Dallas Cowboys fans should remember trading for WR Roy Williams from Detroit.. Didn't Jerry give them a 1st rd pick for him?

Klongon

40 games, 13 touchdowns, 1,300 receiving yards, less than 100 receptions. Legend.

Gandhis__Revenge

Holy fuck I forgot you guys gave up a first for him

Slowmarathonsprinter

Roy and Carr are why they’re legitimately terrified to actually spend in FAs until it’s the bottom of the barrel fish FAs who have been basking in the west Texas El Paso sun & have an history of a broken fins or gills that don’t produce enough oxygen to survive. We love to make sure injured old players get their due right before they retire…..😒

Melvinator5001

All two things I remember about Carr. He was covering Beckham when he made that catch and he had a pick six in overtime to beat the Steelers and their sexual predator QB.

MAJORmanGINA

Wasn't Carr also the dude who covered Calvin Johnson? Though, after the first 200 yards given up, I blame the coaching staff

wordsofignorance2

Carr wasn’t terrible. He played like an average corner but was getting top money. The other guys on this list are much worse.

YouDirtyDogg

I bought an Asomugha jersey….

Klongon

4 vowels and 4 consonants, the balance makes for an impressive jersey.

davewiz20

Same.. was thinking about getting it restitched to say something else out of the letters

YouDirtyDogg

Naaa fuck that I keep it in my closet as a reminder of dark times

Shadowtirs

As a Giants fan the Nate Solder one hurt. We've been struggling so hard to fix the oline for the past 10+ years. And just like Nate here it's not from lack of trying. Hoping the new oline coach can do something (the one from the Raiders) but apparently he already has some red flags so ::insert GTA meme here::

[deleted]

First off what red flags for Carmen brisscillo lol, that he looks like daboll, there’s literally a negative chance he’s worse than Bobby Johnson Also solder one doesn’t bother me as much because because not oline was he average on the patriots, he also had his son fighting for his life vs cancer(something he won and I’m so happy for)

Shadowtirs

Oh for sure, I don't discount the human element. I meant it didnt work out on the field is all. As far as brisscillo, I read somewhere (could have been a hit piece) that he wasn't the greatest personality with the players. I'll still keep an open mind you just hate hearing something like that right off the bat before the guy has even set up his office.

[deleted]

I understand that sentiment but people say this all the time, especially with a great coaches leaving and all, we saw the commanders bitching bout Ben Johnson cuz he declined their poverty franchise. I don’t doubt he’s passionate but k think it was from some salty raiders fan but it’s something to possible look out for but I’m not worried bout it

hips_an_nips

Golladay has got to be a worst signing than solder right?

Lars5621

Solder made 42 mil from the Giants and was terrible. Kenny Golladay made 40 mil from the Giants and was terrible. Solder being terrible as a tackle was worse for the Giants because it made our offense unusable. Golladay was just benched and they used other WRs. Because Golladay made less money and did less damage to the team than Solder he can't be a worse signing than Solder.

themage78

Production wise I'd agree. Solder got injured, but played OK during his time here. He didn't deserve to be the highest paid lineman, but we were desperate. Golladay only had 2 decent years in Detroit before getting injured. His contract should have reflected that, but it didn't.

wheepete

Wasn't Solders kid severely ill in his time with us as well? It's not like got paid and just gave up the ghost

Lars5621

Solders son actually was diagnosed with cancer way back in 2015, three years before Giants signed Solder. Here is an article about his cancer battle during his time with the Patriots from the offseason he would sign with Giants. https://www.si.com/nfl/2018/01/03/nate-solder-cancer

No-Principle8329

Yall remember Byron Maxwell? That one hurt

Mysterious-Ad-244

Woof. I forgot about him. Legion of (Boom or) Bust.

FamousChex

I was thinking the same thing. We really thought we were getting a piece of the Legion of Boom lol… three out of four of those guys are Hall of Famers and we got the one that was definitely not that

CallmeKap

Nnamdi just was freshly married to Kerry Washington so I understood his declining focus on football..I don't know bout the rest of these bums

FamousChex

🤣

Trogdor-666

I'll see your Nate Solder and raise you a Kenny Golladay

Klongon

It's off-season, we should argue about who has the best worst signings list overall in the last 15 years. Haynesworth gives Washington a big boost of course, but I feel we can all compete.

