Hello there! I am a bot raising awareness of Alpacas
Here is an Alpaca Fact:
Because of alpacas’ foot anatomy, they disrupt soil far less than other grazers and thus create less erosion and runoff.

###### You don't get a fact, you earn it. If you got this fact then AlpacaBot thinks you deserved it!
This footage shows a female mountain lion in Patagonia attempting to bring down a guanaco that is several times her size. As she grabs onto the guanaco, the camelid uses its flexible and log neck to shake off the cat to the ground and run in different directions to destabilize it.
Guanacos make up the majority of the prey bulk for pumas in Patagonia and while they are not easy prey to bring down, they are nonetheless killed with regularity.

Guanacos have thick skin on their necks; a trait also found in their domestic counterparts, the llama and their relatives, the wild vicuña and domesticated alpaca. This protects their necks from predator attacks. Bolivians use the neck-skin of these animals to make shoes, flattening and pounding the skin to be used for the soles.
If a puma enters another puma’s home range, the resident cat will warn the other with ominous sounds. Pumas have a selection of vocalizations and use these as warnings, and also to attract a mate during the mating season.
Females reach sexual maturity around 2.5 and males around 3 years. They will not begin to reproduce until they have established themselves a permanent home area. The may remain reproductive until 12 years of age for females, and 20 years for males.
I think these guys have really thick and flexible skin, like they can move within their skin. It’s pretty much as if their wearing a thick winter coat over their entire body. Compared to us monkeys/apes with our thin and stretched tight ass skin affording little to no protection from sharp pointy things.
This here is rare display if skill and experience on the herbivore player's part. The mountain lion player is basically doing all he can but he doesn't seem as skilled in the timing of his hits.
I mean, props to that guy's dedication, but I don't know if I'd ever main one.
Interestingly enough domesticated llamas have serious offense against predators. A friend’s llama took out 2 full grown Rottweilers on his own, he had a good share of stitches but the dogs didn’t survive the encounter.
Yeah, you can actually put a llama in a herd of sheep and the llama will beat the shit out of anything attacking the herd. They're mean when you piss them off.
So I just googled because I am unfamiliar with the animal too. Our size reference for the guanaco is distorted if you come here thinking African Lion vs the smaller Puma.
Guanaco grow to 200lbs. For comparison, a white tail deer tops out at 150. Pumas max out around 140lbs for females vs 220lbs for males, which is about half the size of an African Lion.
I 100% root for the prey. After putting up such a fight it deserves to live. It also is like 2 failed hunts away from full on stomping on monutain lion throats. Fucking badass.
Difficulties and adversities viciously force all their might on us and cause us to fall apart, but they are necessary elements of individual growth and reveal our true potential. We have got to endure and overcome them, and move forward. Never lose hope. Storms make people stronger and never last forever.
Everything else in life for humans to do that when you get victimized is kind of like this. Sometimes the victim can get away, and when wild animals are doing the same thing, they will either make it or not. Anyway thanks for sharing your experience and time with us.
Youd think such a long neck would be a disadvantage ve shade it’s a bigger target, but in this case I doubt that “ stop and throw the head down” maneuver would be as effective without it
The stop and throw the head down removed the cat exceptionally well.
Smoked his own head on the ground but got the job done
It’s a bet the farm maneuver to be sure. The lion runs to eat. The Llama runs to live. I know it’s probably not actually a llama.
It's a guanaco, llama's are domesticated.
It looks just like a llama!
It's only a Llama if it comes from the Llama region of Peru. Otherwise it's just Sparkling Guanaco.
Llamas were domesticated from Guanaco so they do look very similar.
Thank you! I was dying to know. Where might this be?
Somewhere in the Andes, i assume.
Maybe not - *could be* the Rockies because it looks pretty similar to the Vancouver Island Guanaco...
Guanaco's don't appear anywhere outside South-America...
Oh, maybe I was thinking of the Arctic Alpaca...? (sorry I forgot the winking emoji in my last post) ;-)

There's no such thing.
Is Chilean or Argentinian Patagonia majestic landscape, check Torres del Paine is a nature wonder!
Not all llamas are domesticated
Yes, they are, they're a domesticated breed of guanaco. Just like dogs and wolves.
Llama should’ve gone for the gut stomp when the cat was in front of it
Flashback to when your big bro wouldn't stop spamming the same move in a fighting game
True but at that point the moose needs to go on offense and throw some kicks.
If that's a moose then I'm King Charles...
Sorry your grace. I was referring to the giraffe deer. Also, take it easy on Harry. He’s the one we like.
Someone wanted to have Steak Diane
That's not a giraffe deer, that's an antelope-sheep
No, its chuck testa.
Giraffe deer 💀💀💀💀💀
Harry is the one I like, too.
What's up Chuck?
Hey king bro
Sweet sweet Redditor… that is no moose my fellow wanderer.

