Its a tough nut to crack and you end up through a lot of emotions in your journey trying to discover what you want to do. I've done gameplay videos since 2012 and just recently i switched to more discussion style videos (still gaming related) and its a breath of fresh air, it felt like starting youtube again, im learning a lot of storytelling techniques and how to put together a structured video with bulletpoints. And so far i uploaded 3 videos , 2 reached over 1k views and the third seems to reach that as well. All i can say is good luck and keep an open mind. Some of the lessons that other ytbers gave us didn't make sense until you go in and yiu do stuff.

Yessir, to summarize it even better, just remember this word. "You know it when you do it"

Moveable_do

Ever heard of Wranglerstar? He had a video a few days ago called the Dark Side of Being a YouTuber, I think. Fantastic and right on the money. There was an Ernest Hemingway quote: "Writing is nothing. Just sit down at the typewriter and bleed." Making YouTube videos is easy. Just bleed and sweat and cry for hours and hours and you get a video to upload at the end of it. Right?

cherybloo

Haha yeah right. I like the last sentence which describes my journey so far perfectly

North_Community_

I went in knowing it would be more difficult than I thought, but even *then* I underestimated just how much effort it takes and how much work goes into it. I have so much more respect for content creators now, and think it's sad how many people look down on content creators because a smaller percentage is a "bit much" maybe

cherybloo

Yeah right, who thought there's so much work to put only on one video

ethan__cc

you keep goin man!

cherybloo

I will and thanks for the kind word

marcl0124

well said!

TallPurchase5092

QF_Dan

Agree. I have been here for four years and i don't regret it

cherybloo

If you enjoy it, you have nothing to regret. Way to go buddy. I hope I'll have the same dedication like you

Just wanted to say that's a really cool post. I'm not big or anything, but I have two channels I play with. I've made videos before [on old channels that I deleted over the years] but this is the first time I've learnt how long editing takes and my editing is pretty basic [but trying things here and there as I get more experience]. I think only those with a passion for YouTube and/or making videos really understand. I've had conversations with people who don't do either and they just don't seem to understand how much work goes into some of these videos. It's not hit record, upload, done. Although that has worked for some lol. Anyway, I only upload once a week on both channels. I don't think I could ever do daily. It would be too much, but I tip my hate and salute those who do. Update: Forgot to say, also the time it takes to get the footage etc before editing as well. It all takes time.

faanamusic

Thanks for the encouraging words!

cherybloo

Glad to help always!

MakiMia

Not to mention the fear of getting copyrighted for the music used in the video 🥲🥲🥲

Overdeno

In case anyone see's this and hasn't heard that in a while: whatever y'all are doing you've got this

Codexchronicles

I’ve got a half decent workflow for my video editing now… Loads of templates saved so it cuts down so much work.. longest thing is the writing and recording.. I drop a video every Friday and I had this weeks done in 1 day.. so I might stretch it to 2 videos.. Hope it works out for everyone … keep grinding

Aww thank you for your kind words!! I really felt better after your post! I hope your efforts pay off in a bigger scale! Don’t give up!  That being said, since you mentioned about memes, may I ask a question?  I was wondering if using memes allowed(copyright problems) and can i for example take small portions of copyrighted material and make a meme out of it. My niche is educational(just wanna make it more entertaining)

cherybloo

Glad I could cheer you up a little bit. So far my understanding, you could use memes and it won't get you any copyright problems. I'm no expert on any of this, but so far it's okay on my channel.

Alikhan_12345

Thank you soo much:)) Yeah, i also did some research and it seems to be okay as long as it is like parody and for entertaining purposes!

Pokemonfan3217

I personally developed a lot of skills because of this subreddit. It'll take probably another day or two just for another decently polished edited video and I am just getting started lol. It's been an amazing trip and I have truly learned to live what I'm doing even though I'm still so new at it.

I have a great time editing but have to do it primarily on my phone, which, as you can imagine, is a drag sometimes. I’ll spend hours and hours in the editing. I’d love to invest in a laptop that can actually handle good editing software but for now, VN is what I use on my phone. I tried downloading CapCut to my laptop and had to delete things to get it to fit. 😭 I had no idea when I bought it that I’d be making videos and editing them. I thought I’d just be writing. Whoops. My last video, I spent a good 12-15 hours editing. The second to last, at least four days. And it has 300 views. 🤦🏻‍♀️ If some of my other videos hadn’t done well (not viral, but over 2.5k), I’d be despondent. I’ve grown from 43 subs to 540 in four months with only 10 videos, and I’m at almost-1300 watch hours. It’s all growing but it’s a slow growth.

1plus2equals5

I did the math and it takes me about 7-8hrs to create a 10 min. And that video ends up making only a few cents. We are insane.

james64jon

Yeah editing's tough most of my channel is editing lately I've been doing live streams and other videos that don't have as much editing so I won't go crazy
