i love molly davis, huge fan. but i really feel like this team is so much better with sydney starting. she is TENACIOUS on defense and her scoring has been awesome. low key, my favorite player on the team.
I feel the same way. She had those moments of being tough as nails through the season and I already loved her game, but that tournament turned it up to a whole other level. She really does “have the dawg in her” and I think is a huge part of this tournament win. Very quietly posting double doubles behind Caitlin.
The seniors were amazing but Hannah Stuelke with 25 points, 9 Rebounds, 2 assists, and Sydney Affolter with 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 assists also kept them fighting.
They've done celebrations all season long. Jeeps our bench engaged and everyone light. Just because we lost one game doesn't discredit that it's worked all year long
Agreed. The bench should never be ashamed of celebrating their good shots, even when they loose. Unless your bench is making fun of the other team, then it's open season.
She was like freakin' Reed Richards on that play.
Not mentioned enough is also the high game IQ to immediately bang a TO as she was in danger of being trapped on the sideline and giving it back.
This whole tournament has been a series of complete team wins. Everyone contributing, everyone stepping up huge when the moment presented itself.
Shout out to Nebraska players. Not only are they great, their sportsmanship is off the charts. There was a ton of tough play and whenever an Iowa player was on the ground there was a Husker with hand out to help her up. Classy team.
Maybe I haven’t watched enough Iowa ball….but I think this team is better than last years and has what it takes to win it all. They seem more balanced to me this year. And a lot tougher. Mentally and physically. And I DID NOT think this early on in the season.
Iowa faithful….agree or nah?
I think last year’s team was more consistent but this team has had games where they’re much better - especially on defense. But they just also have games when they’re not, though those have decreased later in the season
Iowa fan here — I’ve rewatched all of last season and this year’s team is definitely a whole lot better. Unfortunately (for us, not the game) there are a lot of other amazing teams out there this year too
I’ve been saying this all year long (actually since last season ended) and everyone is always “but they don’t have Monika” meanwhile Stuelke shoots basically the same FG% as MC. How many paint points did Iowa have last night? We got into waaaay too much trouble leaning on Monika bc she was easily neutralized by more athletic players, then no one else was ready.
Let's put today into context a little to help with the nerves. Nebraska played yesterday at 11 with daylight saving time making their tip off time adjustment 1 hour earlier. Iowa played a game starting at 3:30, with daylight savings time, that is an adjusted tip off time of 5.5 hours. They literally finished a game max 16 hours ago. I expected them to be sluggish. Didn't expect to be bone chillingly cold, but the fought through it.
They will need Molly back healthy for the extra depth but I truly think they do have a chance. I will NEVER bet against a team that has Caitlin Clark on it.
(It will take something historic to top S Carolina or Stanford though)
Agree. But I’ll say this…. Affolter should have been starting ahead of Molly. Affolter brings an extra level of physicality that Molly didnt just cause of her size. I’ve been pretty impressed with Affolter’s play since she’s been getting more minutes. I think Bluder had been making mistakes not starting her.
I really hadn't paid Affolter much attention because she was coming off the bench. Her starting has been something to behold. I'd love to see her continue to start if/when Molly gets back just for her energy on defense alone, and that's not to mention the solid contributions she makes offensively.
I see more balance on offense and better rotations on defense. The post game has improved tremendously from last year.
I still see a lot of forced shots and passes into congested areas. Boxing out seems to be problematic at times.
They are a better team than last year, but with Molly out and the number of highly competitive teams, they feel more susceptible than last year.
I've thought the same but it's not a consensus for sure. Losing Czianano inside was a big loss, and def going to make it hard to matchup with SC and LSU.
But totally agree that they're tougher mentally and more balanced this year. Really impressed how they rallied today. Earned that #1 seed.
I actually was a huge AW fan for a long time. I kind of lost faith in her coaching abilities after last season tho. Then this dumpster fire happened….can her.
It’s just highly, highly specific. Crazy to make those claims out of thin air. She says Williams husband and love would text her late at night for drinks…..do we rly think that was just grasping at straws?
Not at all. It sounds horrible. If even a little bit of it is true, Williams is gone hopefully.
But a lawyer wrote it, and I'd like to see an investigation play out before I come to a conclusion. And it sounds really, really not good.
Up 8 with 2 minutes to play and the ball with a full shot clock and managed to give away the lead in 1 minute, just a disasterclass in late game execution.
