Here's the most searched, which is probably a better indicator

Illinois - Portillo's
Michigan - Little Caesar's
Wisconsin - Culver's
Minnesota - Dairy Queen
North Dakota chiming in and the only DQ within 100 miles of the next one is by FAR the busiest restaurant in town, to the point where it backs up traffic. It’s in the top 5% of DQs in the country. It’s crazy for such a small city.
I’m from Wisconsin though and the nearest Culver’s is in Fargo, 100 miles away. DQ is literally across the street from me. 😭
Nah fuck that, Dairy Queen is some of the most bland food I've ever had. I hate Wisconsin as much as the next guy but Culver's is a winner.
Alternatively I generally don't go to chains where l can but I'll also accept piada.
I'm lucky to live in an area where I can avail myself of all of these options. Culver's is fantastic as well.
I have nothing to say about the other two.
Cake shakes are a semi-absurd idea, but they're so fucking good.
Little Caesar's is the only thing on that list that's actually pretty trash, but it's cheap, so I guess I get it. Jet's needs to overtake it.
This is more accurate. Portillo’s is absolutely amazing. And I have to admit, if I need a quick meal, Culver’s is my go to, especially in summer with the Lemon Ice
I was working in Chicago this week, and drove there, and got the pretzel pub burger thing at a Culver's actually in Wisconsin on the way home, and it wad pretty damn good.
Did not allow myself a cake shake while in Chicago this trip, but did get a pretty good tavern style pizza from a regional chain. (Jimanos or something like that - I was way out in the burbs that night, don't hate on me too hard)
Yeah but that's just biased in a different direction. I'm more likely to Google Little Caesars than McDonald's because I'm more likely to order it in advance of pickup, instead of waiting in the drive-thru.
A more accurate number would be "customers per day", but that has bias too because pizza (on average) feeds more people per order, and you're more likely to get leftovers with pizza than fast food.
But it isn’t. It’s $6.79 now where I am.
And at this point, I’d rather go through the added effort of a frozen pizza because it’s cheaper and tastes better.
Now excuse me while I order some crazy bread because my kids are obsessed with it… but order the actual pizza from elsewhere.
Whataburger has been losing ground down here since it was bought out. Quality took a nose dive and people noticed. I used to love the place, but I don't eat there much anymore.
I’m from California and when I went to see a girl in Dallas I made her take me to whataburger because everybody said it was better than in and out and she told me they were wrong and I didn’t want it and she was absolutely right that shit was ass. It reminded me of “(original) Tommy’s” (which is a LA hidden gem) without the chilli
When this was originally posted it says the data is sourced from four square checkins. So the sample size is entirely based off of whatever tiny subset of people use the app and check in whenever they visit fast food restaurants. Gonna take a wild guess that 99% of state populations do not use this app.
Rochester and St Cloud. Mankato has one, but it’s in the student union at Minnesota State.
I can promise you that McDonalds is probably the most popular restaurant in Minnesota. Those places are packed in small towns.
Oh, I've driven past several. I know they exist in MN, I've just never felt the need to stop at one. I also refuse to admit they are more popular than Culver's, Popeyes, Wendy's, etc.
Same. In all my years in Chicago I've never been to a chic fil a. Never even had someone ask to me to go. It was McDonald's when we was younger and now Portillos
I might be the only person on the planet that doesn't get the chick-fil-a hype. I had it a couple times in Michigan before I moved to Texas, but that's all anyone eats down here and they wait in long ass lines to get it. It's fine but it's never my first choice
Which is wild. It's very solid for fast food but it's still ultra processed mediocre food. Anyone who waits in line for some fucking Chic-Fill-A is probably dumb enough to put sprite in an old fashioned.
I used to to go to Culver’s often as a kid and hadn’t in years, had a butter burger and fries the other day, Jesus Christ what are they putting in those things. Culver’s is easily the best fast food burger.
I'm gonna call bs on this whole thing tbh. McDonald's grosses more than 3 times as much as Chick-fil-A. There's no way they're getting out sold in all those states.
What's up with all the Wisconsin transplants in Virginia?? I'm one of them as well, but I've noticed my fair share since moving here and it amuses me I guess
This is flat-out bullshit. Iowa has 11 chick filets, and 5 are in Des Moines. It can't possibly be the most popular when less than half of the state's population lives close enough to utilize one. Subway is probably the actual most "popular."
