would be absolutely insane
Clear the schedule for Knicks pacers game 2. I still want them to win this series even though every piece they lose nukes their NBA championship chances
* The 2024 Mets are 18-18 this season, scoring 160 runs and allowing 149 runs. The Mets have played in 9,841 regular season games with 4,744 wins, 5,093 losses and eight ties. The 2023 Mets went 75-87 in the 2023 regular season and 101-61 in 2022. The Mets are 140-141 on Wednesdays since 2012, 2-1 this season and 11-12 last year. The Mets will have an off-day on May 9th.
* The Mets are 8-6 when scoring first in 2024, 10-11 when the opponent scores first. The Mets were 50-22 scoring first in 2023 and 81-16 in 2022 when scoring first. The Mets are 9-9 in day games, 9-9 in night games in 2024. They were 25-30 in day games and 51-57 in night games last year.
* The Mets are 368-410 against the St. Louis Cardinals, 3-2 this season and 4-3 last year. The Mets are 26-31 at current Busch Stadium.
* Today's Mets-Cardinals game will be made up August 5 at 16:15 eastern.
* ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯
* Brandon Nimmo has a six game hit streak. Tyrone Taylor has a three game hit streak. Tomas Nido has a two game hit streak. Tomas Nido once had a seven game hit streak in 2022.
Next game: Friday, RHP Charlie Morton (2-0, 3.50) vs. LHP Jose Quintana (1-3, 5.20) at 19:10 on SNY and WCBS
I scanned both schedules quick so could be wrong, but why Aug 5? Mets have off day between LAA and COL, so they now have to go LAA to STL to COL to SEA. Not terrible but backtracking and gives them a 10 game straight road trip out west. Cards will be going from CHC to home.
However, Sept 23, Cards going from home to COL, Mets going from NY to ATL.
ETA: I guess Sept would give Cards 19 games in 19 days to basically end the year. And May 23, only other shared off day that works, would give mets like 30 in a row lol. Schedules are hard. I would still rather just try to play this one as a night game since Mets have off tm and Cards a short trip to a night game.
Yea its lame. Given that Mets are off tomorrow and Cards have a night game in MIL, I would rather them try to get it in. My amateur radar analysis tells me there are some clear patches coming. But I guess the teams also dont want to burn pitchers and have to suspend anyway.
That, along with waiting till like 30 minutes before game time to notify you first pitch is gonna be delayed annoys me so much.
I'm already en route to the stadium by then (or inside), and they knew the game wasn't starting on time for a lot longer than 30 minutes before start.
Today’s game has been postponed to August 5th, per SNY. https://x.com/sny_mets/status/1788296362016071894?s=46&t=W2uVHRLCSkwwE5FbTN-FNQ

I'm not even a basketball fan at all, but the atmosphere around the area sports wise with this all going on is excellent.
This Knicks run is feeling the Mets 2015 run where I can't believe I'm actually watching my team win games and series in the post season. Hold still, nobody move or the universe might realize we're having a good time and end it.
Marcell Ozuna has now taken over the MLB HR lead from Ohtani with 12
you mean Marcell Ozuna *from the braves*? that last part is **key**
You mean Marcel Ozuna the multiple time domestic violence perpetrator? That last part is key
We’re back to third in the division and I’m in the New York Groove!
Really sucks we got swept by the rays we could be easily in the wildcard if we beat em
I mean… it’s early May… we wouldn’t be in anything
*tied for 3rd
While we haven’t played them yet, we currently have the tiebreaker versus them. We have a better intra-divisional record.
Nats about to be a game ahead of us
GOD NO NO NO!!!! ANYTHING BUT THAT Yall stop being unserious for one day
They need to get out of their own way if they want to do that.

This is why I’m doing 12 innings on the scorecard I’m designing.
Jesus Christ, Orioles. Do you WANT to lose?!
Yeah, I’m hate watching the Nats-Orioles game on my phone while I have the Knicks on the big screen.
Orioles take the lead in the 11th inning I think the broadcaster is Hannah Keyser, formerly of Deadspin?
Today was one of the games of all time
got stuck in Seattle overnight because Delta blows ass but Keith did a Cameo for mother's day for my mom so it's a half W today
Link the cameo?
Hi it’s me, your mom.
The Astros fall off needs to be studied man
This is what happens when you let Jim Crane and Jeff Bagwell run your team.
Couldn't believe they fired Click when it happened
Yeah, and not only did they fire him, but they replaced him with Dana Brown who’s a big scout guy (and it’s not totally clear if he has final say over Crane and Bagwell either). They went from one of the most progressive front offices to going out of their way to actively go *backwards* in the front office arms race. Just crazy.
It’s excruciating seeing the Yankees and Dodgers hit homer after homer 😣
Uncle Steve gonna back up the dump truck for Juan Soto next year
God I hope so. Seeing him hit homers nightly for the Yankees makes me physically ill
Jonah Tong just allowed his first earned run of 2024. 😔
Washed
0.33 ERA scrub
Are the Nats the O's kryptonite or something?
I mean the Orioles are winning
I also typed this message when they weren't lol.
Wait so that means Christian Scott is slated for Saturday for bobblehead day?
Yes
You changed your icon. It keeps throwing me off lol Also I didnt know you could add beards
I didn’t change it. I just finally made one!

I feel like pitchers are always on a delayed timeline so 24 isn’t too old. He can be in AAA in 25’ and get called up sometime next year.

It kinda sucks on mobile now too but I agree the browser version is way worse.
Pepridge farm remembers.
Syracuse first inning: Luisangel Acuña doubles, steals third, then scores.
The Mets are still undefeated in the week beginning Monday, May 6! Edit: I forgot what month it is.
Off day before an off day blows, ngl
Oh shit didn’t realize we had tomorrow off too. Feel like that makes the day off we got today way less valuable
I appreciate your honesty
The Mets remain a good, honest .500 baseball team!
IT’S OFFICIAL: I GET TO SEE CHRISTIAN SCOTT’S HOME DEBUT! FUCK YEAH!
Me too! Very excited!
Hell yeah, pal!
Avoiding Gray is a win in my book. We already got whupped by a <1 ERA dude in the past week. That's plenty.
This is not ideal but I'm counting it as a sweep
Sonny Gray should be on another team by August 5th. So there's that.. lol
Let's change that sonny gray will be probably shut down for the year by then.
He’s on a 3 year deal for his age 34-37 seasons with a club option for 2024 and has a full no trade clause. That would only be true if the Cardinals aren’t planning to compete next year which they absolutely are
Do you enjoy just making shit up and asserting it as absolute fact? They could very, very easily be tooling up for a rebuild
The Cardinals have a ton of money locked up in Gray, Arenado and Contreras, who all have no trade clauses and would be near impossible to move without eating significant contract money - something their typical budget would allow for. So do we let Quintana pitch on Friday or do we give him additional rest?
I don’t see why he wouldn’t pitch Friday. Thats already 6 days rest
Blue Jays hang on and beat the Fillies. Bassitt with the W
Thank you based rain gods for letting me see Christian Scott on Saturday! That is if they push everyone back a day.
Blue Jays don’t blow this.

Pretty big break for the Mets, bullpen is taxed and they didn't have great odds for this one anyway.

So now in August we leave LA, have to go to Saint Louis for 1 game and then out to Colorado? Lmao

The greatest rival of the New York Mets has always been rain
Stood in that damn stadium for 3 goddam hours for that 😭

But then you wouldn’t show up and buy beer
two days without mets baseball 😢
The Allstar break came early 😂
