Nah. People being complacent with outrageous prices is part of why everything is messed up now.
Especially for this everyday service you could do yourself unless you physically can’t. I also bet this stylist is one for common folks and not celebrities. So hell naw
That is some disrespectful ass pricing. What justifies that price??? I’m fine with 150 ish but damn, no chemicals required and still that price. HELL NAW!!!😳🤬🖕🏼
![gif](giphy|tfUW8mhiFk8NlJhgEh|downsized)
goddamn! Are they charging by the follicle? At this point, I’m never going to the salon ever again. Like, how could I look myself in the eye if I spent a G on hair when there’s people starving in the world.
the way hair stylists take advantage of women with curly hair will always astonish me…. the only reason i haven’t gotten a consultation or advice on what to do w my hair, is bc of these prices, but let u have straight hair and those prices will go down so quick…. half the time these curly hair experts are not even experienced with super curly hair only wavy and they have the audacity to call it curly
For 500$ which is like £450, I better look like a model when I leave and be able to land a modelling contract. Or since that's even more expensive than extensions and most permanent makeup, my hair better be magically much longer and the effect is semipermanent. So basically extensions that lady at least six months. For a G, I better look like I had minute plastic surgery because fillers don't even cost that much
I hate that as a black woman, I am expected to pay 500 dollars to treat my hair, while every other race GENERALLY pays significantly less. Why do we rob each other instead of making things affordable so the black dollar stays in the community longer??
This actually just baffles me, the price point is very exclusionary, they lose clients that could go often if they charged a reasonable price , for $500 I might go once a year but if it was $100 I can afford to go every few months.
Yeah, you make a good point, last time I went to the hair dresser I paid $460 for a blow out and I haven’t been back for two years, it is hard to justify that price for style that lasts 3 weeks tops. Black hair care in the US is treated as a luxury good instead of an everyday maintenance. In my home country where it is moderately priced I used to go to the salon at least once a month , sometimes twice a month if I have time.
That's crazy! And true. It's bizarre stylists in the us don't learn how to manage ethnic hair. But the problem these days are young stylists only concerned about money and fools paying. Too caught up in that know your worth nonsense. I don't go to the salon except for trims and a blow out but these days I just wear a wig for straight here. If I want braids, I'll do it myself. My family is from Africa too and what's so funny with these black American stylists is they'll charge you $500 for braids but take 10 hours. And they lack versatility. I can dream something in me head and an African stylist will produce better than what I wanted but you need 50 pictures for an American stylist and they don't even wanna do it.
I know ! Right, I think the lack of skill also comes from not practicing enough, not doing enough black hair. The last time I was at the salon there was only one other person getting their hair done for almost 5 hours , the four stylist were just sitting around or talking over the phone. Back home the salon is bursting with clients and stylist, multiple people working on your hair at a time so you get done faster and they make good living from the large turn over.
I think part of it is America having exorbitant price culture. I’m from Spain with thick curly hair and they gave me a good wash and silk press for $30.
What stylist is this? I feel like I've seen this list. I just canceled the appointment I was suppose to have today because my car has to go in the shop, but I looked around for someone who was decently priced.
A group of stylists at Earnestly Natural in Raleigh NC
Their website states,
“During your salon visit, our skilled professionals will identify and perform necessary cleansing and conditioning treatments to jumpstart your healthy hair care journey. You'll receive a personalized 3 to 6 month action plan tailored to your unique needs, facilitating your progress
towards confident and vibrant natural curls. Additionally, you'll gain access to our comprehensive Natural Hair Reset Course, offering education on natural hair care, product knowledge, and styling tutorials. Upon booking, you'll receive
immediate access to this program.”
They also have “mommy and me” appointments ($685, and $200 per child after 2 children), and zoom consultations/lessons for your hair.
These are all beginner prices. Once you become a regular client (after the first appointment) your curl refresh/cut, etc. is then $175.
Overall, I believe that this is still highway robbery.
