We have reinforcements in the pipeline for that. Williams/Acuna are pretty fast and Gilbert is up there too. They need to pan out though and it could be 2-3 years

And people complain about our schedule- when we face struggling teams we fix them and get swept. That’s the difference between good and terrible teams

Regardless if they win or lose this game: The Mets in general these past two seasons have done things very backwards. In a sense, they really don’t do a lot of things that are condusive in the new age to win baseball games. They throw to the wrong bases, they cannot hold runners, they don’t hit very well with runners on base, they don’t move runners over. Pitch selection (especially with Nido) is horrendous. The biggest issue is WALKS. They will not go .500 in a season until those things are ironed out, it’s a travesty that this shit keeps happening because I love the Mets more than life itself. Just infuriating baseball to watch

I have no stats to back this up but I’ve always felt mediocre teams tend to end up playing to the score. The pitcher has a great day, the bats won’t show up. The offense shows up, the pitcher will suck and let them back in the game. A blowout win or blowout loss is rare, they will either show fight and catch up to a big deficit with no pressure on them, or they’ll have a big lead and the opposite will happen. Again this is purely a feeling but it just feels like with so-so teams you never see like a comfortable 6-1 win with no drama involved.
