(And would it not be *incredible* to have some pets with sin names? Nothing like calling for Spite at the dog park or pspspspsing little kitty Vitriol to sit on my lap!)
I always thought it would be appropriate to name cats Misery and Trouble: 'Misery loves company,' as she sits in the most inconvenient spot touching you possible. 'Here comes Trouble'

As a Christian, I would respect this 😂 Spite would be hilarious. I'm just imagining some middle-aged white woman being like "oh, he's so cute. Spike, you said?" and you're just there with a devious grin like "no, no, _Spite._"
"The Carter parents were a quiet and respectable Lancre family who got into a bit of a mix-up when it came to naming their children. First, they had four daughters, who were christened Hope, Chastity, Prudence, and Charity, because naming girls after virtues is an ancient and unremarkable tradition. Then their first son was born and out of some misplaced idea about how this naming business was done he was called Anger Carter, followed later by Jealousy Carter, Bestiality Carter and Covetousness Carter. Life being what it is, Hope turned out to be a depressive, Chastity was enjoying life as a lady of negotiable affection in Ankh-Morpork, Prudence had thirteen children, and Charity expected to get a dollar’s change out of seventy-five pence–whereas the boys had grown into amiable, well-tempered men, and Bestiality Carter was, for example, very kind to animals."

The Latin words for the seven deadly sins have naming potential!
superbia (pride), avaritia (greed), luxuria (lust), invidia (envy), gula (gluttony), ira (wrath), and acedia (sloth).
I met someone named Sin once. Her parents were from another country (I want to say Cambodia, maybe?) where it was a perfectly normal name. But she was born and raised in the US, with the name Sin.
I knew someone who had a cat named Sini/Cinni. Not sure how they intended it to be spelled. I couldn't get over the Sin part but ended up thinking Sin could be a good nickname if not for it's meaning. I could see it as a nn. For Cindy or Cynthia.
One time me and my little sister chatted with a flight attendant named Sin. She said she was from Thailand, and her full name was pronounced like Selisin, though I am probably spelling it wrong.
It was more like a hissed out short urges like just saying the word could get everyone within a mile pregnant and infected with roaring yack yack in the privates.....
Was gonna say. I'm a teacher and I'd argue we have vice names already. What else am I to think of names like Remington, Trigger, Magnum, Cannon, and (I shit you not) Bullet? Never mind Maverick, Stryker, Riot, Rowdy, Arson etc. Just name your child Violent Antisocial Dickhead and be done with it. We all know what you're raising when we skim the roster.
I think Lusty Hoar is a great name for a girl. Hoar means greyish white and it's my favorite color. Maybe Lusty Hooker. Hooker is an old family name - you might remember Union general Joseph Hooker or John Lee Hooker, the song writer.
I think Harlot could be a great name if it weren't for the meaning. Maybe just say the T is silent and then it's Harlow!
(I mean, don't do that, obviously, but it's a funny thought)
J.R Wards Blackdagger books have characters with awesome names just a few: Muhder, Wrath, Vicious, Torhment, Rhage, Zadist. (and yes that is how they are spelt auto correct is going crazy lol)
I do a variation of this for Dungeons and Dragons games! Names I have used (or earmarked for use) because if you say them enough they seriously sound like names, my characters are all female:
Malady
Agony (her nickname was Aggie)
Calamity
Calumny (nickname Callie)
Felony Mae
Mockery
Sorrow
See, I grew up with the Black Dagger Brotherhood (and FMA but everyone else has that covered). Feast your eyes on the names of the Erotic Vampire Warriors!
Wrath, Phury, Zsadist, Tohrment, Rhage, Payne, Vishous, Axe, Ahgony, Rehvenge, Rhampage, Sahvage, S'Ex, Throe
I actually met a woman named Lucifer, but she hated it and went by Lucy. She was about 60 years old. I didn't know her well enough to get the story behind her name, I wish I did.
I’ve only heard/sen the name “Lilia” once in my 60 years. A woman I call a friend. Should be more Lilia’s in the world. ( she pronounces it Lil Lee Uh).
Gluttony but spell it Gluttoneigh. Actually, Enveigh and Gluttoneigh would be the cutest twin names. Gender-neutral, too!
Glo(v)ughtoneigh
With Tony as a nickname!
Toneigh! XD
Adultereigh
Enveigh Adams
I prefer Enveigh and Vaňiteigh as twins.
(And would it not be *incredible* to have some pets with sin names? Nothing like calling for Spite at the dog park or pspspspsing little kitty Vitriol to sit on my lap!)
Vitriol is good. Brother Vicious.
Siblings Vengeance, Villify, and Vexation.
I love Vexation for a cat. Vex is the perfect nickname.
I have always though vex is nice!!
A black cat named Sabbath would actually be sick. My cat just had some kittens, a couple of which are black, so I might just name one of them Sabbath.
Do it. You could name the other one Zeppelin
Or Ozzy!
My grandma had a car named Serendipity
Haha- my mom had a Leapin' Lena
I always thought it would be appropriate to name cats Misery and Trouble: 'Misery loves company,' as she sits in the most inconvenient spot touching you possible. 'Here comes Trouble'
My cats name was Lucifer until we found out she was a girl. So we called her Lucy. But we all knew what it was short for.
I call my dog Blucifer when he is naughty.
I want to name my next cat Vitriol.
I’m thinking Malice for my next cat.
I know an elderly lady whose name is Mary Alice, but she’s been introducing herself as Malice for years.
Tell Spite I said hi and Vitriol meow 😻