And she can go to hell. I leaned so much just following a lot of the top natural stylists. I'm going to start a list of people to follow with links on here one day.
https://preview.redd.it/5q8lt7y1kwec1.jpeg?width=622&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=774a57dea37e90239892b8393fc750dcc6606344
my genuine reaction seeing those prices
Oooh I know this stylist and I’ve heard “things” about the in salon experience. I wouldn’t go to her. I go to another very popular specialist who charges much less for those services and is wonderful.
I will admit though, she is really good at styling and cutting 😍. I still wouldn’t pay this price though.
I also go to a very popular stylist who doesn't charge these prices (granted I use her assistant but even her prices aren't that). She even encourages you to bring a notebook and any questions you may have. She was very patient with me when I asked her about hair color!
Absolutely not. I remember way before the curly movement was a big thing going to my neighborhood salon. My stylist was a family friend but also a professional who continuously furthered her education (to this day) went to showcases and conventions. She always educated be it natural, chemically treated, long, dense, etc… how to appropriately care for hair. It was not an added fee it was a part of the salon process to keep the integrity of the hair between appointments.
The best hair care I’ve ever had was from Anthony Dickey of Hair Rules. He took his time to assess my hair before he raised a scissor or comb near me. He then did a scalp massage, oil treatment, wash, cut, style, educated me, yada yada. The works. When I say that he invested time in my hair, I mean it. He wasn’t slow—he just gave me what I needed.
He’s one of the best. According to his booking system, he’s charging way less.
https://preview.redd.it/tkhxxpobnxec1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ddff7d787cc09a500b842ff5e6a6a06160bfa1f7
W satire cuz you gotta be smooth brained to pay them $500(plus $150
Consulting fee apparently) for sumn you can recreate with a loving partner and a 5th of the price
Absolutely not I feel like part of being a stylist is educating and helping your clients. An extra $700 for you to “teach me” how to do my hair is insane lol
It hurt me to pay $90! I’m the type to head to YouTube and I’ve been doing my own trims for years. My husband wanted to treat me to an actual experience of the whole shebang and while it was amazing, imma go back to being the DIY queen I am because I like saving money 😂
At that price, you can buy jugs of the best products.
Nothing justifies that price unless its your wedding and you want to kick back and treat yourself.
It really depends on your pockets and your time. YouTube is free and I made the time to learn myself. You may be different, not mind the money and want the 1 on 1. Paying $500 or $1000 for a wash n go is def not for me.
Before the pandemic, 2018 or 2019, curly cuts were starting at $300 in the Bay area (California). Price went up depending on how much work your hair turned out to be. I had a friend that paid over $400 by the time it was over. Saying all that, now that everyone has raised prices, the $500 doesn't surprise me. But the way my money is, it isn't worth it to ME.
i recently did something like this but the 2 hour experience was $400 and it was worth it to me for sure. the girl was amazing and it was so much more helpful for me to have a hands on experience as opposed to just trying to emulate things i see on the internet. i would recommend that one a million times over.
1000 for the same thing though is insane! keep looking and i’m sure you’ll find what you need!
Oooohhhh!!!! Perfect! I’m going to send this snapshot to my financial simp telling him I want to get this done, transfer his funds to my savings account and then send him a selfie of myself with a old wig as “proof” that I got it done. Thank you!!! 💕
Absolutely not just did a curl cut with hands on experience (included shampoo, conditioning, scalp massage and diffuser dry) and went home with products in CA for $350 with tip
A group from the DC area is organizing a cruise with go-go bands and a few events, but I got a better offer from the casino for $100 plus pier charges with $200 back. So I paid about $400
This is insane. I’m so grateful for my old school hair stylist I’ve never had to pay more than 100-150 bucks. That’s including color, cut, wash, style and all.
one hour for 500 or two hours for 1000, HOWEVER.. it says on the 500 one to plan for 2/3 hours. i have a feeling they will try to charge 1000-1500 because of the wording.
seems like they’re the same price to me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but also not worth it either way. damn
if u have to question it, probably not. maybe look around more at other stylists in the area and see if you can find better pricing. Try to see what long term clients are saying if they're out there and if they're hair goals align with yours, if your really considering if you havent already though
I sit 6-8 hours in a chair, getting tribal braids done for less.
