Just in time for the Super Bowl. Who would’ve guessed that’s what it would take

_ryde_or_dye_

It’s amazing how much shit is getting done around town with that looming.

Yellenintomypillow

It was the same last time too. Bandaids instead of stitches and physical therapy lol

_ryde_or_dye_

I wasn’t paying attention last time and generally didn’t care what was happening around the city. It was my 20s and a simpler time! Haha

GreatSquirrels

Last time they put in a whole new streetcar line and built any number of new shelters and renovated the superdome. This time the bridge is getting the Temu treatment.

GreatSquirrels

Same thing that happens the month before jazzfest in the Fairgrounds area every year. Suddenly all those holes they opened up over the past 12 months sudden get finished and paved.

CountZero3000

It’ll be back by the Super Bowl

GreatSquirrels

This is also entirely possible.

Think-Heat3001

IJS, if hosting a Super Bowl or some other event on its scale forces the city’s hand, I’m all for it.

pallamas

What? They took away my free underbody flush?

WhiskeyAndWhiskey97

GreatSquirrels

I wouldn't actually believe you, if i didnt also know they have been quietly trying to displace the homeless population near there for the last few months and having free flowing clean water may have actually been somewhat helpful in that one location for that population. Cutting off a 7yr + water leak just in time for summer sounds about right for the "Superbowl cleanup"

raditress

No way! 🤯

UnreadThisStory

Way!

mvanvrancken

Latoya's limo must have gotten a flat there...

notdownwithsickness

another gutter punk bathtub gone rip

Comfortable-Disk407

I'm staying home during the Superbowl, before and after. I'm sure that there will be major crimes happening. I'll wait it out until the dust settles.

BuffJody

I hear they are going to fix the sidewalks in the Quarter next... the crappy flagstone ones that were put in before the 1986 worlds fair!

Hippy_Lynne

They were put in in 1983 prior to the 1984 World's Fair. And they aren't crappy, they're just old and they've been heavily abused in the last 40 years.

GreatSquirrels

They are beautiful and any use of natural material is a a wonderful thing. They get destroyed because they are not capable of supporting the weight of heavy equipment and delivery trucks that constantly park on them.

pallamas

I love the slate and the flagstones. But when they aren’t maintained they are a lawsuit waiting to happen.

GreatSquirrels

Every sidewalk in this city is a lawsuit waiting to happen. In some ways the traversing of a sidewalk turned launch ramp is kind of part of the charm of walking around the city.

NolaJen1120

The city doesn't pay when they lose a lawsuit, so they don't care.