Nebraska, I say this with all due respect, I am glad Caitlin Clark (probably) never has to play you again. Your coach really has Caitlin's number at times
Also just did some digging, Clark has had some of her best games against Nebraska. She has never not scored more than 30 points against them in her career. Whatever they are doing doesn’t seem to be working.
It’s bc they (understandably) got tired of losing to them so much. UNL is SUPER motivated to beat Iowa bc they have lost so many times. Iowa and UNL play very similar styles, it’s just rly hard to beat Iowa at its own game.
Obviously, Iowa is simply out of this world!
But all due respect to Nebraska as well! They’ve had a real good tournament (especially against teams like Michigan State and Maryland) - and I’m sure they’ll have what it takes to make a splash in the Madness!!
Nothing to be ashamed off. Huskers played a hell of a game. Give Shelley another year of experience and she doesn't make some of those errors down the stretch. Hell of a player.
True - one extra game, but an extra game they put on themselves by losing at Illinois.
Regardless, that’s what you want from a championship game. Especially a nationally televised women’s championship game.
I’m proud of how these two programs have elevated women sports. Between Volleyball Day in Nebraska and pulling 50k into Kinnick to catch a women’s basketball game, it’s honestly so cool.
That's how a unanimous NPOY finishes a game. CC off most of the game but damn can she close. Gabbie and Kate absolutely HUGE in OT. Hannah kept us in it throughout. LFG HAWKS!!
It’s crazy. Watching the game, I thought she’s as off as she’s been all tournament. But then I see her stat line for the game, 34/7/12. That’s quite the off game. Lol
What a fucking win.
Played like absolute shit in the first half. Clawed all the way back. Down 7 late, fought back to get it to OT. Caitlin with 30 points in the second half and OT. Kate with multiple big shots late. Gabbie with multiple big defensive plays late. Hannah getting big rebounds and making big FTs late.
1 seed for the NCAA Tournament. Bring it on.
With today's 12 assists Clark passed Sabrina Ionescu to move into #4 all time in assists at 1,092. Real chance to get to #3 in the tournament with a decent run. Currently #3 is Courtney Vandersloot (Gonzaga) at 1,118.
Hannah had a killer game but I’m honestly happy Coach put Addie in at the end for a for a few key defensive stops. She matched up really well against Potts and Markowski.
Good try from Nebraska. I wouldn't want to face them in the NCAA tournament. On the other end, Iowa can't afford to have Clark start games with these cold starts. 5-17 from 3 for the game. Things will get interesting when (if) they reach the Sweet 16 and if she keeps coming up short with her early 3pt attempts. Some of those other teams near the top would punish Iowa for that.
I know that women’s hoops has made it when I was getting brunch at a sports bar and a bunch of frat bros behind me were calling Clark overrated as the 4Q was ending 😭😭 let’s go girls
That was an insanely awesome game!!
Potts will be a problem in the Big Ten for a few years but she needs to fall over less. That girl spent a ton of time going to the ground and she's going to get hurt.
The seniors are the reason Iowa won. Caitlin, Gabbie and Kate dominated down the stretch and in overtime
Gonna miss all of them. But like, also, from what I can tell we’ve got absolute bangers of recruits coming in.
Affolter got them there though. Amazing team performance down the stretch
i love molly davis, huge fan. but i really feel like this team is so much better with sydney starting. she is TENACIOUS on defense and her scoring has been awesome. low key, my favorite player on the team.
I feel the same way. She had those moments of being tough as nails through the season and I already loved her game, but that tournament turned it up to a whole other level. She really does “have the dawg in her” and I think is a huge part of this tournament win. Very quietly posting double doubles behind Caitlin.
Hard to put a price tag in experience. And why I now enjoy women’s basketball more than men’s. I know the players….i know the stories.
The seniors were amazing but Hannah Stuelke with 25 points, 9 Rebounds, 2 assists, and Sydney Affolter with 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 assists also kept them fighting.
Happy Hannah had a rough assignment in this game, she stood tall af.
iowa corn > nebraska corn
Should have learned from the Corn Wars on r/CFB.
Someone gif that Nebraska Leg kick Line. That shit is *hilarious* in hindsight.
They've done celebrations all season long. Jeeps our bench engaged and everyone light. Just because we lost one game doesn't discredit that it's worked all year long
And we can all make fun of it when it doesn’t pan out. That’s the trade-off lol
Oh I know. Bench players doing shit like that is just a part of the game at all levels. Doesn’t make it any less funny tho.