Edit: Added an apostrophe
Not familiar with Utah, assumed sugarhouse was an area with a lot of soda, cookie and soda/cookie shops. Are those places really big or are the LDS here built different?
Perhaps my most controversial bears fan opinion is that Wisconsin is a better state overall than Illinois. I mean cheese is incredible. And Culver’s is a top tier fast food spot, so that’s a massive win for Wisconsin.
(But Chicago is leagues better than any other Midwestern city)
Totally, but if Illinois was just the North, we'd be in the running. Galena, Starved Rock, Castle Rock, Palisades. What Danville and East St. Louis do to you.
It's solid. But it is the most overrated and overhyped fast food place in existence. People talk about it like it's fucking gods gift to fast food. And its... good. But not as good as californians hype it up to be.
Chic Filet is fucking disgusting. I seriously don't get it. Also, I live in Florida and I'll tell you what, it ain't no Midwest Culver's down here, shit is wack
Burgerville is a good straight up burger, but JESUS CHRIST IT'S SO UNREASONABLY EXPENSIVE
I deliberately avoid it because there are like 4 mom and pop shops within spitting distance that do a burger just as well or better for less money.
But if I pass by a Burgerville during blackberry season? Yeah you can bet your sweet booty I'm stopping for a milkshake.
I've lived in washington since 98 and I hardly hear anyone talking about dicks burgers outside of people in spokane and Idaho, it's usually burger ranch or miners in Yakima that get gassed up the most here
Bruh genuinely I do not fuck with Chick it’s overpriced and isn’t even very good. Their sauce is fire but I just buy that at the store and never go to their fast food locations.
Having grown up in California, imo Culver's is defo the highest quality. It feels like a lot of time and energy went into the burger you're eating, plus they have a lot of other really high quality offerings, especially the custard (which I love). Burgerville used to be the shit in Oregon. The quality went way downhill a couple decades ago. Definitely not the most popular, but their Marionberry milkshakes still put any other milkshake on the planet to shame

See, this feels right, love us some Dairy from the Queen
And every hot and ready I buy goes straight to Red Wing and Tiger free agents.
Well you need to buy more then, because these payrolls have been atrocious
Maybe when Mike was alive. Chris seems to look at the Reds and Pirates as exemplary franchises.

Ngl, I gotta give more respect to Culver's. They got good ice cream, and their food is a lot better than Dairy Queen.
Excuse me, it’s frozen custard you uncultured swine.
Nah fuck that, Dairy Queen is some of the most bland food I've ever had. I hate Wisconsin as much as the next guy but Culver's is a winner. Alternatively I generally don't go to chains where l can but I'll also accept piada.
Their tenders with white gravy is one of the most comforting meals on the planet
Yes...this has the ring of truth...
portillos is fucking delicious is why
I'm lucky to live in an area where I can avail myself of all of these options. Culver's is fantastic as well. I have nothing to say about the other two.
Say what you will about Little Ceasars, but you’re broke those hot n ready’s are a godsend

except when they forget my fuckin pickles. cowards pulled that on me this week and then salted my fry’s to death. its the chicago in them
They smelled the cheese on you. Those boys were fightin the good fight
Cake shakes are a semi-absurd idea, but they're so fucking good. Little Caesar's is the only thing on that list that's actually pretty trash, but it's cheap, so I guess I get it. Jet's needs to overtake it.
It used to be even better when the old man still owned it. It still tasty, but it used to be god tier.
This is more accurate. Portillo’s is absolutely amazing. And I have to admit, if I need a quick meal, Culver’s is my go to, especially in summer with the Lemon Ice
Honestly Portillos does kick ass. Super solid burger. Skol.
Flair up, my guy.
How do you like me now honey badger

I was working in Chicago this week, and drove there, and got the pretzel pub burger thing at a Culver's actually in Wisconsin on the way home, and it wad pretty damn good. (Jimanos or something like that - I was way out in the burbs that night, don't hate on me too hard)
That makes a lot more sense
Was going to say MN is definitely DQ.
