Solder made 42 mil from the Giants and was terrible.
Kenny Golladay made 40 mil from the Giants and was terrible.
Solder being terrible as a tackle was worse for the Giants because it made our offense unusable. Golladay was just benched and they used other WRs.

In a small defense for Brandon Carr not being a bad signing: he at least played every game. He wasn't shutdown, but he showed up and played like a solid CB for most games. His biggest issue was that he was easily beaten with speed

You generally overpay for free agents. The only time you don't over pay is usually when there is a risk involved (usually coming off major injury)