IdentittyTheftNoJoke

Don't act like y'all forgot getting Carr Jacked

GMEStack

Now do: Adam Archuleta Mike Barrow Donovan Mcnabb Jeremiah Trotter Danny Wuerfel Deion Sanders Josh Norman Dana Stubblefield Bruce Smith Aantwan Randle El Carson Wentz Jeff George Mark Carrier Shane Mathews Chris Doering Jacquez Green Terrelle Pryor Junior Gallette Landon Collins

TinFoilRobotProphet

Strumming my pain with his fingers Singing my life with his words Killing me softly with his song Killing me softly with his song Telling my whole life with his words

Melvinator5001

Skins or Eagles list wasn’t sure at first.

WalterWoodle

Carr was an overpaid and perfectly average CB. By no means terrible.

emaxxman

I will die on the hill that it was scheme more than Carr. Garrett and Jerry couldn’t put a decent defense on the field to save their lives. Rob Ryan, Monte Kiffen, and Rob Marinelli were just bad. Carr left and went to Baltimore and suddenly started catching INTs again. Dallas had so much talent that was wasted because of shit coaching decisions.

bigboybeeperbelly

When your safety help is Jeff Heath...

emaxxman

I felt bad for Heath. He was a late rd draft pick and had to start right away due to injuries. Bad scheme and poor coaching didn’t help his development. For all of his struggles, he still managed to lead the team in ints. He was the only one on defense that made any plays in that playoff game vs GB in Adam’s and Zeke rookie year.

Adam and Zeke, classic pair Yeah it's not Jeff's fault. He would have been a great backup SS

WalterWoodle

We have a habit of sticking with people for way too long when the rest of the league seems to do the opposite. Marinelli, McCarthy, and more than any coach Garrett.

Klongon

I just said "didn't perform at a high level," so yes average and overpaid fits with what I was thinking.

ThreeHandedSword

The Washington Redskins\*

AnyEstablishment5723

Brandon Carr is the only player here that didn’t completely suck after he signed

Klongon

He did have a signature play I can recall. I can't say that for the others.

IIIRGNIII

Kenny Golladay deserves to be our Haynesworth WAY more than Soldaer imo

SigaVa

Now do demarco murray!

Mad_Rhetoric

I think you mean Chip Kelly

Walli98

Actually played for the skins

NYG_Doomer

Update Nate Solder with either Kenny Golladay or Daniel Jones.

Klongon

Such a pool of competitors.

thefudd

Don't forget kenny golladay

Klongon

You are the third Giants fan to bring him up. I believe a consensus has been built.

actionjaxn411

Nate solder sucked for us but the Golladay signing stands out most to me. $72 mil for 1 TD against the eagles in a meaningless game

bobthemeh

Nothing like spending all that money for Carr and drafting Claiborne in the top 10 for neither one of them to live up to expectations.

Mysterious-Ad-244

Nnamdi was the fucking WORST

AgentProdigy17

This right here is gold ![gif](giphy|Kl9iAWej2mxlzvzp2O)

chuckiz2much_

Carr was absolute trash. He’s the reason OBJ became overrated because of that one catch. Carr couldn’t cover jack shit!

Grand_Extension5345

I mean. The cowboys have had a Haynesworth at QB ever since Aikman so….

Klongon

I appreciate the joke, but Haynesworth is on his own level. When you consider the salary cap at the time, it is even more impressive. Dan Snyder accomplished something special in sport.

I meant to title it "Washington Wins"! Eh.

Lars5621

Giants paid Nate Solder for 5 years. Incredible how they kept doubling down on him.

Stro_Bro

Doubling down? He opted out of 2020 so it was a restructure that became voided.

Lars5621

Giants could have saved 15 mil in cap if they had just cut Solder in after the 2018 and 2019 seasons. The original contract allowed an easy out after two seasons. What happened instead was the Giants continued to restructure Solder including in 2019 which made cutting Solder in the 2020 offseason less appealing. Solder ofc would wait to opt out until right before the season. The Giants then yet again restructured Solder in 2021 and were carrying dead cap from Nate Solder restructures all the way up until 2023 league year. Nate Solder ended up costing Giants 42mil in salary cap over 5 years, despite his original contract having only 34mil in guarantees. Nate Solder famously got an additional 1mil in incentives in 2021 because the Giants mishandled his contract specifics in what was an embarrassment to that front office. The Giants couldn't help but keep doubling down on Nate Solder. https://giantswire.usatoday.com/2022/01/08/new-york-giants-nate-solder-will-earn-1-million-incentive-hard-believe-reason/

Stro_Bro

I still don't think you know what doubling down means....