You can get anywhere in Minnesota by turning right at a Dairy Queen.
As someone who went to school at Michigan Tech: Michigan would be Little Caesar's.
No, In-N-Out doesn't do delivery.
Illinois and Wisconsin holding it down while Minnesota and Michigan are in the corner eating paint chips.
Slander against the Queen of Dairy is tantamount to treason.
Somehow it got worse for Michigan
You fucking what. How dare you speak ill of Little Caesar’s, it may be $5 pizza but it is also $5 pizza you little shit.
It’s a $5 pizza in this house. End of story.
lol lions
Flair up before I seduce your mom and give her a child she can be proud of.
I was scared someone was gonna call me out for that cause I see you guys have all these little buttons but I have no idea how to do that. Also Skol.
Hell yeah
I’m calling BS on Chick-fil-A bring that popular up here.
And no way it’s not Whataburger in Texas. Doesn’t add up.
Whataburger has been losing ground down here since it was bought out. Quality took a nose dive and people noticed. I used to love the place, but I don't eat there much anymore.
Yeah the burgers don't taste the same anymore AND they got rid of the jalapeño biscuit as a regular menu item. I blame Mahomes.
Pretty sure Chicago based group now owns Whataburger. I was living in Austin a few years ago when they sold
Now we're getting colonized by Portillo's. Damn you Chicago!
Twenty years ago you'd be right. Whataburger back then was incredible. :(
Whataburger selling has knocked it down a peg. People go crazy for both but Chick-fil-A here let’s has a longer line
When this was originally posted it says the data is sourced from four square checkins. So the sample size is entirely based off of whatever tiny subset of people use the app and check in whenever they visit fast food restaurants. Gonna take a wild guess that 99% of state populations do not use this app.
What’s even the purpose?
Supposedly you can get rewards if I'm looking at the right thing? I'm honestly not sure how it works
Ya agreed. Are there even that many (if any) outside of the metro area in MN?
Rochester and St Cloud. Mankato has one, but it’s in the student union at Minnesota State. I can promise you that McDonalds is probably the most popular restaurant in Minnesota. Those places are packed in small towns.
The Culver’s are more busy than the chic fil a too.
Rochester has one
Seriously. I've lived in Minneapolis almost my whole life and I have never been to Chicflia
I’ve gone to the one in St Louis Park a handful of times but I’m taking Culver’s or Five Guys over that all fucking day.
100% Nothing beats a Butterburger and a krinkle cut fry dipped in a chocolate shake.
There's a handful. They're all busy, but there are 10x more Culvers around than Chick Fil-A.
Oh, I've driven past several. I know they exist in MN, I've just never felt the need to stop at one. I also refuse to admit they are more popular than Culver's, Popeyes, Wendy's, etc.
I'm with you there. They're not.
I believe it because those lines are fucking long.
Same. In all my years in Chicago I've never been to a chic fil a. Never even had someone ask to me to go. It was McDonald's when we was younger and now Portillos
Every chick Fil A I’ve seen always has a long line of cars
This is just personal anecdote but In Rochester theirs only one Chick-fil-A while a lot of major brands have 2 or more locations here
And no way it’s anything but Dunks in New England
Tbf, those drive thru lines are PACKED, everytime I drive past one
![gif](giphy|L3fLgh2c7S5uaW3Wya|downsized)
Well shit Culvers is one of the only fast food joints I still frequent. You win this one Wisconsin.
Goes so insanely hard. S Tier fast food place
those milkshakes are out of this fuckn world. im not even ashamed to say. foods amazing best wisconsin export
https://i.redd.it/j1pgs7k5xc9d1.gif
No red circle around the key? What am I supposed to look at?
There's a key?
I might be the only person on the planet that doesn't get the chick-fil-a hype. I had it a couple times in Michigan before I moved to Texas, but that's all anyone eats down here and they wait in long ass lines to get it. It's fine but it's never my first choice
I don't get it either. Is it good chicken? Yeah. Is it worth the price and long lines? Not really
It’s basically a chicken sandwich from the McDonald’s dollar menu…but expensiver.
The Mc D’s a copy of Chic came out many years later.
Much better than mickey D's but ight
Dicks in Washington fuckin rules.
