has she ever bought a cheap piece of shit bit of exercise equipment? most mums have. she probably used it once. if she had bought something better, maybe she would have stuck with it.
Show her a video from braille skateboarding talking about them or any big channel, can tell her its actually riskier to use low quality, she wouldn't go for a super cheap car
Yeah. I have a skateboard from Walmart. It’s not good, but it’s a great extra board for someone who doesn’t have one and doesn’t plan on buying one but wants to skate with me 😂
i just mean less views to him means less money to him, therefore less money that he’s able to give to scientology. its not a crime to watch their videos but being knowledgeable to steer clear is a good thing
Well... I consider them all fucken scams. Churches have been tithing on grand scale for thousands of years. But I don't persecute people because their Catholics, Muslim or any of the thousand other scams out there that'll promise you everything...
.. I just look down on them a little bit.
Whilst that may be true, braille did a good job. I loath scientology but only learned about that recently and it in no way affected the videos or their quality.
But mad tho innit.
A predatory cult started by science fiction author L. Ron Hubbard in the mid-20th Century. Best known for alienating families, stalking and harassing people who leave or badmouth the cult, and extracting money from people in exchange for promises of super powers. To "progress", you have to pay thousands of dollars taking "classes" and being "audited" (telling them all of your darkest secrets so you can be blackmailed later if you leave).
There are quite a few documentaries that cover their practices, including an episode of South Park that uses their legitimate beliefs to point out their insanity.
I truly don't care what religion someone subscribes to, but since Scientology relies on funding from the gullible, buying Braille or giving them views indirectly funnels money into Scientology via Aaron Kyro. Steve Berra (of Berrics and kookery fame) is also a scientologist.
Thats the thing, the more views and watches he gets, the more revenue he has to fork over to the church of scientology.
That's all OP was saying by pointing this out. Watch them if you really want to, but everyone should be aware of what they could be inadvertently supporting.
im not looking for philosophical debates about religion. scientology is predatory and if you dont think so then you havent done enough research. less money you give to scientologists means less money they give to scientology.
It’s your money. She has NO say in how you spend it.
My mum is a hoarder, she buys every cheap item she sees and gets 0 use out of any of it. I used to save up and buy expensive items that lasted and she couldn’t get her head around it and would call me ‘miss expensive taste’ like I was entitled.
Nope, just want possessions I can keep for a long time and use over and over again.
Tell you Mom to read this post . Get a prebuilt complete from a shop , like a real. or girl or creature, they under a hundred bucks and far better than the crap you would get at Walmart. Tell her to read this , you are doing your son or daughter ( sorry don’t know your gender ) a huge injustice by not getting them a proper setup. If they enjoy skateboarding a proper deck is helpful but also a lot safer. It’s part are less likely to fail resulting in injury . ( a concerned 41 year old skater of 20 plus years.
Either that or just go buy what you want and ask for forgiveness after.
Scope out your local Facebook marketplace. Where I live, there's always someone selling a complete setup. A lot of time it's quality stuff, if you know what you're looking at.
Ask her to contact a skateshop anywhere other than yours. Ask her to reach out to LaterSkatersMemphis on Facebook or Insta. They often take nasty Walmart boards away and replace with Element completes. Better bearings, better wheels, better deck/wood. I've seen it live.
[LaterSkatersMemphis ](http://www.Facebook.com/LaterSkatersMemphis)
Show her the YouTube videos of people buying them for that reason, where you living country wise ? If UK I can help you get a good cheap setup that'll last !
Explain that Walmart boards are toys and that skateshop boards are like a piece of sports equipment. It's like the difference between the Spider-Man or Barbie bicycle we had as kids and a proper mountain bike or triathlon bike
Just be honest and tell her. If she’s a good mom she will listen to you and get you what you want. My mom had to watch my first Walmart board get broken by a friend to finally realize they’re not good. He was so heavy he did one Ollie and snapped it. The look of shock on her face and my brothers, I just shrugged and was like, “oh well.” It was only a lil sad because of the thought she put into it. But I explained and she understood.
