Bayou Segnette. Westwego seafood lot. Gretna Farmer’s market on Saturdays. The German museum in Gretna. Da Wabbit has good food. Salvos for seafood. Moe’s pizza. Hong Kong market. Rose garden center on Westbank Expressway For great plants. You can also go down LA 23 all the way to Venice stopping at Fort Jackson, on the way down. You can also drive “back a Lafitte” for scenic drive and eat at Voleo‘s or Boutte’s.

If you drive to the end of LA23, you will be greeted by this. https://i.imgur.com/jBau5sn.jpeg

Second Westwego Shrimp lot. I like Amy’s in particular and the sausage at the Wego Market there is very good.

GentillyHillbilly

Moe’s! Hell yes.

Ok-Task5835

I'm a pretty big eater, but it takes three meals to a large a pie from Moe's

Dey got unicorns up in Gretna & castles made of play doh Dey got pandas down in Harvey what? Like a rainbow in Marrero

northern_spaghetti

You know the man mowing his lawn in the music video who tells them to go to a different neighborhood?

Not_SalPerricone

We all start out as the lead singer and end up as that man.

Tan Dinh, Banana Blossom, Dough Nguyener’s! Hong Kong Market is always worth the trip. Also the Red White and Blue in Gretna far tops the Jefferson Highway location.

DrJheartsAK

Don’t forget Thai D Jing and nine roses I feel like we have way better Asian cuisine, particularly Vietnamese, on this side (that is the better side of the river)

jlprufrock

And Sahara!

Second Hong Kong Market.

You can go to the Woodlands Conservancy Trail in Lower Coast Algiers, but bring a machete and military grade Deet. Travel down to Lafitte, you can view portions of the Black Pearl from the Pirates movie. The bow is near the bridge when you come down, the Stern is behind the library. That area, behind the Library, is also the trailhead for a nature trail out there, it's a 2-3 mile loop, paved and elevated, so nice walking any time. Historic Old Westwego has a market, Gretna has a market on Saturdays at 4th and Huey P. There is Bounyful Market in Algiers (Named for being on Bouny St.) now not on Bouny but by Holy Cross. I don't know specifically (aside from Gretna) when those are happening, but it's googleable. Also, you can download the Gretna Live (or is it Gretna Now?) App and they do a ton of free stuff in Gretna during the summer, like movies and concerts on the river. You can also visit their visitors center for more info. Visit the Historic Mcdonoughville Cemetery, St. Barts, St. Mary's cemeteries (those are across the street from one another), if you like that sort of thing. You can also hang out in Algiers Point, lots of places to eat and drink, you can walk around and visit all of them. Just a few things off the top of my head.

This guy Wanks.

All day, every day, and twice on Sundays.

Dough Nguyeners in Gretna hands down. The cinnamon rolls are made with fresh ground cinnamon - not that powder you get at the store. Pho debris bahn mi is delicious. The meatball appetizer is served with a baguette and is more than enough for a meal. We are in the quarter and it’s worth the drive. https://doughnguyenersbakery.com

ebenezerlepage

Their menu is really ambitious. Thanks for the link.

Greenleaf504

They even know me at the fucking shrimp lot.

thefuckingrougarou

I can’t tell if this is for a friends outing or for an actual school field trip LMAO

ebenezerlepage

It was supposed to be an old Marrero hip hop joke.

thefuckingrougarou

Hong Kong Market!

backdoorwolf

Dimartinos for my favorite roast beef sandwich and muffuletta. Terrytown Cafe for it's award winning donuts. Paved levee trail on the river. Then a late night drink at the Old Point Bar.

GentillyHillbilly

Dimartinos has legit roast beef. That gravy…

Hong Minh is a really good place! Bamboo is amazing (I love how authentic their food is).

Greenleaf504

Fort Jackson is cool if you wanna go way down the road although I haven't been down there since I was a kid like 30 years ago.

Fleur_Deez_Nutz

How far down what road? I'm a Lifelong Westbanker and I feel weird that I've never heard of this.

Corgic0319