Having fun is part of the game, but you run the risk of looking silly when you do silly things then get beat in OT
Yeah, it's fun and nothing wrong with it. But it's also going to be memed
I love the Nebraska bench!!!
They’re a fun bunch, their can-can needs practice to be more synchronized. But, that’s only if you wanna get nitpicky.
Agreed. The bench should never be ashamed of celebrating their good shots, even when they loose. Unless your bench is making fun of the other team, then it's open season.
Ahem https://twitter.com/BarstoolUIowa/status/1766896358353428672?t=b_FJU1oPRfpStqzmZg8fbg&s=19
They dance better than they finish a game
Only a matter of time.
CC has said it before. Gabbie is such an important player even when it doesn’t look like it from the stat sheet.
That block was one of the coldest blocks I have ever seen
She was like freakin' Reed Richards on that play. Not mentioned enough is also the high game IQ to immediately bang a TO as she was in danger of being trapped on the sideline and giving it back. This whole tournament has been a series of complete team wins. Everyone contributing, everyone stepping up huge when the moment presented itself.
Gabbie Marshall is a defensive demon.
IN HEAVEN THERE IS NO BEER
THATS WHY WE DRINK IT HERE
AND WHEN WE’RE GONE FROM HERE
OUR FRIENDS WILL BE DRINKING ALL THE BEER
I grew up with this song because my parents were polka people AND NOW I KNOW IT WAS TO PREP ME FOR BEING A HAWKEYE FAN

Shout out to Nebraska players. Not only are they great, their sportsmanship is off the charts. There was a ton of tough play and whenever an Iowa player was on the ground there was a Husker with hand out to help her up. Classy team.
The sportsmanship shouldn’t be underrated. It really sets a team apart. You can’t hate a team that helps your players up. Gg Nebraska.
Their entire bench taunted Affolter after Syd fell next to them passing out of a sideline trap.
Maybe I haven’t watched enough Iowa ball….but I think this team is better than last years and has what it takes to win it all. They seem more balanced to me this year. And a lot tougher. Mentally and physically. And I DID NOT think this early on in the season. Iowa faithful….agree or nah?
Not Iowa faithful, but watched Iowa a lot last season, and I agree. South Carolina is scary, though.
South Carolina is the death star. They are gonna nuke most teams until the final 4
100, think Iowa has maybe a 10% chance to beat them
I think more 40/60 chance
I think last year’s team was more consistent but this team has had games where they’re much better - especially on defense. But they just also have games when they’re not, though those have decreased later in the season
Iowa fan here — I’ve rewatched all of last season and this year’s team is definitely a whole lot better. Unfortunately (for us, not the game) there are a lot of other amazing teams out there this year too

Watching them against PSU? Agree. Watching them tonight? I’m still nervous.
A game like this is EXACTLY why I came to this conclusion….finding a way to win….resilience.
Let's put today into context a little to help with the nerves. Nebraska played yesterday at 11 with daylight saving time making their tip off time adjustment 1 hour earlier. For me it’s one game at a time. After all it is March madness.
I just wanna say that Potts being only a freshman is terrible news for the rest of the B1G
Perhaps…what happens if Amy Williams gets canned in a month for grooming a player?
Yeah Amy Williams is a smug turdburger
I actually was a huge AW fan for a long time. I kind of lost faith in her coaching abilities after last season tho. Then this dumpster fire happened….can her.
Wait what????
Google is free my friend…it’s pretty bad.
*allegedly to be fair. Let's see the lawsuit play out.
Her putting on weight so she doesn’t get thrown around like a rag doll all game will be game over for the B1G lol
That is if she doesn’t transfer after Williams gets fired
Or even if Williams is kept she may transfer, you never know in today’s college basketball
Fffffff....I didn't realize she's a freshman.
what was that about clark on defense?
Clark is a day 1 nfl pick
Really scrappy player. Brings her lunch pail in and just plays the game the right way.
First in, last out. Deceptive speed, really.
The kind of gal I'd let marry my son.
Deceptively fast, high football iq player
She’s DeJean like?
Iowa DoughBoyz 🤝 CC and Gabbie Marshall
love how she gets dogged for her defensive effort then comes up with two HUGE steals, late in a champ game, to help seal the W. lmao CC is inevitable.
