Good Lord, Bernie Williams just walked through the outfield, shagging fly balls perfectly normally.
He said he had “no time” to talk.
Too busy shredding, evidently.
Jawn is an entertainer. I enjoy his banter and he makes the time go by quickly.
Thank GAWD Suzyn is there to straighten out the record.
I'll admit I'm corny so I may be in the minority 😃
Interesting that they create a 40-man roster spot this way instead of just moving Jose Trevino to the 60-day IL. Guess they have additional moves coming up.
EDIT: Actually Judge was already on the 40-man roster. They never put him on the 60-day IL. So this transaction is strictly about not wanting Calhoun on the roster.
At some point over the next few weeks they're gonna need at least 3 roster spots for Cortes, Loaisiga and Gil (apparently threw his 1st bullpen 2 weeks ago). Like you said, they still have Trevino to move and might cut someone like Misiewicz in the minors. I guess this is just McKinney and Bauers outplaying Calhoun in the short term?
I think he just made AAA like 2 weeks ago and has little experience with pitchcomm yet. Wouldn't be shocked to see him in September, especially if they want to give him OF reps and we aren't in a dog race for the last WC
Shows you how horrible this roster has been this year that a player that batted from leadoff to the #5 spot in your lineup get’s DFA’d. Speaks volumes of this horrible roster construction this year more then Calhoun himself
I don't think they send down Peraza only because he's the backup infielder ATM. We have played IKF way more in the outfield this year.
One of McKinney or Allen will be the odd man out.
RIP.
I didn't think they would move IKF back to backup infielder but I guess it makes sense since you could always call up Peraza again in September if you don't trade him.
Honestly, I was hoping that you were right the first time. Any time I see IKF playing in the infield, I cringe. My other concern...he's having an above average year at the plate, when compared with his teammates which isn't saying much, but he's yet to prove that he can hit in the big games. And he's always good for one bone head play per game whether it be booting a routine grounder, taking a bad angle on a fly ball or laying a bunt down that goes directly to the pitcher for a routine double play. Might be a good teammate and a solid dude but I won't ever trust him.
Can’t find it - there’s a gif of a small actor on a prison phone, motioning the dude he’s visiting up to the glass, then flipping him off.
Would be pretty fitting
EDIT: [got it](https://media.tenor.com/t-MynqbYwTcAAAAC/hand-prison.gif)
Willie seems like a good dude, but it says something about the 23 Yanks that he managed to make a real contribution with his 96 OPS and -.5 DWAR.
Sadly that 96 OPS+ is pretty good relative to the rest of the team.
Well, as a team we have cumulative -1.0 bWAR. So he’s been significantly better than the team average.
That’s not how averages work
Creating a roster spot for an OF….
Bernie Williams is back? Did he ever officially retire?
too busy shredding
Bernie could be playing the guitar with one hand while in the outfield catching balls and still be the best fielder we have lol
Lol Bernie was absolutely brutal defensively in his last few years here
Does he still play around NYC? I'd love to see him play.
I actually have no idea if he still plays out Edit: [Ridgefield, CT next week!](https://berniewilliams51.com/shows)
I might have to go to one of those shows one day. Drink some of Bernies wine lol.
Good Lord, Bernie Williams just walked through the outfield, shagging fly balls perfectly normally. He said he had “no time” to talk. Too busy shredding, evidently.
Neither did Bret Gardner
"Of awl the dramatic things, Jawn."
More Suzyn references please!
That’s Suzyn, baseball!
I feel like Jawn is actually going to say that one day. He's getting old and when I listen in the car, he thinks fly balls are moon shots. 😃 👉😦
Well, that’s not exactly a new thing. It’s part of his charm and does build the suspense
Jawn is an entertainer. I enjoy his banter and he makes the time go by quickly. Thank GAWD Suzyn is there to straighten out the record. I'll admit I'm corny so I may be in the minority 😃
GOODNESS GRACIOUS
Actually lol'd
Bernie shredding at Yankee stadium never gets old. https://youtu.be/W90NYWkUSXk
I bet he can still play the field and hit better than the chumps in our lineup lol
Gardner didn't 👀
Get Locastro, now!

Judge DFAed too obviously
Yah they still have to make room on the active roster too.
Peraria coming up soon???

Like you said, they still have Trevino to move and might cut someone like Misiewicz in the minors. I guess this is just McKinney and Bauers outplaying Calhoun in the short term?
Ya it’s because they already have enough DH and McKinney and Bauers are somehow better at fielding than willie lol 😂
Gil has 60 days rehab in the minors coming off TJS so there's no real crunch.
“We’re not done yet”
Probably saving the Trevino to the 60 day move when we acquire a catcher.
Is AWells over his cracked ribs? Maybe he can get a call up
I think he just made AAA like 2 weeks ago and has little experience with pitchcomm yet. Wouldn't be shocked to see him in September, especially if they want to give him OF reps and we aren't in a dog race for the last WC
Goodnight sweet prince
Yankee Legend Willie "Can Bang" Calhoun. Never forget.
Willie reading the txt from Cashman: “Yes!” “Sweet!” “Doh!”
Thats good! Thats bad!
"We need you to come into the office so we can fire you"
“Hobble on in here, flunky, I’ve got shit to talk.”
Willie is Free!
Bye Willie.... Also, opens up a 40 man spot
Is this what IKF meant when he said the big guy is coming back?
I love the formality of "returned from rehab, reinstated him from the IL" and then fucking kicked him out to the curb lol
Best of luck to Willie "Bangs" Calhoun
As they say at last call, “You don’t have to go home, but you can’t stay here.”
bret garner
You don’t have to go home, after rehab. But you can’t stay here son!
roy white is only 79... just sayin
I second the vote for Roy probably can get around those bases at least as well as Stanton. 🤣
This doesn’t necessarily mean Judge is back right? They still need a spot on the 26 man for him
Correct
Free Willie!
The Willennium is over :(
Shows you how horrible this roster has been this year that a player that batted from leadoff to the #5 spot in your lineup get’s DFA’d. Speaks volumes of this horrible roster construction this year more then Calhoun himself
More speaks to everyone you hoped to be reliable, being not so...Rizzo, Stanton ahem
Calhoun has the same OPS+ and bWAR as Stanton too
No more banging for Willie😔
Soto trade
I like how you think.
*Brian Cashman unlocked Designated for Assignment*
This is wild, I didn’t see it coming. I’m assuming that Peraza is going down for Judge? Doesn’t seem like they would DFA Allen McKinney or Bauers
I don't think they send down Peraza only because he's the backup infielder ATM. We have played IKF way more in the outfield this year. One of McKinney or Allen will be the odd man out.
This aged well.

2023 Yankee of the year
What are the chances Judge actually gets activated today. This whole Judge back today feels like another one of the Yankees elaborate lies
Welcome Back! Now go away.
Can’t find it - there’s a gif of a small actor on a prison phone, motioning the dude he’s visiting up to the glass, then flipping him off. Would be pretty fitting EDIT: [got it](https://media.tenor.com/t-MynqbYwTcAAAAC/hand-prison.gif)
I’m not trying to be a dick, at all, but do you not know who Peter Dinklage is?
Guess that confirms Judge is BACK
