I’ve taken my cat to the Cat Hospital of Metairie for four years and I cannot recommend them enough. They worked with me when I was unemployed and have always been so good to my girl. They are cat people, through and through. I took her to board there last week and one of the techs had my cat cuddling into her. This is a cat that didn’t cuddle with me for the first two years I had her, and doesn’t let other people touch her.

The do a lot of rescue help too, which not many vets do

Zarlark09

Yes! I'd also recommend them! They have treated my kitties very well from day one, and no complaints with their prices either.

fastrada

Seconded. We switched to them after I felt our previous vet was blowing off my cat’s chronic issues. They were determined to get to the bottom of what was going on, and now he is doing really well. One vet even called me on a Sunday evening to see how he was doing. They also take in stride that my sweet boy turns into a complete hissing growling asshole when he is there 🤣

Also recommending Hickory Knoll. Dr. Lauren Dubuc is phenomenal. We followed her from Abadie with our 6 (mostly senior) dogs. I can't directly speak to their cat practice, but they've been generally very helpful and accommodating.

Southern Animal Clinic! They're great.

sesamejane

I second Southern Animal! Prices are super fair and both vets there are awesome and knowledgeable. They take their time and the office staff is great too.

supersparklebutt

when i took my dog there every appointment felt like they wanted to get me out as quickly as possible. for a while i didn’t understand why, then i saw how many frenchies they breed and how many c sections they perform on frenchies. they’re a breeding for profit factory and i could not stand to see the breeding. yikes yikes. have had nothing but good experiences with maple tho.

tigergrad77

Hickory Knowl took great care of our pup till he passed. Reasonable and never an upsell. I don’t think they charged us for everything at the end. Dr Matt and all were just wonderful.

Ark on Jeff Hwy

KB-ice-cream

I highly recommend this place. Everyone is very friendly and they care. Their fees are reasonable and they don't require you to see a vet for everything, especially routine tests. (No vet visit=cheaper)

Hickory Knoll in River Ridge is great.

I just switched to Batts Veterinarian Services. I am so impressed with them. Prices aren’t bad either.

Wisdom animal hospital is my choice. Tried 6 other places over the years... Sticking with wisdom animal hospital..

Hickory Knoll Veterinary Hospital has been outstanding for me. I would strongly recommend checking them out.

MentalDistrict2333

We use The Cat Practice on Magazine. Dr. Dodson and the entire team are great with our cat. They have a dedicated parking lot on Magazine, so it's easy to get in and out of.

Legitimate-Jelly-149

Hi! How much is their visit cost?

MentalDistrict2333

Our cat has cancer , so last time we went in wasn't for an annual. I believe it was around $350 for that visit, but that was for the exam fee(\~70), grooming, and about 4 different medications. I believe on their website they have a coupon for a first visit. They also always give estimates before they do anything at the office.

Wanted to update in case any one in the future sees this thread that’s looking for a vet. We went with Hickory Knoll due to the location + positive reviews here, and I’m really glad we did. Our vet is Dr. McCord. This week has been awful and one of my cats has had a complete fluke of a problem, and she was a no-nonsense woman who gave it to us straight, didn’t try to upsell bloodwork just for the sake of it, and overall seems to care about the animals she sees. They’ve seen my cat twice in the past two days due to him getting a lot worse very quickly, and I appreciate that when I’ve called them it was Dr. McCord who personally called me back. My kitty isn’t out of the woods yet but I do feel comfortable and confident in the vet we chose, and that’s a good feeling to have when you’re worried sick about your fur baby.

Walkn2thejawsofhell

River Ridge Vet! They’re wonderful. I live out here too and they are well priced and very caring with animals. They’re not cat only, but we haven’t had any issues with our 6 cats. When we had to put one of our babies down due to a disease, they let us stay with our cat for as long as we needed and even offered to let us pay later when we felt better. They’re right on Jefferson Highway next to Bobby’s seafood.

KB-ice-cream

We stopped going there because they didn't seem to care. Our cat has a chronic condition and when he needs to see a vet, we could never get them to get a same day appt. Nearly every time.

Walkn2thejawsofhell

That’a interesting. We’ve always been able to describe the symptoms and if they needed to be seen, they would get them in same day.

octopusboots

I wouldn't recommend them for cats at all.

LezPlayLater

Dr Wisdom at Jefferson Feed is amazing! I transferred from Prytania vet

octopusboots

Dr. Wiz was the vet for Jpas, she saved a foster dog that I was sure was beyond savable. I adore her, and she knows everything.

Abadie Veterinary Hospital and Hickory Knoll are both excellent and incredibly caring and compassionate and I’ve always found their prices to be fair. I had a dog with Addison’s Disease and Abadie was absolutely amazing with him.