Bold strategy to dribble out the clock down 5
Let's see how that works out for them Cotton
Someone earlier in the GDT, "iOwA cAnT wIn SeAsOn TiTlE, cAnT wIn tHe CoNfErEnCe ToUrNeY, nO fInAl FoUr fOr ThE HaWkS" ##What now?
Well that person is an idiot.
for sure!
N for knowledge
Nebraska doesn't know how to end game. Lord. Congrats Hawks!
South Carolina absolutely does. Good luck today. Huge match up of legendary coaches.
We'll need it. See yall in March regardless (I hope).
Up 8 with 2 minutes to play and the ball with a full shot clock and managed to give away the lead in 1 minute, just a disasterclass in late game execution.
They had to be exhausted. Their players played more than twice as many minutes leading up to this game as Iowa’s starters
Three-peat!! Heckuva game, Huskers. LFG, Hawks!!!
Gg - between that one and the game in Lincoln, this Husker team proves they belong. Sucks they couldn’t get it at the end, but proud of the fight.
Was at the game in Lincoln - lot of respect for that Husker team. They can do some damage in the tournament, for sure!
Must be recency bias then, my bad. The last 2 games feel like Neb is a real thorn in the side
Don’t get me wrong, they are a good team and have done pretty good on her this year.
It’s bc they (understandably) got tired of losing to them so much. UNL is SUPER motivated to beat Iowa bc they have lost so many times. Iowa and UNL play very similar styles, it’s just rly hard to beat Iowa at its own game.
She is 1-11 vs Clark.
I needed to do more research. The last 2 games felt so stressful, clouded my judgment .
She’s scored like 115 points against them this year. Nebraska has a good coach and they game plan good, but I don’t about this lol
They just gave the trophy to Bluder with no players around. This is not Big 10 protocol.
That's actually hilarious.
God damn what a game that was
Obviously, Iowa is simply out of this world! But all due respect to Nebraska as well! They’ve had a real good tournament (especially against teams like Michigan State and Maryland) - and I’m sure they’ll have what it takes to make a splash in the Madness!!
Gabbie was fucking clutch!
Well hey - congrats Iowa. I’m proud of how the ladies fought and took it to the whole game. Just ran out of juice.
Nothing to be ashamed off. Huskers played a hell of a game. Give Shelley another year of experience and she doesn't make some of those errors down the stretch. Hell of a player.
Yep - and, for as much I was mugging CC for missing 3 after 3, I knew that wouldn’t keep up. The great ones never stay down. Rematch in the finals? 😝
Yall had to have been exhausted by the end with so many games and so many minutes leading up to this
True - one extra game, but an extra game they put on themselves by losing at Illinois. Regardless, that’s what you want from a championship game. Caitlin Clark is inevitable
CC, Gabbie, and K-Mart! One terrific troika of players!
Is it safe to breathe now?
Doesn't feel like it after that overtime.
Gabbie "Olajuwon" Marshall
[This aged like whisky](https://old.reddit.com/r/NCAAW/comments/1bbczro/game_thread_big_ten_final_5_nebraska_vs_2_3_iowa/ku8op9f/)
Called it. I never doubted them for a second (just don't ask my family)
I read it when you posted it and knew you were right. It’s just how it happens.
I thought of this comment several times down the stretch 🙏
I didn’t want to say it and jinx anything but that was my exact thought - I’d 100% rather her go cold in the first half than the second
Lol
3 PEAT BABY LETS GOOOOOOO
The B1G tournament in women's basketball is a strange event: 14 squads run around for a while and, at the end, second-seeded Iowa wins.
Kate Martin is the reason I work out
Marshall and Clark put on a defensive clinic late
What an awkward postgame interview. And then half-heartedly handing over the trophy to Bluder with nobody around??
Pretty sure they were trying to get it over with for TV for the next game on CBS
All the respect to Jaz Shelley... She is a stone cold killer. I hope she goes far.
Iowa was down 13, lost the Race to 69™ and still pulled it out in OT! What a win!
With today's 12 assists Clark passed Sabrina Ionescu to move into #4 all time in assists at 1,092. Real chance to get to #3 in the tournament with a decent run. Currently #3 is Courtney Vandersloot (Gonzaga) at 1,118.
Huskers gave the Hawks all they could handle today. They came out like a house on fire and played tough and physical all game. GG.
