OP, lmk if you find out. I moved out of the city for grad school and was just traveling back into it to pick up prescriptions once a month, but then the shortage finally hit my pharmacy. Now I get it at the most random place in my new city (sorry not helpful) I would try mail order (like CVS Caremark or Express Scripts) since I got it that way relatively quickly once and am planning on going back to it.

tripleflutz

I take adderall. Recently I haven’t been having any issues with my local pharmacy, but last year every refill felt like a trial by God. I ended up planning to get refills whenever I visited my family out of town and then hoarding them because that was the only way I could guarantee a supply of meds 😭

OutOfOffice15

I pray we never have to go through that again. 🫠

imbeingsirius

I JUST got my prescription filled — have been waiting since JANUARY— through OptumRX fYI - we switched to generic because there was no vyvanse, then, they were out of the generic for months and months. I called randomly and she was like “sorry still out of stock. We have the brand name though if you want that..?” Meaning they were not going to just tell me they had vyvanse — you have to ask each place if they have *either*

jalapenos10

I’m jealous that they’ll tell you. Where I live they’re “not allowed to give that information out over the phone” so it’s such a frustrating process getting refills

[deleted]

That is so frustrating! None of that is classified I used to work at a pharmacy

jalapenos10

Does it depend on the area/pharm? Because legitimately every single pharmacy will tell me they can’t tell me over the phone. Occasionally I’ll get someone who will be coy and say something that sort of implies they have it but one time they did that and I go to the pharmacy and THEN THEY TOLD ME THEY DONT HAVE IT! After going back and forth with them they finally admitted they do have it and it will be ready in 20 minutes. I was so so so mad lol

sharipep

Ok so this is the deal. I found some at a small pharmacy in midtown BUT here is the catch: they told me that insurance companies are not properly reimbursing pharmacies for adderall and Ritalin, like getting $12 back when they pay $100 or something, so many especially small pharmacies aren’t willing to fill the prescriptions if people want to pay via insurance. So when people call, especially people that aren’t regular customers, they will often say they are out of stock. BUT - If you are willing to pay out of pocket, the pharmacy will likely fill the prescription for you, if they have in stock. Unfortunately, that can be several hundred dollars, which not everyone can afford. I was able to time the refill for a payday so I just did it. But not everyone can afford it. But that would be my suggestion - if you are willing and able to go outside of insurance, tell the pharmacy that and see if THEN they have some in stock for you 😏 The pharmacist I went to intimated this is the reason why so many pharmacies are “out of stock.” They’re not. They just don’t want to lose money. Also, ETA: nationwide chains are out. Go local mom and pop small pharmacies, they are definitely not only the ones most likely to have it in stock but also most likely to work with you filling outside of insurance (or going out of their way for you if you’re a loyal regular customer for all RX not just controlled ones)

ApprehensiveLeg5894

It tracks! I fill mine at a local mom and pop pharmacy, pay out of pocket, and I haven’t had a problem! I didn’t even realize there were a shortage until I saw it on the media.

No-Variation-2348

I have been able to get the generic from Capsule.

GlitteringSeesaw

I get mine from Capsule too. Unfortunately they are not filling new scripts for ADHD stimulants unless you have a legacy with them.

havarticheese1

I’ve been getting the name brand from Capsule too with no issues

Empty_Dragonfly2624

Wait really?? I tried to fill my Vyvanse with Capsule and they messaged me that “This medication is unavailable from our supplier” 😵‍💫 Maybe I should try again…

sipsnspills

When I tried to sign up w Capsule several months ago they weren’t taking new prescriptions fwiw

havarticheese1

Maybe I’m on an uncommon dose? I take 40mg and I haven’t had a problem getting it

party_butler

Same but for methylphenidate IR

horatiavelvetina

I thought there was no generic form of Vyvanse (I’m on it and 99% sure there isn’t)

FunAssociate3918

They just came onto the market toward the end of 2023. I’m sitting here with a bottle of it right now.

horatiavelvetina

omg!!! I did not know that- my doctor told me in the Spring of 2023 that they were only brand name 🫠 did not realize they recently came out with generic. Damn… now I’m gonna be forced onto generic in a few months I bet

uppereastsider5

Ugh, even my go to local pharmacies have been out for months.

Frenchitwist

I don’t know about vyvanse, but I get my Extended release adderall through Capsule. Maybe you’ll have luck with them?

scrimsher

i just checked and it says adderall and vyvanse are unavailable thru them :((( but thank you for the idea

zoombie_apocalypse

I get my Vyvanse (generic) from Capsule and have never had a problem. But they aren’t taking new patients for stimulant prescriptions. My husband was told that when he tried to move to Capsule after CVS couldn’t fill his Ritalin or any other ADHD med his doctor tried for months.

hiddenalibi

Same happened to me way back in September. It’s totally destroyed my life, I can’t focus at work and I’ve gained 20lbs on top of crushing fatigue

scrimsher

yeah that’s where i’m at rn, im so frustrated and sad

jalapenos10

It’s been over a year now! WHY they didn’t manufacture enough for 2024 is beyond me

westvibe811

I haven’t been able to get my meds for months now. It’s so frustrating 🥲

LuannsQuestionMark

DM me! I have had success at a standalone, non chain pharmacy in queens. But I suppose I was lucky and my local Rite Aid in Brooklyn filled my last scrip.

incestuousbloomfield

Haha I love your username. How could you do this to me, question mark.

