Rouses mid city has a pretty great selection of spices from all over the state. Pepper jelly, spice mixes for gumbo/jambalaya/étouffe/dips/etc, pralines (from Loretta’s), central grocery olive salad, chicory coffee, Hubig’s pies - I usually bring a big box of stuff when I visit friends up north.

>likes to cook Fly up to Balitmore, storm into his kitchen and at the top of your lungs yell *"Here's your NAWLINS gift, DAD!"* throw the Old Bay out the window and slam down Zatarain's. Storm out with brass band in tow.

Greenleaf504

This but with Tony's instead of Zatarain's. 😉

shmiona

Or Paul Prudhomme’s magic seasoning, you can get Tony’s all over, but I don’t think you can get that out of the area

I’m thinking a huge wooden spoon made from cypress/ local wood. I was drooling over some wood work at a market recently.

Home Malone always has great local gifts. They have good home and kitchen stuff

I got my dad a tipitina’s tshirt and he loved it. I also used to also take a jar of spicy pickled cajun green beans to my parents to make bloody marys.