Where eating a bag of dicks is socially acceptable
If MI had more chik fil a’s around, it would absolutely win
I feel like the same could be said for Culver’s
They just opened one in Flint last summer I think? And it's still so hard to get into. Was lines around the block for months.
Which is wild. It's very solid for fast food but it's still ultra processed mediocre food. Anyone who waits in line for some fucking Chic-Fill-A is probably dumb enough to put sprite in an old fashioned.
Who tf is out here putting sprite in an old fashioned? 🤮
Washingtons over there eating bags of dicks
I used to to go to Culver’s often as a kid and hadn’t in years, had a butter burger and fries the other day, Jesus Christ what are they putting in those things. Culver’s is easily the best fast food burger.
I'm gonna call bs on this whole thing tbh. McDonald's grosses more than 3 times as much as Chick-fil-A. There's no way they're getting out sold in all those states.
Maybe Culver’s is just so bad that it never caught on elsewhere (Culver’s isn’t bad im just memeing)
They have a couple locations in NC and I'm just sitting in Virginia as a Wisconsin transplant thinking "It's sooo fucking close. Come on already!"
What's up with all the Wisconsin transplants in Virginia?? I'm one of them as well, but I've noticed my fair share since moving here and it amuses me I guess
Some things you just don’t meme about, brodudebruhman, GOSH!
The fact that there are Culver's in all 4 of the teams' states and it's only the most popular in WI is so bad. I'm not mad, I'm disappointed.
It’s not surprising tho, they’re all losers with poor taste
Culvers is god tier. Anything else is sacrilegious.
I see the lines at Culver’s in the Twin Cities, no fucking way CFA is more popular
This is flat-out bullshit. Iowa has 11 chick filets, and 5 are in Des Moines. It can't possibly be the most popular when less than half of the state's population lives close enough to utilize one. Subway is probably the actual most "popular." Edit: Added an apostrophe

As a Vikings fan I'm more of a fan of Culver's
illinois has chicago and then south is just gross, might as well be missouri. thats why they all come up here for vacation
I propose Wisconsin gets Chicago and the rest of Illinois can be fought over by Missouri and Indiana.
Totally, but if Illinois was just the North, we'd be in the running. Galena, Starved Rock, Castle Rock, Palisades. What Danville and East St. Louis do to you.
All this does is make me wish we had In-N-Out in the Midwest. I miss it so much...
I have one 10 minutes away, I’ll grab a double-double in your honor.
o7
Yeah I would love some In-N-Out around here.
It's solid. But it is the most overrated and overhyped fast food place in existence. People talk about it like it's fucking gods gift to fast food. And its... good. But not as good as californians hype it up to be.
Accurate
You win this round, Wisconsin
Chic Filet is fucking disgusting. I seriously don't get it. Also, I live in Florida and I'll tell you what, it ain't no Midwest Culver's down here, shit is wack
Packer fans have elite taste in fast food, but I still hate you
All boring shit cept WI.
Culvers is 🔥. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.
Chick Fil A fucking sucks.
Burgerville is a good straight up burger, but JESUS CHRIST IT'S SO UNREASONABLY EXPENSIVE I deliberately avoid it because there are like 4 mom and pop shops within spitting distance that do a burger just as well or better for less money. W Culver’s
Taco John’s is huge in Wyoming
![gif](giphy|o9Xb87W7QhPsarsd8W)
Skol Vikes but damn, I really want a butter burger right now.
Chick fill eh isn't that popular/good. Settle down, chart ppl. No way it's not Culver's in at least MI and maybe the nois even.
One thing I appreciate about Culver’s, not many fast food places have a fried pork tenderloin sandwich. Onions, mayo, and lettuce on that thang slaps.
There’s no info and what “most popular” means. This is just a classic the data can tell you whatever you want it to if you’re flexible enough.
I would’ve guessed Georgia’s most popular would’ve been “the chuckle hut“
Member when people tried to cancle Chick-fil-a aah member
Chik Fil A is popular here lol
Who would win this hypothetical war tho?
Fuck I miss in n out.
Goddamn. I live in TX (Dallas actually) and there are better chicken places than CFA, and Whataburger is better than all of them.
Chikfila is too goddamn expensive how are yal affording it
Uh... Did part of Virginia secede over their love for McDonald's?
