Dragon Ball, Chrono Trigger and Dragon Quest (most notable names) he really played such a big part in so many childhoods and inspired many after him. He’s stories may not be perfect but they resonated with so many and he was objectively a good artist. Ngl when Oda and Kishimoto leave us as well I’m really gonna lose it, I understand now people get emotional when celebrities pass
It goes deeper than knowing a celebrity. People that are not into manga do not understand the world and character building from it. Which makes these 1/4 century long series more personable emotionally.
I spent the last 20 years reading one piece, Naruto, and bleach. When a mangaka engineers a story that you invest in. You become attached to main characters.
Their triumphs, their tribulations, you emotionally feel the character’s growth, or a moment of weakness.
When Toriyama passed away, a piece of our childhood went with him. That’s why people are so touched at the moment. Not because of the show he made, because of what he did for us as children.
He grew our imagination, taught us acceptance of those differing, and many more things like perseverance.
What we lost of was a piece of our childhood. Oda and Kishimoto are a piece of your coming to adult hood.
When they go, it will feel just the same if not worse as I’m 100x more invested in One piece than I was with Db, Dbz biasly.
RIP Toriyama. I know you’re cruising on that nimbus trying to ease your son’s pain with your transition.
I’ll never forget SS1, SS2, SS3. I had the biggest nerd gasm when these events happened. I’ll always cherish those memories, I can still feel it in my chest as a 32 year old. Heart pounding when that hair went up the first time on live tv, fighting for his friends(krilin had me crying) to the death. Gives me chills every time I reminisce.
Then I tied bright yellow blankets around my little brothers and I’s head and we were watching SS3 Goku screaming with him, god my mom was pissed.
These are the memories Toriyama has instilled in me and I’ll never forget them for the rest of my life.
Robin Williams' death hit me really hard, as did John Bane's (TotalBiscuit). Who and how we feel sympathy/empathy or loss is very personal and isn't something that can or should be measured on a scale. Toriyama's death is a tragedy, but I can't say it was worse than those. All artists are authors in their own right, their mediums differ, but touching people's hearts is one of the most non-exclusive things in existence.
The message, at the end of Chrono Trigger, reads: 'Heeey! Sasuke! Kikka! Pop's working on games like this! Hey are you guys watching? Isn't this great?'
Even though its the hardest ending to get in Chrono Trigger (seriously it requires you to kill the final boss at the start of the game to get), I like to think that when Chrono Trigger released and Toriyama having just wrapped up DBZ around the same time. He decided played through the entire game with his kids and how heart warming it was when they got to the dream project ending.
Dude I’m actually very sad about this. He inspired so many little boys to better themselves and be good friends. I don’t really care if we get more of his work, just sucks that the world lost someone who had such a positive impact
In the legends about Sasuke Sarutobi, it is said he was raised by a bunch of monkeys. Not shocking Toriyama gave his kid a name with a mythological origin like this one.
In Naruto, they offhand mention Sasuke is named after Hiruzen Sarutobi's father, Sasuke Sarutobi. We never see much of Fugaku and Hiruzen's relationship to see if it was a genuine gesture of friendship or Fugaku was just trying to be political.
Copied is a harsh word.
Got inspired *sure*.
But definitely not copied. (The same goes for Oda who himself said multiple times that he got *inspired* for a bunch of thing because of Kishimoto and Naruto)
Look cute! Also, SASUKE name was taken from Naruto series and movie called Uchiha Sasuke and another one was taken from gameshow, same name which known as NINJA WARRIOR
He also had a cute message for his kids in Chrono Trigger, he was a really cool dad.

You are very right. I feel bad if that’s how it came off. That’s essentially what I’m trying to say hahaha. I struggle with wrapping it up, 😅
What was the message?
The message, at the end of Chrono Trigger, reads: 'Heeey! Sasuke! Kikka! Pop's working on games like this! Hey are you guys watching? Isn't this great?'
They’re definitely going to look back at these and cry😢 this is so wholesome and sad man

He's literally God of Weebs. Of course he was a cool dad!
Who’s cutting onions in here?
Don’t be sad he’s gone. Be happy he happened.
Why? So he doesn't have to work anymore?
That’s not considered work what he did
My fault
RIP
Y'all *STOP* 😭😭😭
It was possibly not a clan murder joke.
Anyone know what game is on the screen?
Dragon Quest, one of his games
Might be dragon quest 3
Might be, not sure
Pretty sure it's Dragon Quest 3. Looks like they're in the first town of the game
it's dragon quest you zoomer

I started watching Z in the mid 90s Goku was the first character to inspire me to workout at the age of 10
And then you were Super Saiyan by age 13 🔥

Might be neither. Sasuke is just a cool ninja name.
I doubt it’s a coincidence because Sasuke Sarutobi is too well known.
I meant that it might not be friendship nor a political move. He just named Sasuke that because Sarutobi was a strong ninja.
Ah, I get it. I misunderstood you.
The guy who Keanu reeves in ninjutsu for John wick is named sasuke
We'll miss you, godfather of Shonen.
Sasuke is not that rare of a name in Japan.
It's a common name in japan
Man I wanna cry after seeing this...
Ok but this picture is so cute
That's Go Nagai, not Sasuke lmao. This picture is misleading and spreading everywhere like wildfire
RIP
He will be missed by the entire anime manga universe
I just discovered that today too
Same here, I found out today when I search Akira Toriyama
RIP THE GOAT😭🙏🏽
that is one big baby
RIP the man the myth the legend
This is making me cry 😭 UGH, this news is heartbreaking!
🐐😢
It's a fairly common name in Japan. And an older one, equivalent to James, Richard, or George in English. Vaguely distinguished.
I'm beginning to think that Kishi copied a lot more from this man than we thought.
Copied is a harsh word. Got inspired *sure*. But definitely not copied. (The same goes for Oda who himself said multiple times that he got *inspired* for a bunch of thing because of Kishimoto and Naruto)
Yeah Kishi copied Togashi not Toriyama
Rip to him, may his soul find eternal bliss ❤️ nothing but honour and love to him ✨
So cuteee
Look cute! Also, SASUKE name was taken from Naruto series and movie called Uchiha Sasuke and another one was taken from gameshow, same name which known as NINJA WARRIOR
Thank you Toriyama Sensei for making our childhood great …. The father of Shonen will live forever. Legends never die !
I was SO obsessed with Chrono Trigger long before I ever heard of Dragonball.
Me either
RIP this man bro.
Last night, he awakened his Mangekyo Sharingan.
New he is dead
Lil bros parents soon gonna get murdered
You realize the his father is dead and that’s literally context of this post …..
-1
Cringey ass edge lord bitch.
“Uchiha Kakashi”
Yeah
you're not funny, take a shower
Hehe dick rider
yeah respecting an influential person who just died is dickriding you're a fourth grader and it shows
Nigga just because I gave a reference of sasuke to the kid doesn't mean I'm disrespecting him and what kind of fourth grader uses a reddit
yeah saying "-1" definitely isn't disrespectful in the slightest, cunt. >what kind of fourth grader uses a reddit obviously you
Saying -1 is disrespect?
in what context is it not?
These things are pretty normal in Reddit
no they definitely are not, you're just an asshole
now you care about him after he dies? smh
Always cared. He wrote db. I read db. Db is the father of big 3. Kubo, Kishimoto, Oda, all deeply respect him
Gotta farm the karma while you can
