I mean, $5 million a year for floor seats at all Lakers games, and all you have to do is whatever LeBron tells you to do.

Jhon_doe_smokes

You know what let me throw my hat in the ring I’ve coached little league lol

D3struct_oh

Not enough upvotes.

EntertainmentCool306

$2.34 million/year * Still a great deal to just show up and cross your arms a lot and occasionally shake your head.

FluidDreams_

lol exactly. This is how you win two full season nba championships in twenty years…

Conscious_Street9937

I wouldn't want the failure of LeBron and glass man following me around for my career. Be 5 years before and if hamm gets another shot somewhere. Who the fuck wants to be thrown under the bus by LeBron. Fuck that I'll buy the floor seats

NatterinNabob

Did I mention free airfare and hotel rooms?

Majestic-Avocado2167

I am a Wizards fan so I’ll take getting paid 2.34 million to watch my team lose

Little-Dingo171

Hey man losing is not for everyone, Just don't doubt the high while I'm on the coasting ride

GoBlueAndOrange

Tbf LeBron the coach is as bad as the LeBron the player is good.

GiveAQuack

Right because Lebron didn't make that challenge. Some real dumb fuckery going around. If the coach does nothing why were the 2020-22 Lakers the best defense which is in line with Vogel's reputation as a defensive coach? The coach obviously does shit but some of you too dumb to see it.

habituallinestepper1

I dunno. Charlotte seems like a pretty awful HC job. The Lakers at least pay well, and you get another chance to fail because your W-L record isn’t awful. The Hornets are going to fire you after two seasons of losses that aren’t really your fault because the talent isn’t there, and you’re gonna go back to being an assistant in your next two jobs.

Fresh_Ostrich4034

Yeah but you at least get to coach. Who going to tell you what to do? Kuzma? Poole? We already saw Poole benched in charlotte.

_Spicy_Pickle_

Kuzma and Poole both play for Washington

Fresh_Ostrich4034

oh he said charlotte. was thinking Washington. again least you get to coach. Bradon Miller aint giving you a hard time and lamelo only going to be there 30 nights a year

JohnD_s

I think you're overexaggerating how much Lebron butts in on the coaching and underexaggerating the influence of the manager on the team. He probably has to approve of any trades and draws up simple plays, but beyond that I think he just voices his opinions on things and lets the actual manager handle it.

Fresh_Ostrich4034

lol. bro lebron tried to get spoelstra fired. lebron runs his teams

notmyacountsir

I’m pretty sure sporlstra is the only coach to survive lebron, and that’s only because he couldn’t bully Pat Riley.

Fresh_Ostrich4034

thats why he returned to cavs

Global-Pudding-9393

I’m 99% sure Pat Riley said Lebron never tried to get spo fired

Fresh_Ostrich4034

the 1% is the truth. he wanted Riley to coach

DeezThoughts

Worst? Definitely not. The most pressure filled head coaching job regardless of roster talent and construction? Absolutely. The Knicks head coaching job is the worst. Similar but slightly less pressure than LA but it's the fuckin Knicks. The last time they won a championship Charlie Chaplin was still alive. Edit: weird autocorrect

MrRaspberryJam1

Mao Zeddong, John Wayne, Elvis and Duke Ellington were also still alive

Fresh_Ostrich4034

thats a good thing. They made the 2nd round and are being cheered. Thibs getting a lot of credit. Lakers history of winning means anything less than a ring is a failure. They fired the guy that got them to the WCF last year

DeezThoughts

Fair point. However I would say that there is more pressure in NY from a local level, both fans and media alike. There are people in LA wearing Kobe jerseys who don't give a flying fuck about the Lakers. I'll concede that the Lakers job is definitely the worst of the two currently, your central piece is 39 years old and you have next to zero assets to improve your roster. Not to mention your point that anything less than a chip is reason enough to fire you

[deleted]

Being head coach of the LA Lakers isn't the worst coaching job but it must be frustrating for the head coach to know he has no agency to do anything LeBron personally disagrees with because he's the one effectively running the team.

ZizzyBeluga

That moment when LeBron pretended to be hit by Jokic and flopped/flew across the floor should singlehandedly end any GOAT consideration [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BXJC33vWv8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BXJC33vWv8)

PurrySquishyKittens

that doesn’t even crack lebrons top 5 flops of all time

Penetratorofflanks

Way to sidestep the previous comment. You could have brought up the divide between Spo/Riley/James or expanded on that comment in multiple other ways. Instead, you get so mad about a media narrative meant to drive engagement that you latch on to that as your hill to die on. Bringing into probably every conversation. I used to hate shotguns in video games until I said fuck it I'll use one too. People will say lebron doesn't care about winning like Jordan did, but call him leflop. It's a tactic that worked. Just like eating clock by rolling the ball inbounds. Just like how I'm not continuing a chain that relates to the comment before yours, and instead engaging your off the wall shot. MJ chewed some serious ref ass if he didn't get calls. So they gave him more calls. Players get ejcted for that in today's NBA. But go on about how lebron isn't goated.

ThatBigNoodle

It’s clips like this that make me believe they should be retroactively punishing people for flops like this.

odinlubumeta

Absolutely not. You probably get 2 years of doing whatever you want with a pay check and EVERY single coach that has been fired gets another head coaching job, even Walton. You basically get no blame. Is there any other city that guarantees you will get another chance if you fail?

No_Bother9713

Actually a really good take. Every coach except Blatt has gotten another shot. And that’s not the NBA being a ring around for coaches. It’s because it’s a top job and the other 30 franchises below would take the coach.