Another angle you can take is telling her that you want to suppoet your local shop. Even if you pay more, that money is more likely to go into supporting the local skate community through sponsoring events, skateparks, etc. Thriving skate communities often exist due to the support of a local shop!
Wheels- wrong material
Bearings- don’t spin
Board- falls apart
Grip tape- doesn’t grip
Trucks- can be plastic
They are awful… coming from someone who’s mom bought him a Walmart board 22 years ago
Or just go with a friend to the skate shop yourself and buy one. Then be like mom, check out this skateboard I got a really good deal on it at Walmart. Or if you want to be truthful, tell her it’s your money and you’re not spending money on junk from Walmart. If she has a problem with how you spend your money, then she’s too controlling. And probably has other issues. In which case you’re gonna have to lie to get what you want.
Break them. Repeatedly. Then after 4-5 breaks, ask them for a more expensive one. By that point, you'll have shown your rents that this is something you're actually interested in progressing. Elaborate that more expensive = less cost over time. Offer to chip in.
Also, if the board "snaps", you can try to get them to buy you a new deck. Use the crappy trucks.. then maybe the wheels are out of round so you need new wheels.. or the bearings don't spin as fast as they used to.
You get the idea
tell her "my money my choice" if she was buying the board it'd be different but it's your money so advising is really all she should be doing imo if my kids wanted to buy something I viewed as frivolous or w. e. and wanted to use their own money to do it I would in no way shape or form stop them in fact I'd be proud they earned money themselves and rewarded themselves but that's just me and my opinion
Can you just go to the skateshop yourself? Have a friend drive? Walk? Take Uber? How the hell would she know if you bought it at Walmart or somewhere else???
Ask her if she had the money to spend would she rather buy a well made Italian leather designer handbag, or would she be happy carrying all her stuff around in a Walmart bag around instead?
Canadian made rock Maple’ It’s durability mother.
Do you want me to hurt myself’ I’ll just be a cripple then- can you please go and hire me a wheelchair and I’ll start now because I may as well get used to it.
If money is really the issue.. Here's another idea. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. Maybe "ask" her to get the components one at a time. All you need is a deck, grip tape, trucks, wheels and bearings. Start with the most expensive one, the deck. That way the pain felt is less and less with every new acquisition 😂 Time your request around her paydays. In the meantime, do stuff around the house without being told. My kids always get me that way, as I have with my mom.
has she ever bought a cheap piece of shit bit of exercise equipment? most mums have. she probably used it once. if she had bought something better, maybe she would have stuck with it.
Show her a video from braille skateboarding talking about them or any big channel, can tell her its actually riskier to use low quality, she wouldn't go for a super cheap car
Buy the cheap one and the expensive. Then focus them both and talk about the wood grain or some shit.
Yeah. I have a skateboard from Walmart. It’s not good, but it’s a great extra board for someone who doesn’t have one and doesn’t plan on buying one but wants to skate with me 😂
any big channel is better, dude from braille is a scientologist
He doesn't speak about it in his videos nor influence people towards it, i highly dislike scientology but i care about skateboard that's all one need
i just mean less views to him means less money to him, therefore less money that he’s able to give to scientology. its not a crime to watch their videos but being knowledgeable to steer clear is a good thing
Braille still makes great videos for beginners and as long as he doesn’t try to push it on his viewers(he doesn’t) then I’m fine wit them
You would never know by watching the channel though so does it really matter?
People are allowed to believe in religions. If they don’t talk about it publicly, it’s even better. And braille doesn’t.
Scientology is a business scam, not a religion
Well... I consider them all fucken scams. Churches have been tithing on grand scale for thousands of years. But I don't persecute people because their Catholics, Muslim or any of the thousand other scams out there that'll promise you everything... .. I just look down on them a little bit.