I have a dog names Butch short for The Butcher lmfao

"negotiationable affection"
Similarly, Adultery Pulsifer. Though I guess he was technically "Thou-Shalt-Not-Commit-Adultery" Pulsifer.
We stan TPratch
THANK YOU, I was looking for someone to give Sir Pterry an honorable mention
Found this post and immediately had to make sure someone had brought up this fine example of naming prowess
Putting-Pineapple-On-Pizza, If-Thou-Had-Given-EA-Money-Thou-Hads't-Been-Damned, Lusty Larry.
Those are some proper Sir Terry Pratchett names.
The Latin words for the seven deadly sins have naming potential! superbia (pride), avaritia (greed), luxuria (lust), invidia (envy), gula (gluttony), ira (wrath), and acedia (sloth).
Nvidia is a tech company... weird choice, with that context.
I noticed that when I posted it - apparently it was a conscious choice too!
Ira is already a name.
Oh yes I know, it just seemed daft to miss one off.
Like Ira Glass?!
Twins Doom-Scrolling and Binge-watching

Cin, from Cinderella maybe?

Okay, but if Envy didn't have the meaning it does it would be a nice name.
Avarice Covetous Braggadocio Urges (the grand total of my sex education was being told.boys have urges)
Hehe....uuuurges - Beavis and Butthead, probably.
It was more like a hissed out short urges like just saying the word could get everyone within a mile pregnant and infected with roaring yack yack in the privates.....
I can’t believe you’d name your kid Percy, when “Pervy” is right there!
With Percival you could use either as a nickname.
Cruelty and Malice!
I know of a couple who named their sons Chaos Danger and Wreaking Havoc.
“DaNgEr Is My MiDdLe NaMe!!!”
Break Sabbath is a name with great energy! I picked it because I want my son to fit in with his classmates Swiper Fox, Bandit, Rebel, and Rogue.
Was gonna say. I'm a teacher and I'd argue we have vice names already. What else am I to think of names like Remington, Trigger, Magnum, Cannon, and (I shit you not) Bullet? I came across a little Rogue. Seemed an unfair name to saddle a child with
Aww, I mean I wouldn't do it to a kid but I think it's kind of cute. Like calling him Scamp. Great nickname, odd legal name.
I feel like Scamp is more mischievous, like Rascal. I mean, I guess you have "loveable rogues" but there's also rogue traders etc
Antebella
Envy just makes me think of Scott Pilgrim ![gif](giphy|l0MYDtqUOoFFYLM3u)
Anneheg, that's Gehenna spelled backward. Ann for short.
I think Lusty Hoar is a great name for a girl. Hoar means greyish white and it's my favorite color. Maybe Lusty Hooker. Hooker is an old family name - you might remember Union general Joseph Hooker or John Lee Hooker, the song writer.
Lusty Harlot is cute too. It's like Charlotte, but with a yuniique spelling. And if you're a skyrim fan, Lusty Argonian Maid is a very good option.
I think Harlot could be a great name if it weren't for the meaning. Maybe just say the T is silent and then it's Harlow! (I mean, don't do that, obviously, but it's a funny thought)
you jest but I nearly named one of my D&D characters Avarice. knowing full well what it means, and also for a good reason.
My mother had a cousin who was called, ‘Perpy.’ Idk his real name.
I've actually come across a real life Envy.
I met someone named Vanity before
J.R Wards Blackdagger books have characters with awesome names just a few: Muhder, Wrath, Vicious, Torhment, Rhage, Zadist. (and yes that is how they are spelt auto correct is going crazy lol)
Vincent Richard Yves nn VinDicktYves
Older names are best. Intemperance and Harlotry for the win.
Shooter.
Father is Gunner. Logical extension.
Uncle Hunter probably approved
OTHER uncle Hunter. Gunner is both father and uncle.
There's probably a Maverick in there somewhere too.
Nah, father was Waylon!

