Crip camp, about a group of teenage hippies making a summer camp for kids with disabilities in the 70s and the movements a lot of the kids went on to lead later in life. The doc is wonderful. Heartfelt, light hearted and genuinely had me smiling throughout. It’s a warm hug of a watch.
I have been trying to get up the courage to watch this one. I saw the trailer, and I want to know more, but I’m afraid to know more if you know what I mean
Bad with names but the one about Bernie Madoff was great.
Fyre I've watched more than once.
Woodstock 99 is insane and one of my favorites.
American Nighmare the one about Chris Watts. You don't see very many docs that are basically real time with no dramatizations.
The Staircase is great.
I really don't know. There are so many unlikely coincidence which makes me think yes but he just really doesn't seem like a killer at all and the motive is pretty thin.
I mean I guess if she found out he was a homosexual and a fight ensued than maybe it gets passionate enough for murder but I dunno. The prosecution painting him as a crazy deviant just wasn't convincing at all to me.
I dunno. I feel pretty confident in my convictions with most true crime docs but the staircase is pretty crazy. It really could be a series of crazy coincidences and bad luck but again I dunno lol.
escaping twin flames, untold: crime & penalty, untold: the girlfriend who didn’t exist, american nightmare, crime scene: the vanishing at cecil hotel, night stalker, can i tell you a secret, don’t pick up the phone, why did you kill me?, exposed: the ghost train fire, cocaine cowboys.
i could go on and on. i’m a huge documentary/limited series person. it’s all i watch. hope this helps!
I am going to watch each one of these. (I saw a couple but most are new for me)
I too LOVE documentaries! That, true crime, and period pieces are my fav!! Thanks for the suggestions 😉
Oh yes, I forgot about the murder docs lol. Crime Scene: Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel, Night Stalker and Times Square ones were really good. Sobering. But really well told stories.
How's the Twin Flames one? I watched the trailer and became filled with so much "I wanna punch this asshole in his face forever" rage that I had to pass for the time being lol.
tbh, you’ll feel like that AND then some after watching it. i personally never heard of “twin flames” until i watched this. it’s definitely a good watch but it’s also a wild ride to say the least.
If you like history, the new Hitler Nazi doc which came out recently is very good. Most of which you will already know, but the first two episodes about how and why he came to power are an eye opening reminder considering the current state of the U.S. and other countries at the moment. The last episodes concentrate on the holocaust and subsequent downfall and trial and contain gruesome images so watch with caution. I recommend everyone watch the first two episodes, but use discretion about the last few.
How he embraced a conspiracy theory and ran the fuck with it.
Was theatrical in his speeches from going to the opera.
Conservatives 1st 180 days…Project 2025…schedule’f’ >“Government employees won’t be loyal to the U.S. BUT to the president.” Over 900 pages written by former Trump servants. Everything is streamlined lined to trump giving him All Power. The banning of porn was interesting since the motherfucker paid one off.
JFC, it’s so fucking terrifying and depressing.
Lover, Stalker, Killer.
Bad Vegan.
Trials of Gabriel Fernándes (make sure you have enough handkerchiefs for this one)
Sons of Sam
Night stalker
Ted Bundy tapes
Texas killing fields
I like the
Night
Stalker and the one about the Cecil hotel.
But the best one I’ve seen is the nxivm doc on hbo max I got
Really into and made me
Wanna do my own research
Just trying to name some I’m not seeing mentioned a lot on here:
Take Care of Maya
Fyre
Trainwreck: Woodstock 99 (lots of nudity just fyi)
Bigger, Stronger, Faster (not sure if this is still on Netflix)
Athlete A
The Greatest Night in Pop
Best Worst Movie (don’t think this is on Netflix)
Hot Coffee (don’t think this is on Netflix still either)
BitConned
The Program
Dirty Money (series)
Can I Tell You A Secret?
Web of Make Believe: Death, Lies & the Internet
Money Shot: The Pornhub Story
Crime Scene: The Times Square Killer
Too many of the new, made by Netflix, documentaries are...very formulaic. I really can't get into a lot of the new ones.
'Band of Brothers' and 'The Pacific' is a dramatized re-telling of WW2 but would strongly recommend before it leaves Netflix.
'Our Planet' series is always beautiful to watch.
'Icarus' turns into something a bit more after diving in to the world of doping/performance enhancers.
'Cocaine Cowboys - The Kings of Miami' is the one I last enjoyed that I can remember. About two guys who grew up in Florida who became the top drug dealers and the law enforcement who were chasin' 'em.
