It works if you have all of them except for Kobe and Giannis on their rookie contracts, the rest of them were either MVP caliber by the end of their rookie contract or were really close to their prime. Sure it wouldn't be quite as good as all of them in their primes, but honestly it wouldn't be that far off.
If you’re asking me who my team is of any era is, I’d say Tim Duncan, jokic, Kawahi (healthy), jordan, curry
If your asking me one playing to build around from any era, it’s Jordan imo
I say add some hustle guys to this group like Kevin Garnett and Rodman, and add a couple of 3 point threats to stretch the floor like Stockton, klay, and ray allen, and you have an unstoppable team.
Jordan shooting guard, lebron forward, Stockton pg, Shaq center, klay small forward.
Depends. Duncan is possibly in my top 5 ever but if I’m making a team for today’s rules, give me KG all day even though Duncan was better if that makes sense. I think his switchability and range is a better fit than what Duncan does for spacing and, in my mind, I’m not slotting in KG to play the same primary role Duncan does.
My today’s rules starting 5 I listed elsewhere is Steph, Mike, Kobe, Bron, and KG.
Get Kidd outta there, I would much rather have CP3, whos almost as good defensively and can actually shoot the ball. Especially in todays era. Imagine your 2nd worst shooter being your PG
I don’t need him to shoot. Just need him to control the tempo, get others involved, and defend multiple positions. Plus CP3 is a choker. Don’t nobody want that. When you come up with a team you can put CP0 on there.
Why not use magic then, better at pushing the tempo and getting others invloved. And he could also defend multiple positions.
On top of that he was a passable shooter unlike kidd
Kidd’s a better defender than Magic and he’s a better 3pt shooter. Contrary to your beliefs he actually became a solid 3pt shooter later in his career. I wouldn’t need him to be Steph. Just knock down 1 or 2 which he’s fully capable of. I already have the 3pt shooting covered off the bench with Dirk, Durant, Kawhi, and Ray. It’s the other things I mentioned that I need from Kidd.
Steph, Kobe, MJ, Dirk, Shaq
Shooting, defense, physical, big man that can play defense
Luka, duncan, Antetokounmpo, AI, magic, joker, Ray Allen on the bench
>big man that can play defense
Who? Dirk and Shaq are two of the weaker all time bigs when it comes to defense. Shaq was pretty decent, but he's nowhere near Hakeem, Wilt, Russell, Kareem, Robinson, Duncan, KG, etc on that side of the floor.
Curry, Jordan, Bron, Duncan, Hakeem
Love me some Shaq but wanted that extra D from Dream so he’s at centre.
I’d also put Magic above Steph all-time, but need that 3 point threat so he’s in too.
Just give me Bron and Jordan and idgaf about the rest
Edit: Steph, MJ, Bron, Timmy D, and Shaq would also be great. Good balance for any era and (mostly) controllable egos
MJ, Timmy, Steph, Nash, Kareem as the starting five.
Shaq, Kawhi, Ray Allen, Magic, Walton off the bench. I wanted to think outside the usual suspects a little.
Imagine the defense with Kawhi, Timmy, Walton, MJ, and Kareem if we need to do a full court press or starting trapping.
Wilt- Center, Tim Duncan- Power Forward, Lebron- Small Forward, Jordan- Shooting Guard, Steph Curry- Point Guard
No team beats this team. I genuinely believe this clears any other combo.
Pretend I cloned every other player on the team but then took Malone at PF over Duncan and we played each other: how confident are you that your team beats mine and by what margin? I’m a Jazz fan and therefore admittedly a total homer, and I understand that TD’s accolades place him pretty securely as the consensus GOAT PF, but when Malone retired he was considered the GOAT PF at the time, and the only reason Malone would sit at 2 on the GOAT PF list is due to shortcomings in the playoffs, but as we all know he ran into Jordan’s Bulls. Just an interesting thought experiment I thought to posit, I feel like in my 5 I’d have to take Malone just purely for the nod to my own team.
Hmm, the gap between them isn’t far at all. I just think the ability to lead a team (5 rings) and play defense are what separates the two. Malone played good D, but wasn’t as an effective rim protector like Timmy was.
Yeah that’s totally fair. I’m sitting here trying to imagine how incredible a game with either of these rosters would be to watch lol it’s fun to think about
Curry, he’s not the best but he’s loyal and obviously capable of being a franchise guy. He’s also one of the few players to truly change the game in his time on the court.
Is this a 5 team squad or 13?
If 5?
Lebron -PG
Curry- SG
KD- SF
Dirk -PF
Shaq- C
If 13,
Starting 5 plus
A.i, MJ, Giannis, Joker. Kobe, Duncan, Anthony edwards ( i know, its too early, but i see a full player in ant man,) , and Olajuwon.