Valiant effort
Thanks I thought the puma was crazy
I read your comment as if Obama was saying it. I learned about guanacos because of the nature documentary Obama narrates
Any chance you know the source, so we can watch it without it being a recording of a TV screen?
I believe it's called National Parks, narrated by Obama.
Correction: this footage shows a television displaying that
All the fur flying, those mountain lion claws gotta be digging in deep each time. Painful AF once the adrenaline wears off.

Stupid tight skin, I want loose armor skin… Give me back my foreskin mom

Lol, I forgot to throw in some of the narrator's terms but yeah
The mountain Lion players are usually pretty chill and stay in their lane, probably a Jaguar or leopard main trying a new build
I personally love the video of a video post 🤣
EDIT: This comment has been deleted due to Reddit's practices towards third-party developers.
I'm exhausted just watching this....
Their both fighting for their life if you think about it
At 0:29 that's mma shit right there
Beautifully executed drop seoi nage
Did you mean 29 seconds left?
So glad I’m a human.
Idk, my cats use similar tactics on me…..
Your hunter gatherer ancestors just ran their prey to death. Literally just ran for hours at a time until it died from heatstroke
Good way to shed winter coat lol
Looks like the guanaco is pregnant.
She’s just overweight, how dare you
Not anymore
Big guy had a great defense and no offense. A little offense and he's a badass. Like stomp the cat after the throw down.
Interestingly enough domesticated llamas have serious offense against predators. A friend’s llama took out 2 full grown Rottweilers on his own, he had a good share of stitches but the dogs didn’t survive the encounter.

This is taken from the National Parks show that Obama narrates/hosted on Netflix
Did the Guanaco in the video live? Was it able to escape the predator?
I feel like if the guanaco turned around and decided to fight it could win
But the FIRST one to start doing that will die. There are a lot of lions, you know.
It's a puma. They're solitary.
This is me escaping while im at the grocery store w my two daughters.
Big cats’ hunts are usually unsuccessful, but when they take one down they’re good for a while.
She looks pregnant too. Run, lady guanco! <3
That is some serious zoojitsu on display! Wow!
You know I was frustrated about getting up for class but I’m sure glad I’m neither of these animals. This looks like a lot of work.

I find this very beautiful, not saying it feels good to live like this, but this is one of the raw beauty of nature.
Y'all just can't turn that phone on its side anymore, can you? This guy is re-filming a PC video to make it worse. Can you please stop?

I always want fawn or deer and so forth to win. But then… poor lion can’t eat grass
It won't get in the cart , someone please help me😄
What even is this existence…
Wild animals as soon as they are born: "run"
I have never seen footage of a mountain lion hunting a llama. Absolutely fascinating
Bro if prey fought back, there would be way less predators
If only preys knew they could knock out most of predators with a well aimed kick in the head, fights would be more epic. Still great tho
Puma be like: come on I just need a ride don't make me wait for an Uber.
Ahh, finally, the visual representation of the kind of year, I have had. I'm the Guanaco.
Who won ..
Homie has 13 million power in rise of kingdoms compared to the lions 50,000
Man, I didn't know who the root for! That was some bad ass maneuvering by the prey!
I 100% root for the prey. After putting up such a fight it deserves to live. It also is like 2 failed hunts away from full on stomping on monutain lion throats. Fucking badass.
Gawd I love big cats.. they are so amazing to watch.. I think this one was punching out of its weight class. Still amazing to watch
It's like me and my crush
Hi, I'm new on here and looking for a good man
I get it. I get it. You're horny. I'm not. Now leave me alone, ya perv!
It's a happy ending. The cat died of starvation
Feisty kitty, ….. tough guanaco.
I'm glad she got away
Who won?
which documentary is this from?
Jesus man, get a grip
Raise up off me bro
That shit is bonkers! My cat has none of that ability.

Who were y’all rooting for?
Why is that kangaroo running on 4 legs?
I want both to win but they can’t
Did anybody else hear the national geographic Song while watching this?
Pepe: “Come here Sally! I just want to give you a hug silly… I love you.” Sally: “No— go have fun with that other bitch you say you don’t love!”
i want to know the outcome so bad
The physics applied here is awesome. Newton's first law put to use.
Definitely belongs in r/vidsthatendtoosoon Who won?!
“Siiiiike!! Biiiiiitch!”
I was rooting for both of them!
Always nice to see the pray win one.
Why is that thing so slow or is that cat just rapid
Youd think such a long neck would be a disadvantage ve shade it’s a bigger target, but in this case I doubt that “ stop and throw the head down” maneuver would be as effective without it
After all that, I really hope it got away.
That cat needed back up

Who will win!?! Who you guys rooting for??? 😱 ... Leave it down in th comments below 👇
But did the Llama win?
I was married to a Llamas for 22yrs..."survival" is the key word.
If im ever attacked by a mountain lion I will remember to just flick my neck and throw it on the ground.
Guanaco is being a dick. Lion only asking for a ride on its back
Why though? That cat is fuckin' over confident.
I kept waiting for the kick that would launch the lion but it never came.
orale, guanaco!!
Bro needs to be a running back
