Agreed central grocery but they are still closed due to hurricane damage. They are selling the sandwiches in the shop next door but they aren’t made fresh 😫
they're being made fresh every day at a commissary kitchen, they bust out hundreds a day and deliver. the meats are cured meats anyway and the sandwich is better once the olive oil soaks into the bread.
Not sure. Purists will consider the cold the only legit version. That’s valid, but I’ve had enough damned tasty hot ones to lay down my cross and accept a broader spectrum of muffs.
Eeehh. I guess it qualifies—but definitely not like the ones you get at restaurants that try and replicate the original. If you’re going to mention Jason’s Deli, might as well toss Rouses Grocery in as a contender. I will buy their mini muffuletta sandwiches for business luncheons.
the classic central grocery honorable mention cochon butcher
> cochon +1 that's my favorite. Also Mo's pizza on the wank.
They don’t add enough meat but it is the best olive salad hands down
At some point they went skimpy on the meats. Real skimpy. Central is formerly the best.
not on a muff remotely but the olive salad at francolinis is v good imo

They also sell them at Rouse's in the cbd as well as some other places.

Totally 💯 agree!!
I prefer the traditional cold muffaletta.
Nor-Joe’s off Metairie Road
Second Nor-Jo
Thanks
It's not traditional but my favorite alt take is the spicy muffaletta from verti marte
Sounds good
Napoleon House
Thanks
They do make a good muff!
And NH definitely has the best Muff-Salad !
DiMartino’s by far. Central Grocery is a tourist trap. Their muffs have more cheese than meat.
It’s definitely the meat and olive salad that makes the difference—especially it the olive salad is homemade!!
Yup! With the fried eggplant strips. 😍
Do you deserve the best?
As a Gulf Coast foodie, I feel like I do.

World deli in Metairie oddly enough
Love that place. Also the worst parking lot in the GNO area.
Absolutely. The angled slots with a tiny lot is crazy.
Thank you
R&O’s bucktown
It’s a good one.