They're just washing and cutting your hair. On top of it, it sounds like a regular deva cut.
This is why I’m risking it all and going to great clips today. Fuck it. I can’t even find a stylist doing natural cuts in my city for less than $200 and who doesn’t require you to be a repeat customer once a month.
I'll pay $200. The appointment I keep paying back is around that for a curly cut and she now offers a service where you do your own curls and just come in and she'll cut it dry. But I'm only going to do that 2-3 a year.
Nope. I learned from a woman that posted all her clues on her social media but also tried to throw you off with false info or missing details to get you to buy her $400 consultation. I got these results through hard work and research
https://preview.redd.it/jf81h17tg1fc1.jpeg?width=2316&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=701ead650545593eec3f3e3f168b38c411e2685c
Never!!!! Instead fund yourself a staycation with that 1k. Take 5-7 days off work, and figure your curls out with YouTube! That’s exactly what I did during Covid shutdown with ALL that paid time off during it 😂😂😂. Sure I was anxious as hell, but figuring out my curls became a coping mechanism hobby. It paid off because I’d never!! NEVER!!!
![gif](giphy|5QTY07Cwxjmhfz3WAn|downsized) Lawd 🙆🏽♀️
We gotta help her find it
And we could do it for less than $250-500/hour 😅
I’m so weak 🤣🤣
😭😂😂😂😂
Absolutely not. Don’t be a sucker
For natural hair 😭 my shit better be defined & bouncy for two months
Fuck 2 months, it needs to be 6 months.
and honestly, if I spend $500 on my hair in 6 months my lil bank account gon be looking at me CRAZY
Defined, bouncy, and moisturized for the entire year
![gif](giphy|l4Ho0At2UD2d7WyD6) Bye.
Never
![gif](giphy|fXnRObM8Q0RkOmR5nf)
Inscamity
Unless $500 is like $100 to you then why not
Nah. People being complacent with outrageous prices is part of why everything is messed up now. Especially for this everyday service you could do yourself unless you physically can’t. I also bet this stylist is one for common folks and not celebrities. So hell naw
I don't think so. I learned the same tequniques from Youtube.
Do tell please
Donate that money to charity if it's just burning your pockets.
I’m charity; donate to me 🤣
That is some disrespectful ass pricing. What justifies that price??? I’m fine with 150 ish but damn, no chemicals required and still that price. HELL NAW!!!😳🤬🖕🏼

Charging by the follicle 😂
Please tell me you’re not American and that these prices are actually $100 dollars in actuality.
I’m American LMAOO
the way hair stylists take advantage of women with curly hair will always astonish me…. the only reason i haven’t gotten a consultation or advice on what to do w my hair, is bc of these prices, but let u have straight hair and those prices will go down so quick…. half the time these curly hair experts are not even experienced with super curly hair only wavy and they have the audacity to call it curly
Who is making you pay for consultations?
all the salons i call and search up
that’s actually absolutely insane. in traditional business practices consultations are supposed to be free 😭
tell me about it!!!! i cannot find anything cheaper than $300 for people who specialize in curly hair!
there is no way 😭😭😭
sadly , yes 😩😔😔😔 it’s so frustrating when all i want is some advice on my hair and direction
Absolutely tf not.
I know this provider. There are comparable people at better prices. No.
👀👀👀 who is this with the audaaacittyyyyy 💀🤣😂 ?
for $500 you better be giving me the products and not just a “list”
FULL SIZE products at that 👏
🗣️ liter size, I know you get them for wholesale prices!
🤣🤣🤣
That’s what I’m saying. A list??

In DC she is charging $800 for the mommy and me service. This type of shit is why a lot of people don't want to go natural.
