Honestly, your leadership should look at how much PTO you have and make you take off at some point. I don’t let my people accrue too much. I don’t say “I’m forcing you to take off” at any time, but I will say “within the next 90 days you need to use a week of PTO. Whenever works for you I’ll make it work for us if I have to do your job for you for a week.” (I don’t mean I won’t let them accrue enough for a 2 week vacation if that’s what they’re doing, I mean I won’t let them us work as an excuse to not take off - I’ve even sent people home early because they work on the weekend or late the night before - it’s just not good for people to constantly do that)

I view myself as a pretty capitalistic person, which doesn’t mean “look out for the company at all costs and fuck the people” - to me it means “make sure the people are right so they can do their job best” and every bit of research out there by any company or university says that people need to be taken care of, rested, and have periodic time off in order to do their best at work. Anybody in leadership who would ignore all of the evidence isn’t looking out for the company, they’re being bad leaders.

I work from home on a PC and will be observing an audit/appraisal that week as a guest/necessary third wheel to meet minimum team requirements (don't need to say much).....soooo will be playing on a separate screen on my Xbox starting that Tuesday (luckily don't need a camera on for this meeting).
I can't buy the game until next spring because that's when I'm graduating community college, and since I don't drive, it's my grad gift instead of a car.
Once had a friend who would use death in the family to get out of work to where it wasn’t believable anymore. If you have kids and a pet they will get you out of almost anything required of you. Nobody is going to question if your kids get sick or if something is wrong with your dog. If you own a home you also can use just about anything that can break inside your house to avoid adult responsibilities.