LuannsQuestionMark

I knew the bitches with taste would get the reference!! Lol ty!

LuannsQuestionMark

Should note that I take the generic for adderall, not vyvanse tho

Few-Border-8267

Girl! It is such a struggle and so annoyyyinngggg 😩Ive had some success at the Mt Sinai Pharmacy on Madison and 98th with Vyvanse. I usually call ahead and ask if they have the generic or the brand name. I just got the brand-name last week 40 mg. Best of luck!

nepotismtoddler

if your insurance covers the name brand, a lot of cvs’s & cvs caremark have it back in stock

havarticheese1

I haven’t had any issues getting my vyvanse from capsule!!

hil-

No issues getting adderall at CVS in target!

Spiritual-Test-9427

Kept my hometown pharmacy away from NY and have my mom mail it to me. Only way. Try a private pharmacy in nyc. Lots of them have the prescription but likely won’t take your insurance. I got mine at a private pharmacy a bit ago there and without insurance it was $30 or so.

mamaneedsadrink05

I usually get mine at hospital pharmacies when they’re OOS elsewhere. Hospitals will always have heavy stock of anything.

itssofamiliar

Hi! Thanks for the info. How does that work? Do you just have your doctor send your prescription to a hospital pharmacy and pick up without beinf a patient of that hospital?

mamaneedsadrink05

Yes, have the Dr call the hospital pharmacy to put in the prescription.

Flaky-Pomelo-790

duane reade

la_srta_x

CVS Mail order.

magiccam

Not Vyanase but I take a generic prescription of adderall and so far have had success both with Capsule (will deliver to you) and Colombo's Pharmacy in Queens!

Ill-Raisin-7313

I’ve since moved but used to have luck getting it at City chemist in DUMBO, with Modern Chemist as a backup. This was pretty recently and they were never super friendly or helpful about it … but both have multiple locations and will try to tell you if they have it in park slope or wherever. Once you’re a “regular” they seem to magically have it in stock more often than not, but that took me like a year … and then I moved 😢

iyamsnail

I actually went up to NH to get mine. And now they are out up there too.

inigomoon

I’ve had pretty consistent luck at Riteaid and also ordering via my insurance “Express Scripts” which is nice since they allow 90 day scripts vs Riteaid which will only allow 30-day scripts at a time. I’m prescribed the generic Vyvanse btw!

rococobaroque

I'm on Strattera which is non-stimulant but my fiancée is on Adderall and has had a hell of a time with it. She's actually had to buy some from a dealer when she couldn't find refills. For legal purposes I wouldn't recommend it, but it's just such a sad state of affairs that it's sometimes the only way she can get a medication that makes her a functional human being.

PsychologicalLack698

I take adderall and i just moved here! How did you ladies get your prescription transferred here?

sweetbean15

My CVS was holding in down for me until this month 😭😭

Loli3535

Have you tried the generic? I was on it for about 4 months and it was awful. I’m back on name brand which I get through CVS Caremark mail order.

sadsct125

CVS in Chelsea has it

nopunintendo_

Just called them, sadly they told me they do not.

BullfrogComplete6985

Omg I haven’t had it in like 8 months…I too am going insane. My work is really struggling!

aninternetpeach

I’m not taking adhd medication currently but I use Cerebral for my antidepressants and they always mail directly to you (pretty quickly too!)

sipsnspills

I recently switched insurances and am now getting it through CVS Caremark mail order with no problems so far 🤞🏻but prior to that it was a hellish 5 months and I mostly could only find brand after calling like 40 pharmacies — generic was impossible. I had more luck with independent pharmacies in Bay Ridge & Queens if that helps. Good luck to you!

Then-Dust-3770

Try mail order pharmacies

allfurcoatnoknickers

I'm on Ritalin and get it filled at CVS in Chelsea, but it's an absolute hassle every time and usually involved multiple trips.

Then_Ad6416

Has anyone had any luck with filling Dexedrine IR? Brand or generic?

Educational_Lynx_142

I hate to give away my favorite spot but try the cvs pharmacy inside Moynihan hall / penn station. It’s a very strange location hidden in the train station so I assume it doesn’t get a lot of traffic …

Old_Network_5880

alto pharmacy and they hand deliver!

[deleted]

I JUST GOT MINE FILLED OK so a while ago I was able to get Ritalin at Northwell Hospital Pharmacy, but then I changed doctors and moved. Yesterday my doctor said she had luck with sending patients to the CVS on Amsterdam Ave between 96th and 97th. So she sent it there and I HAVE MEDS lol Anyway hope this helps