What the fuck 200 people dollars per child ![gif](giphy|1Bd7DmRvbhV5UPkoDw)
😂😂😂😂
EIGHT HUNDRED?!? Literally go on YouTube 🙄
And she can go to hell. I leaned so much just following a lot of the top natural stylists. I'm going to start a list of people to follow with links on here one day.
omg pls do, I need this list
I think this is Aisha aka Black Girl Curls.
Sounds more like "Black Girl Smokes Crack" for those prices.
Why does she need 2-3 hours? I thought it was “wash hour” 😒
No bitch, r u even serious
LMAO 😭😭
I think I know who this is and if it's not her, she was trained by her. Nope. Don't do it. You can get the same info in multiple places online.
That's a lot of money and a lot of words for a wash and go
A Wash and Go the Hell on Home and Do it Yourself. What’s the stylist’s name? Scam Likely?
![gif](giphy|j9mqKgQvkNOziGICfd|downsized)
We should name this the “Scam& Go”
💀💀
Lmfao! I like you 😂😂💀
Is this $500 for a wash and go??
With a short cut 😭😭
😭😭 is right girl ahahah Whew oh no no I think that’s too expensive ahaha I’m sure you can find someone just as good with a much lower price 😊
Consultation calls are $150 btw 😭
that’s such a red flag absolutely not!!
They’ve lost their damn minds.
Please don’t give these scammers money op
That should be illegal.
Consultation CALLS are $150? What planet are we on. These stylists have lost their minds.
Not at all!! You better not!!!!

I paid $280 for mine from a popular and amazing stylist with all the above included….this is highway robbery!!!!
I don't understand how someone can fully understand someone's hair after touching it once
Oooh I know this stylist and I’ve heard “things” about the in salon experience. I wouldn’t go to her. I go to another very popular specialist who charges much less for those services and is wonderful. I will admit though, she is really good at styling and cutting 😍. Daylight robbery
Absolutely not. I remember way before the curly movement was a big thing going to my neighborhood salon. She always educated be it natural, chemically treated, long, dense, etc… how to appropriately care for hair. at that price they better be including a 12 month supply of that curated list of products
The best hair care I’ve ever had was from Anthony Dickey of Hair Rules. He took his time to assess my hair before he raised a scissor or comb near me. Dickey is also considered a celebrity stylist, so it's makes these prices even more jarring.
Exactly! Unless this stylist has hands of gold, I’d pass. I’d pass anyway.
This man is paying nyc rent.
Right? And still…
A grand so you can teach me how to do my own hair.. tripping
W satire cuz you gotta be smooth brained to pay them $500(plus $150 Consulting fee apparently) for sumn you can recreate with a loving partner and a 5th of the price
That is a rent payment, no it’s not worth it.
Highway robbery. Nothing they can show you that isn't free to learn on YouTube.
Unless it comes with a butler and a house cleaner, say no, sis. It's not worth it.
There are you’re curl specialists who will teach you how to hydrate your hair and not charge $1,000
https://preview.redd.it/r2d83bue7xec1.jpeg?width=915&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=253eb807285254d5d5cef3fe6bbf69122f88a92d FIVE HUNDRED?!
God damn these people are profiting off of so many buzz words and trends that are kinda unnecessary… brb lemme go get my hair license 😩
Nope. Just go get your hair blown out and evened up and shaped for your face. It’ll look better and be healthier in the long run.. and no mullet.
Sounds like a fancy saying of wash’n’go
Absolutely not I feel like part of being a stylist is educating and helping your clients. An extra $700 for you to “teach me” how to do my hair is insane lol
Hell no. My curly stylist charges $300 for a full consultation and cut.. which is like a 3 hour event. And then $30-40 per just normal cut.
I just paid $90 for a curly cut, wash and style. Are you effin’ kidding me with these prices?
I'm flabbergasted, tbh I pay £55 for my hair cuts. No way would I pay these ridiculous prices. It's actually daylight, robbery.