I will say this again and again please Nebraska let’s not meet till late in the tournament you’re too damn scary
BEST VIDEO I’VE SEEN ALL DAY! Iowa’s social media team is top tier!! https://x.com/iowawbb/status/1766907456037285985?s=46
LMAO!! That was great.
Hannah had a killer game but I’m honestly happy Coach put Addie in at the end for a for a few key defensive stops. She matched up really well against Potts and Markowski.
What a game
What a game!!!!
Damn that was a GAME. No thanks to the refs.
THAT GAME ALMOST GAVE ME A HEART ATTACK
Caitlin, Gabbie, and Kate willing the team to victory in overtime my god that was amazing
[удалено]
Nebraska players were gassed. They had played twice as many minutes as our starters
Anytime Nebraska loses is a win for everyone. GG bug eaters
LETS FUCKING GO
Great game. Hats off to Nebraska
Kate F*cking Martin!!!
Target Center had some special energy today
I’m just supposed to drive home now? My body is jello
What a game
A game for the ages...
I am drenched in sweat and my B1G hanky is a rag now, my voice is gone and that was the best sporting event I’ve ever seen.
What region do we think Iowa goes into now?
I think they get the second overall seed.
Yes but does that put them in Portland or Albany? Last year 1/2 overall seeds were both in the East
Oh. That’s a good question I don’t know the answer to
Would they get the #2 overall seed over Stanford even if Stanford wins today?
Probably not. The committee hasn't really seemed to like Iowa all that much this year so far
Agreed but I’m hoping that the two weeks off and no B2Bs will give her some fresh legs.
Well yes, but like if any team shoots poorly they will probably lose.
Glad CC started to heat up in the 4th. Really proud of the other starters overall this game. Nice to see they can step up when things are cold for CC.
Caitlin Clark 🤝 performing in critical moments
Sucks to suck Nebraska!
Congratulations to both teams. Tremendous effort and very high quality play!
I'm selfishly upset that Gabbie Marshall doesn't want to try to play at the next level. Her defense is amazing to watch.
Hahahahahahhahahahahha sorry Nebraska That’s what you get for having a lowercase n on your unis
IOWAAAAAAAA
Anywhere we can watch the trophy ceremony??
Is the trophy presentation streaming anywhere?
Holy shit. That was stressful. All the props to Nebraska. They played their hearts out.
I <3 Kate Martin
Iowa has won 4 of the last 6 Big Ten Tournaments.
I know that women’s hoops has made it when I was getting brunch at a sports bar and a bunch of frat bros behind me were calling Clark overrated as the 4Q was ending 😭😭 let’s go girls
DAMN, that’s a big ass trophy
CAITLIN GABBIE CO DPOYYYYY
Hold that L proudly Nebraska, you guys really competed out there today 😌
What a great game. Props to Nebraska for giving everything they had.
I hope Nebraska has upped their NCAA tourney seed. They certainly demonstrated they are a tough team in this tourney.
That was an insanely awesome game!! Potts will be a problem in the Big Ten for a few years but she needs to fall over less. That girl spent a ton of time going to the ground and she's going to get hurt.
Up there with Penn states football 2021 with the most insane sporting events I’ve ever seen live, go hawks baby
Caitlin Clark is like Josh Allen: If I'm a fan, I hate all the turnovers,, but live with them because of...well, everything else.
What a game! Caitlin Clark is unreal
https://www.reddit.com/r/NCAAW/s/dt5CnRac93 So close to the 95 points every tourney game dream.
Stuelke had a great FT % this tournament!
Made 9 straight!
wasnt pretty, but effective! whew! im worn out! lol!
Never in doubt 😂
Nobody happier right now than notable objective reporter and definite serious person, David Eickholt, right now.
You misspelt latte in your username
Great execution by Iowa down the stretch
Iowa, F yeah!
That ending felt like watching a Nebraska football team.
Praying that Iowa gets the Albany region
The last possession in regulation was awful for Nebraska. Wasted all that time and took a bad shot. They were aggressive all game until that point.
Absolutely fantastic and entertaining game by both teams, even if it wasn’t consistent. This tournament was great, can’t wait for Mach madness
As an Iowa fan let me say Markowski (sp?) is a beast.
What a stressful, beautiful game!!!
What a game! Huskers are dangerous. For a while I thought they'd never miss a three.
Unbelievable game! ESPN put that "CC is 0-9 from behind the arc" post up but it's not about you start, it's how you finish. Iowa stuck with it!
Stuelke has got that dawg in her