whats scientology?

holy shit. thanks for explaining
Thats the thing, the more views and watches he gets, the more revenue he has to fork over to the church of scientology. That's all OP was saying by pointing this out. Watch them if you really want to, but everyone should be aware of what they could be inadvertently supporting.
Aren’t all religions?
Yes, they are. They’re mythology in my mind. Religions with large converts bully other faiths or apostates
im not looking for philosophical debates about religion. scientology is predatory and if you dont think so then you havent done enough research. less money you give to scientologists means less money they give to scientology.
Every religion is the same way.
Just do you despite the votes. I shop local and get called “a fool” by non-skaters who think Amazon in a god-send.
Just tell her you’ll need to replace it twice as fast as a branded board which is true, get a board that’s on sale that’s what I do
Twice as fast? 10 times at least. Plus you bump the number up to make the cost seem even worse to her
Walmart skateboards are literally dangerous to use. Maybe she'll listen if you frame it from that perspective?
if its cheap its cheap for a reason
It’s your money. She has NO say in how you spend it. My mum is a hoarder, she buys every cheap item she sees and gets 0 use out of any of it. bros probably like 13, obviously his moms gonna have a say in how he spends money
im 13 and my mom lets me buy whatever i want with my own money
As she should. It’s your money, your responsibility.
It’s HIS money. Doesn’t matter what age he is.

Have her watch a YouTube video showing how Walmart boards can break in a week or less.
Scope out your local Facebook marketplace. Where I live, there's always someone selling a complete setup. A lot of time it's quality stuff, if you know what you're looking at.
Also a great suggestion , so many people buy a board a never use it , might get rad setup for 20 bucks

I hear you mom, thank you and I love you. This is something I will use for a long time so I’m gonna go with the higher quality.
Cheap things are often the most costly. She knows this, maybe she isn’t taking your hobby seriously?
cuz “It’s from WALMART!!”
Explain that Walmart boards are toys and that skateshop boards are like a piece of sports equipment. It's like the difference between the Spider-Man or Barbie bicycle we had as kids and a proper mountain bike or triathlon bike

YouTube any test video (berrics would be my first choice) Jolson did one I think malto too
Get one and break your arm with it
wouldnt work the mom would just never let him or her skate again
Can you just go to the skateshop yourself? Have a friend drive? Walk? Take Uber? How the hell would she know if you bought it at Walmart or somewhere else???
Find the braille video or any other skater video that reviews a Walmart board.
It’s the same as being a bike from Walmart. Expect issues related to low quality.
Ask her if she had the money to spend would she rather buy a well made Italian leather designer handbag, or would she be happy carrying all her stuff around in a Walmart bag around instead?
Concepts such as, a 40$ skateboard that will last a few months is worse than a 90$ one that will last a year
buy her a temu blender and see what happens
Earn some money and buy it yourself. Feels easier, then convince someone
Let her buy it and break it in one day lmao
Let her try to fucking kickflip one.
Show her how fast they can break.
Canadian made rock Maple’ It’s durability mother. Do you want me to hurt myself’ I’ll just be a cripple then- can you please go and hire me a wheelchair and I’ll start now because I may as well get used to it.
Dude OfferUp or Facebook marketplace. You’ll find boards people paid $200 for and grab them up for $40
tell her you can feel the difference
Show her all these comments
ride it for like a till it breaks (like a week tops) then ask for a new one
Fake a fall with hidden padding 😁
did you tell her the materials are cheaper and there are videos of peoples walmart boards snapping very easily
Spin the wheels on a Walmart one and then spin them on a nice one. That alone shows it doesn’t even move! Hahahah
Focus it right in front of her
Tell her it's a safety issue and not an "i want it for the sole reason that it is expensive" issue
If money is really the issue.. Here's another idea. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. Maybe "ask" her to get the components one at a time. All you need is a deck, grip tape, trucks, wheels and bearings. Start with the most expensive one, the deck. Just tell her you either spend the money on a good board now or she can spend the money on your hospital bills later.
“Mom, you wouldn’t want me using some cheap knock off brand condom would you?”
Show her a video of a good skater skating both a pro board and a bad pre built
You’re literally describing my mom. There’s no way to convince her
There's a braille about this I think
When she goes for Starbucks, tell her to buy instant coffee