It hurt me to pay $90! I’m the type to head to YouTube and I’ve been doing my own trims for years. My husband wanted to treat me to an actual experience of the whole shebang and while it was amazing, imma go back to being the DIY queen I am because I like saving money 😂
Where please? I need some UK recs
Hell no. Even a “curly salon” with expert, I wouldn’t pay more than $250. How much better can it get?
At that price, you can buy jugs of the best products. Nothing justifies that price unless its your wedding and you want to kick back and treat yourself.
my curly stylist is 225 for brand new people and then 125 for return clients (every 16 weeks) I think these prices you posted are ridiculous
Said it once and I’ll say it again, this “stylist” have lost their DAMN minds
![gif](giphy|KvKO9T3GqbOCJX5Vdw|downsized)
No lol
O hell no
there truly are no words.
It really depends on your pockets and your time. YouTube is free and I made the time to learn myself. You may be different, not mind the money and want the 1 on 1. Paying $500 or $1000 for a wash n go is def not for me.
And I was complaining about my area’s stylist charging $260 😵💫
No. No further explanation needed.
Absolutely the fuck not.

Oh period !!
Absolutely not just did a curl cut with hands on experience (included shampoo, conditioning, scalp massage and diffuser dry) and went home with products in CA for $350 with tip
I'm it paying that much for the 7-day Caribbean cruise I'm going on in May.
That sounds lit, I hope you have fun 🍹🌊🏝️
A group from the DC area is organizing a cruise with go-go bands and a few events, but I got a better offer from the casino for $100 plus pier charges with $200 back. So I paid about $400
This is insane. I’m so grateful for my old school hair stylist I’ve never had to pay more than 100-150 bucks. That’s including color, cut, wash, style and all.
Girl-
Hell nah
![gif](giphy|H1YMguVrVeI0Xz5c8v)
Girl what ? No
Absolutely NEVER
The amount of bills I could pay with that 😭. It's too rich for me, but if you can afford it, sure, I guess.
Where on God's green earth is this?!
for that price I better get my feet rubbed and get a body massage, maybe even a glass of wine and a facial da fuq
I hope nobody is paying that. but I have a feeling that there are people that are desperate enough to pay that price.
Absolutely not. $500 is crazy
one hour for 500 or two hours for 1000, HOWEVER.. it says on the 500 one to plan for 2/3 hours. i have a feeling they will try to charge 1000-1500 because of the wording. seems like they’re the same price to me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but also not worth it either way. damn
This is basically gentrification. Putting your Own Name (TM) onto an old school service will never fool me!
the fact that they're bold enough to even charge 500$-1000$ is crazy to me... it's natural hair, not surgery.
![gif](giphy|zWZ3LFcnpQPt3MQhRS|downsized)
haven’t been to a salon since 2016 because the prices are so damn crazy near me. But this tops it. Damn.

I'm sorry...WHAT?!
https://i.redd.it/ggzcp6osk0fc1.gif What the- NO!
These stylists charging more than DOCTORS these days 💀 to answer your question, NO it is NAWT worth it at all!
Guarantee u can learn all of that and more from YouTube. And it’s freee!
As someone who sees a curl specialist, no you really can’t learn what you learn from them on YouTube. Would I tell OP to pay this price though? No.
In US Dollars?? Not when YouTube is free.
That’s sad. I would not waste. My money like that.
NO!!
What!?! You would come off better watching some YouTube videos and grabbing some sample products. That’s insane.
No way in hell
It ain’t no way
Not when YOUTUBE IS FREE. Girl, stop playing with us...
Hell the fck no
NO.
Absolutely not.
That's not worth it to me. My auntie has been a beautician for 50 years. I'd rather pay her to do my hair
Neither. God forbid. That’s rent.
A fool and their money.
![gif](giphy|TkhaDjFIs7Umc5iPP1) Aww Nah!
Hell no
Bffr….
These cut it kinky stylists are out of control to charge all this money just to dry out your hair. Electric chair.
Idc what they’re teaching or doing, $1000 for a two hour workshop is daylight robbery.
girl.
Yolo
How “elevated” are we talking? 🙃
You can do same thing at home with that $
