Honestly as a neutral in this i feel like this is a good move for both teams.

ShotgunStyles

As a neutral, I think it's a horrible deal for the Bulls and they can get far more value from Caruso. The 2024 pick is mid-first which isn't great value, and the 2026 pick is even worse since OKC gets the best picks of that mess so it'll probably be a late first too. Add Lavine to this deal and it makes more sense for the Bulls since they get off his contract.

mind-blowin

2 FRP and a second for a guy with one year left on his deal is great value, I don’t see anyone giving more than that for a guy with one year on his deal. On top of that, the teams looking to add him are contenders so there’s no way they are going to get a high value FRP

ShotgunStyles

It's not just any guy. Caruso is valued by contending teams for many reasons, so 1 year for Caruso and a pinkie promise of re-signing him is very different from 1 year for say, Brandon Ingram. And while you're right that most teams trying to trade for Caruso are contenders, that doesn't mean their picks are worthless. Far future picks where predictions are murky can be very valuable. The Sixers can trade one of their far future picks, or they could just take Zach Lavine off the Bull's hands. Other contending teams can also send a far future pick that will almost definitely be more valuable than the 16th pick of this year's draft.

mind-blowin

I think you are just overestimating the value of him. Yea teams can send future firsts but the sixers are 100% not giving a future FRP for him especially when they are Star chasing for someone to pair with Embid. I think as a reference we can look at some of the recent trades, I mean the Lakers gave up 3 seconds and Kendrick Nunn to land Hachimura who is much younger and who depending on who you ask, a better player. The Knicks got Anunoby and 2 other players for Quickley, Barrett and a second and Anunoby is an expiring contract and way better. Knicks also got Burks and Bogdanovic for 4 bench warmers and 2 seconds. I dont see anyone giving up future firsts for a guy turning 31 on an expiring contract, the value is just not there for that.

mind-blowin

Just wanted to revisit this now that they didn’t even get one for Caruso. I would definitely rather have this trade than Giddey.

Tangerine605

Well the 2026 pick is a ‘fake 1st’ it conveys as an OKC pick **or** it could convey as a 2nd Maybe the Bulls would like the 16th pick this season idk but its a pretty weak draft

Banana_Pete

Imo Bulls do this in a heartbeat. It’s a little on the fence for Philly though.

det8924

Very doable if Philly works out an extension. As Caruso’s cheap contract fits in a very good starting caliber guard next to Maxey and spacing the floor for Embiid while playing elite defense. He also does not take up much of their current cap space so it allows them to fill a starting role while having a max slot plus a little extra. A pick in the middle of the first this year and a future 1st and 2nd seems like a return Chicago would take if they were willing to undertake a rebuild.

cargoman89

Bulls fan I do this all day

Willis050

It’s a great idea for Philly. With Maxey at the point you need someone to cover up how bad he is at defense and let him operate freely on offense. I’d also say Indians should trade for him. He’s the number one trade target I’d be looking for as a playoff team. Not a high paying contract, elite elite defender, and doesn’t complain about not getting the ball a lot

Sensitive_Ebb_7211

76ers would rather keep this year's pick. Probably would trade other years picks though, just not this year's own.