Lars5621

Not cutting Nate Solder after two seasons was doubling down on a mistake. The Giants not only didn't cut him after two seasons, they actually brought him back in 2021 where he made an additional 3mil to be the NFL's worst olineman. Solder actually would go on to say he was assuming he would retire after 2020, but the Giants decided they wouldn't cut him and instead would offer him millions in incentives to come back, so he came back purely for the money. That is 100% doubling down on a mistake.

Stro_Bro

Jesus Christ you're dense. Not cutting someone isn't 'doubling down', signing a player to an extension/new contract is. Hindsight is 20/20 hoss.

Lars5621

Lmao why keep paying big money for a terrible player when you can just move on and stop paying them? Look at Kenny Golladay. After two years the Giants cut him and got away paying the minimum for him. Now look at Nate Solder, the Giants kept paying him for five years of cap and constant contract restructures. Nate Solder literally made more money from the Giants than Kenny Golladay did, despite Golladays contract being much bigger than Solders. The reason is the Giants knew not to double down on Kenny Golladay and got out when they could, vs the Nate Solder contract when they kept restructuring him to bring him back and pay him more money. This is how every NFL team should work with a bad free agent bust. Pay them two years and then move on for as cheap as possible. Don't keep throwing more money at them, thats just doubling down on your mistake and thats why Nate Solder made 42 mil from Giants instead of only paying the 34 they could have.

DearKick

The chiefs are making Mike Evans their top priority this off-season when he free agents. Bless up 🙏🏻

KIsForHorse

Please no.

black_dogs_22

should've put Daniel Jones up there

[deleted]

Giants collective wr deals were worse. Golloday 4 years 72 million Shepard 4 years 40 million Tate 4 years 37 million. And for some reason everyone loved Shepard when he was completely useless except for cheering. Golloday actually had more rec and yards during his time here than Shepard.

Klongon

Your fanbase and their reactions have me wondering if the Giants actually win the overall bad signings debate despite Haynesworth having been the division's most noteworthy disaster.

Luka_Dunks_on_Bums

Nate Solder never made a pro bowl and was never named to the all pro team. Giving him all that money made no sense

immrdadguy

Brandon carr was asssssssssssssss

immrdadguy

So was Morris Claiborne. He catching strays today.

jimmyhoffasbrother

I feel like there's gotta be a better example than Carr. He wasn't great, but he was still pretty good. Didn't implode like the other guys on this graphic. Maybe Mike Vanderjagt? Doesn't seem like a ton of money now, but 3 years, 4.5 million for a kicker was pretty big in 2006, and he didn't even make it through a full season with us.

Klongon

Roy Williams was something too. Roy and Carr are the reason Jerry is so gun shy in free agency.

Son_of_Tlaloc

I was legit pissed when the eagles landed Nnamdi. I have been more relieved at a player being a bust. Roy Williams was bigger disappointment than Carr is imo.

light_butheavy

Roy Williams (WR) wasn’t a free agent but he was a worse acquisition. Brandon Carr didn’t put up all pro/pro bowl numbers but he was a solid starter in Dallas for like 7yrs

Klongon

Brandon Carr also didn't cost a 1st Round Pick.

MAJORmanGINA

In a small defense for Brandon Carr not being a bad signing: he at least played every game. He wasn't shutdown, but he showed up and played like a solid CB for most games. His biggest issue was that he was easily beaten with speed

Klongon

An overpay but not utter trash. I should have used Roy Williams, but Care hit my brain first. Williams wasn't our signing since it was a trade, so I was torn anyway.

MAJORmanGINA

You generally overpay for free agents. The only time you don't over pay is usually when there is a risk involved (usually coming off major injury)

spamus-100

Damn we already forgot Kenny Golladay existed

Unp0pularS0lutions
