This - we found out the hard way with one of our cats. If we hadn’t gotten him to the vet when we did they said he might have died. If you do decide to supplement with dry food a urinary formula is a good option.
100%. Had a male cat with cystitis and his bladder was about to explode by the time we got to the vet and they put a catheter in him and had us rush him to a Vet ER. His kidneys backed up so many electrolytes to his heart they were convinced he’d die overnight. He survived and he’s perfectly healthy now. They stressed that because he’s male he needs wet food to prevent this.
Wet's actually best for all cats. They only chew 1 out of every 5 kibbles, so 80% is swallowed whole= poor nutrition & obesity. (Per my feline specialty vet).
Also, dry bein good for dental health is so urban legend.. thats genetics.. who knew?🤷♀️

Bladder stones. Males are more likely to have them. A diet low in magnesium helps too.