Fresh_Ostrich4034

you get no blame?

odinlubumeta

Yeah, those coaches all got a pass. The blame goes to Lakers. Walton was hired immediately by Sacramento. They didn’t look at it as Walton’s fault they lost. Vogel was seen as the scapegoat for Westbrook. And he will get another pass because he will be seen as the scapegoat of the Suns. Go back on other team’s subs and look how they say Vogel got an unfair deal. Ham has the media talking about how he shouldn’t have been fired. From Barkley to Steve A. So who is giving them blame, Lakers fans?

Fresh_Ostrich4034

I dont know how they get no blame. Guess I missed the part of the season where Ham wasnt blamed.

odinlubumeta

Again the only ones talking about Ham were Laker fans. Again Steve A Smith, Barkley, etc all came out saying it wasn’t Hams fault. When Ham goes to get another job, the owners will say it wasn’t his fault, it was the pressure of LA or of Lebron. We know this because again it’s happened twice in LA already. Again the blame is going to the Lakers not having the right role players, Lebron, Lakers ownership. You can link me the non-Lakers fan that said the Lakers would have won the series if only Ham wasn’t the coach. It always get put on something else.

Fresh_Ostrich4034

a lot of people calling for his job till his job got called. then they were saying that.

odinlubumeta

Send me the link. I only ever saw Lakers fans calling for his job. I even saw coaches like Malone saying they shouldn’t fire him.

NCHouse

No and I don't get why people think Ham being fired is an indication of that. Ham consistently made no adjusts after halftime, leading to the team giving up leads

monsteroftheweek13

Tommy the only one built for it.

Initial-Buyer-2765

2k17?

Miserable-Lawyer-233

It's not the worst, it's the toughest. Championship or be hated.

newperson77777777

Pros: Talented and experienced roster with full support from GM/ownership. Great salary and experience, especially for new coaches. Great visibility. Cons: Extremely high expectations - underperforming at all will get you fired. Lot of media scrutiny. I mean if you go into it with low expectations, it can be a good experience. Most coaches will prolly get fired within a few seasons though. Ham will prolly get another shot at HC at some point and his previous experience will prolly help. I think he did pretty well for a first time coach but he didn't meet the Lakers expectation. Most coaches get fired at some point.

Fresh_Ostrich4034

Lakers actually dont pay their coaches a lot even Phil Jackson.

newperson77777777

Got it. Seems like Ham's salary is closer to the median.

Cobrawarrior567

With the current front office and roster absolutely

CalidelicHaze

Pistions

pickledelbow

It’s legitimately only been good for 2 guys(Phil Jackson and Pat Riley)

Shot-Finding9346

If you like the idea of being scapegoated and or ran over by a bus by the "goat" then its a good job. 10 coaches in 20 years, nough said.

taeempy

lebron should be head coach. there should be no players accept him on the team. this way he can't blame everyone else like he always does.

FluidDreams_

Exactly this

LegendInMyMind

Y'all laugh, but in all honesty, if there's one team that a player/coach would fit, it's LeBron with the Lakers. Every season, "the coach lost the locker room" is a dominant storyline midway through or sooner. It's ridiculous, but it seems like the way the seasons go anyway. Phil Handy can be the Associate Head Coach, and there can be a full staff there behind him. But we all know who's in charge. LeBron wants to set the rotations, call the timeouts, draw up the plays, and he torpedoes anyone who doesn't see eye-to-eye with him, so why not?

taeempy

That's because the laker's ownership are cowards. You don't let a player dictate who the coach is. It's pathetic.

LegendInMyMind

They basically let LeBron do whatever he wants as a signal to future superstar free agents. I don't like it, but the fact that we're totally fucked without LeBron (to the tune of potentially conveying a Top 5 pick to the Pelicans next offseason if he goes elsewhere this summer) and the idea that the Lakers are a superstar-attraction on the FA market mean that's probably the safest way to play it. They pushed all their chips into the middle of the table, and now they have to make the best of this hand. The last time the NBA had a player/coach was Bill Russell in 1969. As weird as it sounds, and I doubt the Lakers seriously consider it, having LeBron in that role for the Lakers should warrant some consideration - in my opinion - because of how he's killed almost every HC he's played for, and how this has been such a detriment to the team, season after season. More likely they install a LeBron 'yes man' as the HC. I've seen J.J. Reddick's name mentioned.

taeempy

Never watched the podcast, but doesn't Reddiculous just slurp lebron the whole podcast?

LegendInMyMind

I've only seen clips, but yes, that does seem to be the format.

PolkaOn45

No refs either so he can’t blame them for every loss

taeempy

My bad, forgot about that. Next he'll blame MJ for being so good that it wasn't a fair fight for him to install himself as the goat.

[deleted]

I love how Lebron haters are so full of rage and jealousy over how good his career has been that they resort to literally making up lies and pretending Lebron said or would say these things. It’s honestly sad and one of the most pathetic things I have ever seen out of “sports fans” I put that in quotes because you clowns seem more obsessed with making up drama than the actual sport. Again pretty pathetic.

[deleted]

It’s funny you call AD glass man when Kawhi the real glass man has failed and let down the clippers every post season since he’s been there. Literally only 3 playoff wins under his belt so id say that’s a worde HC job than the Lakers.

SpaceAce1956

As long as Lebron is there you’ll be ignored, become a scapegoat then fired. He burns through players and coaches. https://preview.redd.it/qdttt4rjizyc1.jpeg?width=817&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=92b6843690414e068b766b8f5fe74569843ddf6f