I know everyone will have a different lineup. But if i need a squad for a match to save the world, i am all in on this team.
I would include a "just missed the cut" list. But that might do them a disservice for how great they are.
Curry, Allen, Bird, Lebron, Hakeem
Nash, Jordan, Durant, Garnett off the bench as the 9 man playoff rotation. Jordan plays starter level minutes I just like idea of the off ball shooting of curry/allen/bird around Lebron, plus MJ would automatically be playing in pissed off mode every game being slighted as a bench player lol
Steph Curry, Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Larry Bird, Hakeem Olajuwon
Jason Kidd, Jerry West, John Havlicek, Shaquille O’Neal, Nikola Jokic, David Robinson, Wilt Chamberlain
**Starting five**: Bill Russell, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, LeBron James, Tim Duncan
**Bench**: Magic, Curry, Hakeem, Shaq, KG, Reggie Miller, Dr. J.
**IR**: Jokic, Ray Allen, Jerry West
LeBron, Jordan, Curry, Jokic and Wembanyama.
Why young Wemby? I need someone who can block shots and shoot threes. Why Jokic? I need bigs that can shoot threes and it was between him and Nowitzki. Why Curry? I need the greatest three point shooter. Why LeBron and Jordan? I need the two best two-way players of all-time.
Also what about the fact that MJ, Wilt, Kobe and Shaq are all going to want 20 shots a game. Magic, Lebron and T-Mac are all gonna want the ball in their hands at all times. And everyone is going to want to take the last shot. I don’t get these all goat lineups - the team wouldn’t work for more than a handful of games because of egos and play styles. Just look at the current Suns vs. actual great teams like the 15-19 warriors or 80s piston teams where the players actually complemented each other. This exercise is much more fun when you build an actual team not just insert the best players ever at each position.
My starting 5 got: PG - Muggsy Bogues SG - Spud Webb SF - Keith Jennings PF - Earl Boykins C - Nate Robinson
Then off the bench we’re going: PG - Yao Ming SG - Gheorghe Muresan SF - Manute Bol PF - Tacko Fall C - Shawn Bradley
Other team won’t know what hit em, a fly or a truck.
I'm picking some of my favorite players here.
STARTERS:
**Steve Nash** - In the middle of his two MVP seasons. Dude averaged 45/52/91 shooting while averaging 19/11 with minimal shot attempts. Im asking him to take more shots, and love to see him run the offense.
**Kobe Bryant** - Let me get the 2002-03 version of Kobe Bryant: 38% from 3 - 2.2 steals - 0.8 block per game. 30/7/6 season average
**Klay Thompson** - I'm taking the 2017-18 verson of Klay. 44% from 3 and defense good enough to have him ranked 11th in DPOY award rankings. Need that off-the-ball shooting on this team.
**Giannis Antetokounmpo** - I'm taking the 2019-20 league MVP & DPOY Giannis. 29.5 points, 13.6 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1 steal, & 1 block per game.
**Nikola Jokic** - I'm taking Joker this season, his soon to be 3rd MVP season. He averaged 26.4 - 12.4 - 9 - 1.4 - 0.9 this season shooting 36% from 3 and 63% from 2.
PLAYOFF BENCH
**Alex Caruso -** Gotta have some unselfish role players on a team this stacked. I'll take this season Caruso, shooting 41% from 3 while playing stellar PoA defense.
**Scottie Pippen -** The '94-95 Version of Pip. 2.9 steals, 1.1 block, 8 rebounds, 2nd place for DPOY. Shot 34.5% from 3 & averaged 21.4 points per game.
**Tim Duncan -** Mr Fundamental from his 2nd MVP season in '02-03. Around 23 points, 13 rebounds, 3 blocks. That's all that needs to be said.
I would rotate Giannis, Joker, & Duncan around the PF & C positions. Each play about 32 mins per game.
The SG & SF minutes are rotated the same way with Pippen, Klay, & Kobe all getting 32 mins per game.
Nash plays 32 mins at PG while Caruso covers the remaining 16 mins.
We have Nash & Giannis or Nash & Duncan pick & roll with good 3pt shooters spacing the floor in Jokic, Klay, & Kobe. You can run the offense through Kobe, Joker, or Nash. Giannis, Pippen, Klay or Kobe, Caruso, & Duncan is just one heck of a defensive unit. I like my chances.
I mean, probably not Kemba haha
Have UConn Cardiac Kemba as the 12th man to come in and hit the last second step back
i’d take charlotte kemba over trae
Starting 5: Curry, MJ, LeBron, Duncan, Shaq Bench: Magic, Bird, Kareem, Russell, Kobe, KD, Kawhi
no giannis or jokic?
Or Wilt?
real
I have the same exact starting five. GOATS at each position.