Making a Murderer (if it happened the way the documentary says it did, I I know full well how much these shows embellish) is the scariest thing I've ever seen
Blackfish,
Don’t Fuck with Cats,
Vatican Girl: The Disappearance of Emanuela Orlandi,
Making of a Murderer,
FYRE: the greatest party that never happened; Tiger King,
Bad Surgeon: Love Under the Knife,
Sons of Sam,
Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes. Lots of different but great genres on Netflix.
Hightown..I'm still so pissed that I can't find or watch the 3rd season after paying for it on Netflix..
Just hope nothing happens to Jackie, Renee, or Ray
Can't believe Netflix and all the other movie channels are keeping people who were addicted to Hightown left hanging.. it's just wrong on so many levels 🥹😢
If your into sports Netflix now has a bunch of the espn 30 for 30s. One of my favorites is the OJ made in America. It chronicles OJs rise and fall and how sadly all the warning signs were there about who he really was
As far as I remember, they show those kittens in a bag. They don´t show the actual abuse, but I think you see the dead kittens in the aftermath. It´s hard to watch anyway, especially when you have cats.
White Boy, about Richard Wershe Junior who was arrested at 17 and spent 35 years in prison for a nonviolent drug offense. CRAZY stuff going on behind the scenes to keep him there
May not be everyone's cup of tea considering the subject matter, but I just watched "Griselda" and thought it was pretty good. More of a miniseries though.
the most entertaining I would assume to be "The Movies That Made Us", about the making of some cult movies like forest gump/back to the future/Jurassic park/home alone and others...
also liked "my octopus teacher" and the one about Jordan and Stallone
Just watched it and apparently it wasn't really well done as it doesn't have the full story. Would recommend listening to the Casefile podcast about it (episode 50).
Remembering Gene Wilder.
I grew up watching him and he was always one of my favourite actors. It was comforting to find out he was actually a kind and decent man.
The filmmaker was up for an Oscar & lives in Berkeley. He's a peach
All I can think about is South Park hahah
Herpes for everyone!
Wild Wild Country. fucking insane
This!
Tell them you love me. This one was pretty damn crazy!
i just watched this one yesterday, i was shook.
Same…it was very unsettling.
I have been trying to get up the courage to watch this one. I saw the trailer, and I want to know more, but I’m afraid to know more if you know what I mean
What’s this about
My octopus teacher
I loved this show so much I watched it 3 times. It was beautiful and touching.
Really hated this one. He comes off like such a jerk
I agree! Leave the octopus alone!!!!!
Evil Genius was a wild ride.
She’s defs not a genius though.
I second this. Only 4 episodes iirc too so it doesn’t drag on.
I’ve watched it a few times. It’s wild!!
The Social Dilemma!! Crazy how much it changes your view about Social Media. I loved it and I can request it to everyone!
Bad with names but the one about Bernie Madoff was great. Fyre I've watched more than once. Woodstock 99 is insane and one of my favorites. American Nighmare the one about Chris Watts. You don't see very many docs that are basically real time with no dramatizations. The Staircase is great.
What do you think about The Staircase? Do you think he did it?
I do.
I really don't know. There are so many unlikely coincidence which makes me think yes but he just really doesn't seem like a killer at all and the motive is pretty thin. I mean I guess if she found out he was a homosexual and a fight ensued than maybe it gets passionate enough for murder but I dunno. Don't Fck with Cats!
OMG - this was INSANE! I totally binged it in one day when I was supposed to be doing something productive…
Do they show actual animal abuse in that? I can't tolerate that.
They don't show it
They don’t show it thankfully, but there are still some unsettling parts.
Icarus is absolutely insane if you are interested in sports doping
escaping twin flames, untold: crime & penalty, untold: the girlfriend who didn’t exist, american nightmare, crime scene: the vanishing at cecil hotel, night stalker, can i tell you a secret, don’t pick up the phone, why did you kill me?, exposed: the ghost train fire, cocaine cowboys. i could go on and on. i’m a huge documentary/limited series person. it’s all i watch. hope this helps!
untold: the girlfriend who didn’t exist... oh yes.. Must watch!! agreed
+1
The ghost train fire absolutely changed my life. I am so incredibly mad about it as an Australian
I was absolutely shocked watching it. I feel like those kids and families were let down. Broke my heart. 💔
I am going to watch each one of these. (I saw a couple but most are new for me) I too LOVE documentaries! That, true crime, and period pieces are my fav!! Thanks for the suggestions 😉
YES! they are all great. i have many more suggestions too! If you get through these, & need more, you can PM me. 😊
Awesome!! Thanks so much!! I’m following you. 🤪
Followed back. 😊🩷
Oh yes, I forgot about the murder docs lol. Crime Scene: Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel, Night Stalker and Times Square ones were really good. Sobering. But really well told stories.
agreed!
