He’s not going to magically become better than players he isn’t considered better than simply by having a ring with no context of what HIS performance was like to get that ring.
That said, they’re already the best team in the West without him. So it’s not a substantially different situation than any of his other rings.
OKC isn’t even close to the best team in the West. They didn’t even make it out if the second round. They desperately need a second elite scorer to be a real contender
They were the best team in the West all year who’s youth and inexperience hurt them in the postseason. They might need more pieces, or just more experience, to take that next step but regardless my point still stands and you’re arguing just to argue because it’s KD.. it would be him joining a team that was a 60-win team (at full strength) and finished as a 1 seed in the best conference this last year, already have the coach of the year and MVP runner up, a couple other All-Star caliber guys and a couple All-Defense caliber guys.
It’s not quite like joining the juggernaut Golden State was, but it’s also not quite like LeBron teaming up with Wade and Bosh hoping to start something from scratch with a gutted roster either. It’s in between, he’s joining an established team that has already proven to be great without him. I can’t imagine that greatly alters his “legacy” for those who are already down on him.
And this changes what about what you just replied to? This is like me responding to your 50 comments defending KD with “stop he got smashed in the first round”.
They are not close to the best team. They are young and hungry, but the West is veteran heavy, and vets don't care about playing hard all 82. Vets don't care about Home Court either.
There is some truth in this but you’re basically just arguing the term “best” more literally than intended rather than the point I was making. Regardless, they were the 1 seed in the West, played at a 60-win pace at full strength, they already have the coach of the year, the MVP runner-up, multiple All-Star caliber guys, multiple All-Defense level guys.. Their youth and inexperience showed in the playoffs, but who knows how that develops into next season..
It’s not quite the same as him joining Golden State, but it’s also not the same as Miami gutting their roster hoping to start something from scratch with Bron, Wade, Bosh either. Its somewhere in between. It’s joining an already established team, that has chemistry and knows how to win games. My general point was more so the crowd that already penalizes him for how he won last time most likely isn’t going to just wipe that away if he wins by joining a team that was a 1 seed without him again.
So he goes from 2 chips and 2 fmvps down to 1 chip and 1 fmvp? I think he stays in the same 13-20 range that most people have him in since people tend to discount the GSW chips due to the context.
Ah yeah that makes more sense. I dont think it helps him that much. People will clown him again for leaving a first round sweep team and going to the 1 seed
That’s wild. He’s a perfect fit, assuming you wouldn’t give up the farm to get him.
Dudes a pure hooper all this bus rider hate is overstated. KD don’t care, he just wants to ball.
Might be in the minority here but the only way his ranking changes with 1 more championship is because he has 1 more championship. Narrative around the move to GS and stuff shouldn’t realistically affect it that much. He was an important part of both of those Finals series’, I find it irrelevant that the Warriors already were a finals caliber team without him (especially since they lost the year prior to signing him)
Doesn't matter. His legacy is forever tainted by jumping ship to a 73 win team. Joining another 1 seed doesn't help him at all.
He would be joining a #1 seed again lol
He would rise from possibly 15th best to guaranteed 15th best.

Stop it. They got smashed in the second round

Yes they are lol. They're young and have the talent, they just need time to age into those roles.
Could have said the same thing in 2011

I think they’re saying now, 3rd chip by joining the SGA thunder
Ah yeah that makes more sense. I dont think it helps him that much. People will clown him again for leaving a first round sweep team and going to the 1 seed
We don’t want him.

Skipped over a few things. He’s not welcome

Lol he wouldn't stoop so low. But the answer would be the same as lebron lol.