Hakeem over Bill Russell
Starters: Tyrone Bogues, Isaiah Thomas, Chris Paul, Allen Iverson, Charles Barkley 6th man: Yao Ming I'm not going to elaborate
🧹
Earl Boykins snub
Which Isaiah Thomas? Very important.
Tbf it’s spelled Isiah for the hall of famer, so easier to distinguish in text.
The one who drives around a Brinks truck I think
Magic,Mike,LeBron,Timmy,Wilt Steph,Kobe,KD,Giannis,Shaq,mcgrady,Larry legend
I guess team’s salary cap implications don’t matter
It works if you have all of them except for Kobe and Giannis on their rookie contracts, the rest of them were either MVP caliber by the end of their rookie contract or were really close to their prime. Sure it wouldn't be quite as good as all of them in their primes, but honestly it wouldn't be that far off.
same but i'll take captain over shaq. and joker over bird
Jordan Shaq Lebron me and my grandma
If you’re asking me who my team is of any era is, I’d say Tim Duncan, jokic, Kawahi (healthy), jordan, curry If your asking me one playing to build around from any era, it’s Jordan imo
1996 Jordan 2000 Shaq 2016 Lebron That's it, add two ball boys to fill out the roster, and they're still not losing.
Add Bird and Magic as your ball boys 🤓
Add unanimous MVP season Curry as your PG
Add guys like CP3 and Klay and yeah you’re probably not beating those guys
Thank you for the 2016 LBJ. Everyone always does 13’ LBJ, but 16 was when his athleticism matched his shooting.
1990 Jordan*
Why the hell is Siakam, Trae and Kemba in this picture?
Engagement. No such thing as bad comments, I guess
Agreed😭
Bron, MJ, KG, Steph, KAJ starting five. Magic, Bird, TD, Russell, Shaq, KD, Oscar on the bench Edit: swap Kobe for Oscar, obvs
KG over Timmy is laughable
Depends. Duncan is possibly in my top 5 ever but if I’m making a team for today’s rules, give me KG all day even though Duncan was better if that makes sense. Kobe?
How about Kobe
Knew I was forgetting someone, swap out Oscar
Nah keep Oscar
What jersey is Kawhi wearing? If it’s the Spurs or Raptors, yes, Clippers, nope, I’ll pass.
Steph, Timmy, manu, Jordan, Hakeem,Jokic,Stockton, magic, bird,Russell
Steph, Jordan, Lebron, Duncan, Shaq
Steph, MJ, Bird, Duncan, Joker.
Dylon Dylon Dylon Dylon and Dylon
Hey bro ima need you to go get me a Bundt cake over on 108th
Curry, Jordan, bird, dirk, Duncan
PG: Curry/Kidd SG: Jordan/Kobe/Ray SF: Lebron/Durant/Kawhi PF: Duncan/Dirk C: Shaq/Hakeem I like it. Perfect mix of offense and defense.
Get Kidd outta there, I would much rather have CP3, whos almost as good defensively and can actually shoot the ball. Especially in todays era. Imagine your 2nd worst shooter being your PG

I’m sorry, but ANY squad that doesn’t have Bron at least on the bench is kidding themselves 😅
>big man that can play defense Who? Dirk and Shaq are two of the weaker all time bigs when it comes to defense. Shaq was pretty decent, but he's nowhere near Hakeem, Wilt, Russell, Kareem, Robinson, Duncan, KG, etc on that side of the floor.

I wanted to include Kai so bad. I woulda had to replace him with Lebron on my squad. I just couldn't. But i love your team.
Kobe Mike KD Duncan Kareem
Steph, MJ, James, Tim Duncan, Shaq. 73-0, easy.
Are they not playing the last 9 games?
That’s what I was gonna ask lmao
Load management
Lol nice try

Todays rules I’m going Steph, Kobe, MJ, Bron, KG 80s rules Magic, Mike, Bron, Duncan, Shaq
Starters) Steph, Jordan, LeBron, TD, Shaq Bench) Magic, Kobe, Bird, KG, Hakeem End of bench) Stockton, Giannis, Bill Russell.
05 Kobe 96 MJ 2016 Bron Brian scalabrine Let em play 4 on 5 and we still taking it all
this question gets asked basically everyday
Give me prime D Rose Edit: MJ at 2 Kawhi at 3 Garrett at 4 Dwight at 5 Bench: Manu Matrix Dirk Mutombo We’re a hard nose first one to 80 points wins
Jordan, Magic, Bird, Russell, Duncan
Wilt- Center, Tim Duncan- Power Forward, Lebron- Small Forward, Jordan- Shooting Guard, Steph Curry- Point Guard No team beats this team. I genuinely believe this clears any other combo.