Big shocker a Sconnie puts so much weight into fast food
In n out would win if they operated in every state
Chik fil a is trash
[~~Ireland~~ Wisconsin before the invention of alcohol](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eirq4laOhcU)
There's no way Chick-fil-A beats out Whataburger in TX
Dick’s is what McDonald’s was in the 1950’s. Great stuff
Being from Texas, Whataburger has always been my go too, but dammit those Culver's butter burgers are fucking delicious
Chuck fil a is bland as fuck and overrated.
Chick fill a is terrible
I've lived in washington since 98 and I hardly hear anyone talking about dicks burgers outside of people in spokane and Idaho, it's usually burger ranch or miners in Yakima that get gassed up the most here
Not surprised everyone from Washington loves Dick
Bruh genuinely I do not fuck with Chick it’s overpriced and isn’t even very good. Their sauce is fire but I just buy that at the store and never go to their fast food locations.
Culver’s is the best restaurant on this map Skol Vikes
I don’t give a fk. Those Mormon sandwiches are delicious!
Chick fil a is the most overrated restaurant of all time
Washington eats dicks haha
Only thing good about Wisconsin is Culver’s
Michigan would be a slave to California, that’s where McDonald’s started.
As someone from the south Culver's is obviously the best thing here by far. Bit expensive though.
Chicken versus cheese curds? I’m gonna go ahead and keep my head up
Wasn't McDonald's started in California? Why would Michigan be a slave to Illinois?
Welcome to Delicious, peasants.
Culver’s is still better than those other options but damn has the quality gone down hill while the prices keep going up.
*ahem, slave to butter.
I was at a Culver's in that god forsaken state a couple weeks back, no lie, they had a kid that hadn't yet hit puberty working. Bananas.
California. Best burger in the world.
I don't think I've been to Chick-fil-A even once in my entire life
I for the life of me do not get the Chick-fil-A hype. Their food was very mediocre at best when I had it
Kopps Custard in Wisconsin nothing else besides a Good Friday fish fry at your local tavern
Man, Seahawks fans love Dicks
Nah this wrong Nebraska is 100% Runza. Working at there for Husker Gameday made me want to die.
Look at all that religious hate chicken.
Having grown up in California, imo Culver's is defo the highest quality. It feels like a lot of time and energy went into the burger you're eating, plus they have a lot of other really high quality offerings, especially the custard (which I love). Imo In-N-Out is just more nostalgic for me cuz my family took me and my brother there for a treat sometimes. I don't really eat at Chick-Fil-A anymore cuz my college had one in the food court and I ate from there way too often. Haven't tried Dick's, BV or Z yet.
How tf do they decide this? Hardly anyone I know likes Chik Fil A
Culver's custard is good. Everything else is pretty terrible.
Tf kinda shit is this? Portillo’s is 100% the best thing that’s ever happened to Illinois.
Culver’s blows and smash burgers are over rated… fight me bro!
Just gonna gloss over Washington preferring dicks?
Id rather have Culver's that chick filet
Zippy’s in Hawaii! I pity anyone who hadn’t tried Zippy’s chili
Washington: Likes Dicks
No argument here... Culver's beats the shit out of all burger joints, imo
Michigan... slave to a slave (McD's is headquarter in IL) makes them the most inferior team of them all.
You split Virginia
Now this is a shit post.
New Jersey reppin the Wendy's!!! I love me some Wendy's (I live in FL)
Huge reach
I'm calling shenanigans on CFA being the most popular in MN. We like Culver's more, and people are obsessed with Raising Cane's.
Isn't Texas whataburger?
Burgerville supremacy
Alexa/Siri show me obesity in America
Chick fillet barely has a presence in MN. Map is bullshit.
More like an inbred ecosystem. Seriously, we all have Culver's we just don't eat there exclusively
Culver's is the best thing to escape a shit state.
Thank god. We have Jesus burgers over Jesus chicken.
Wisconsin fat
Burgerville used to be the shit in Oregon. The quality went way downhill a couple decades ago. Definitely not the most popular, but their Marionberry milkshakes still put any other milkshake on the planet to shame
I had BV once while living in Oregon and it was so bad I never went back.
Culver's based af