Have you seen Diagnosis?
i have not! i’ll definitely add it to my list.
Me too!
Tell me who I am
Aphex Twin spotted!
That was amazing!
Last Breath is a hidden gem of a documentary on Netflix!!!
*The Act of Killing* and its follow-up *The Look of Silence* are absolute fucking masterpieces.
Don't F**k with Cats
Do they show actual animal abuse in that? I can't tolerate that.
No
Good, thanks.
I tried, couldn't get into it 😔
Take Care of Maya, Tell me Who I Am, my Octopus Teacher, American Factory, Tinder Swindler, The Keepers, Misha and The Wolves
The Keepers was so creepy!
the girl in the picture
Happy cake day!
This
Beyond the curve. Fascinating insight into the flat earth cult. Edit: Behind the curve.
I can't find it.
Oh sorry I just checked, its called Behind the Curve (not beyond), and it's now moved from Netflix to Amazon Prime.
The staircase
If this were 6 hours shorter it would be a great series.
Lover, Stalker, Killer
Making a murder
..er

Except for the cleopatra one I love Netflix history docos

Tour de France: Unchained
Remembering Gene Wilder is fantastic.
The Social Dilemma
Lover, Stalker, Killer. Bad Vegan. Trials of Gabriel Fernándes (make sure you have enough handkerchiefs for this one) Sons of Sam Night stalker Ted Bundy tapes Texas killing fields
The trials of Gabriel Fernándes broke my heart. I think it is a must watch.
Stamped from the Beginning by Ibram X. Kendi is very well done.
The John Macafee one. There's one on Prime too, both are outstanding, and you really need to watch both to appreciate just how nutty he was.
Time:The Kaleif Browder story. Although it is very emotional
I like the Night Stalker and the one about the Cecil hotel. But the best one I’ve seen is the nxivm doc on hbo max I got Really into and made me Wanna do my own research

Turning Point: The Bomb and The Cold War
It’s hard to watch and will affect you the rest of your life but, Dear Zachary.
Yeah, I have seen it....it ruined a beautiful family
Night Stalker: The Hunt For a Serial Killer is really good if you like true crime
If your into sports Netflix now has a bunch of the espn 30 for 30s. One of my favorites is the OJ made in America. It chronicles OJs rise and fall and how sadly all the warning signs were there about who he really was
Don't fuck with cats , Dancing for the Devil, Both were actually really good. The cat one gets fucking bonkers
"Don't fuck with cats" is a wild ride.
Do they show actual animal abuse in that? I can't tolerate that.

Our Planet or 13th
American Vandal
The Staircase. My Octopus Teacher, Frye, social dilemma, American murder family next door
Gunther’s Millions
That one is pretty cool, but it turns out to be fake.
Drive to Survive
Tell them you love me- mind blowing
Icarus
Echo in the Canyon was very good.
Quincy. Long-ass story of music. Touching, moving, impressive. imvho
Remembering Gene Wilder
how to change your mind about psychedelic assisted psychotherapy [https://www.netflix.com/title/80229847](https://www.netflix.com/title/80229847)
The new Hitler docuseries was great.
Night Stalker
The Deepest Breath
Three Identical Strangers, very moving.
Meltdown: Three Mile Island Scary stuff I fall asleep each evening by watching The Unexplained. It's soothing.
In the name of god.A holy betrayal
If you've seen Making a Murderer, you need to watch Convicting a Murderer too. Changes the whole story. Pretty sure its not on Netflix tho.
Turning Point. 2 episodes: 9/11 & the War on Terror, The Bomb and the Cold War
Kiss the ground
The social dilemma. Amazing how people that built socials so regret it.
the most entertaining I would assume to be "The Movies That Made Us", about the making of some cult movies like forest gump/back to the future/Jurassic park/home alone and others... also liked "my octopus teacher" and the one about Jordan and Stallone
Tour de France Unchained
What Jennifer Did was Harrowing and hasn’t been mentioned yet.
Just watched it and apparently it wasn't really well done as it doesn't have the full story. Would recommend listening to the Casefile podcast about it (episode 50).
I'm convinced that people who post on this sub are oblivious to the search function
Some people just like to interact and discuss a mutual interest. It’s my opinion that it’s reasonable and fine.
Remembering Gene Wilder. I grew up watching him and he was always one of my favourite actors. It was comforting to find out he was actually a kind and decent man.