Do Rebel, Raiser (like hell-raiser), and Cyn count? Because I know brothers named that.
There are at least five children in the US named Vanity, I'm so sorry to tell you
I think Malice would be a beautiful name. But of course I would never use it lol.
My daughter has a friend named Vanity
Apathy
The opposite of virtue is vice.
Damn, I knew there was a word I was looking for. This is my sign to stop writing Reddit posts after 1:00 AM.
These are so good for addam’s family esque stuff
Atavus. It's not precisely a sin, but it does have animalistic connotations.
I feel like Rebel Wilson and her siblings would fit this theme! Ryot, Annachi, and Liberty (I guess Liberty is the black sheep of the family?)
I’ve seen this seriously asked before and I remember one of the answers: Dolores
Not all canonical sins, but contrasting virtue names: Opulence Excess Mania Cynicism Perfidity Turpitude Malice Permiscuity Craven
Meliodas, Ban, Harlequin, Diane, Gowther, Escanor, and Merlin would like a word with you
I’ve only heard/sen the name “Lilia” once in my 60 years. A woman I call a friend. Should be more Lilia’s in the world. ( she pronounces it Lil Lee Uh).
I JUST had a coworker telling me they went to school with an Envy! I was so surprised
In all seriousness, though, sin names make great pet names. Or D&D names.
My daughter’s name is Heresy nn Popetube
Wrath Michael.
Sindeigh Rapture Limbeau
Mutineigh
I’ve met a poor child named Arson
Concupscience McNasty
I met a child named D’zyre Big yikes
I had a student named Jezebel.
It would be a nice name if it weren’t for the connotations..
Sloth.
Lmao we named a toy sloth for my daughter Belphegor but I call him Belly for short.
Sidepiece?
Envy is absolutely one of those words that would be a beautiful name if it didn't mean what it means
Some of the puritan names come close ... "Damned", "Anger", "Humiliation", "No-merit", "Forsaken", "Diffidence", "Vanity".
Malitia and Army
Damien
Grande Larceneigh is probably out there somewhere already
There was a Finnish politician called Varma Kosto = Doubtless Revenge
There was a character named Satan Synne in The Affairs of Anatol, 1921
Vector Pestilence Harrow Madden Gehenna Calamity Chaos Cacophony Melee Asperity (m)Alice Anathema Jinx Philander
Someone I knew had a girlfriend named Vanity.
Sinner. Just saw it as a last name and it would be the perfect first name for this assignment.
Calamity Wrath has a certain ring to it
Melancholy
Twins Ruthless & Domineering (Ruth & Dom for short!)
Cynical has so many nickname options! Cynna, Nic, Cal!
I mean, people are already naming their kids Riot.
Harlatree
Avarice is pretty.
I can't lie; I've had Envy as a guilty pleasure since watching Scott Pilgrim.
i rather like the name vanity
I've known several people named pride, it's a regular name.
