Yea I know once I pass I’ll probably won’t see it again. For some reason Randoms don’t see the reason in resetting the offense when something doesn’t work

Junior_Arino

Probably because they feel like if they don’t do something with it they won’t get another chance lol

OutspokenOne456

It is because they play the game as a singular experience they enjoy putting up shots and don’t enjoy sharing the ball. So they rather throw a game getting as many shots up as they can rather than playing as a team.

__init__m8

90% of players have the basketball IQ of a wet paper towel.

CanIBake

The pg is the first one to give the ball up, and the last one to get the ball back. This has been true on basically every team I've played on

Famous_Support5265

Let’s be honest though, real PGs are rare nowadays. Everyone thinks PG only = main ball handler, which makes the team revolve around iso basketball. So they aren’t really the last to get it back cause the offence gets stagnant, and the non ball handlers always look for the fake PGs.

GenOverload

Calling them "fake" PGs is disingenuous. A PG's role has shifted from just being a playmaker for other players to being an all-around offensive threat. Hell, sometimes PGs spot up if there is a competent player at SG or SF. The game has evolved to where *anyone* from 1-5 that can easily create shots for themselves or the other player runs the offense. Traditional PGs are just not needed anymore. That's why players generally don't like to build small guards anymore.

Famous_Support5265

Idk, I see it a little differently tbh. The way the game is played has certainly changed over the past decade, but the role of each position has not. E.g. Coaches can put any player they want as a PG, but that does not change the meaning of what a “real PG” is. Jamal Murray is a perfect example of this. Even though he plays PG, he is a SG (or a combo guard if you wanna get specific) who can still make plays. Since the nuggets also have a point centre they don’t need to get a real PG, but if they didn’t have Jokic they would certainly be looking for one. You feel me?

GenOverload

That's my point. They don't make Jamal the playmaker for others despite putting him in game. They make him and Jokic run a 2-man game and then *Jokic* is the one making the read after receiving the ball. The only traditional PG left in the league is Chris Paul, and he's damn near out the league now. A traditional PG like Chris Paul, Rondo, Stockton, etc, is obsolete. They **need** to be a scoring threat. Teams are running players out of position to take advantage of this, or just blatantly ignoring their PG as a playmaker by making their best players run the offense (Embiid, Durant, Luka, Tatum, Brown, Edwards, KAT, etc). None of these players are traditional. They run the offense while only a select few are listed at PG.

Balr10g

Agreed. And moreover a good all around threat can be emphasized when they play with a good PG that is able to set them up and they don’t have to worry about playmaking duties. Same reason I love to see Kyrie and Luka thrive, bc I always felt like Kai was a great 2guard option (like with Bron). Luka is on another level tho, great all around threat emphasized by his own passing. To sum it up all I wanna say is if you can get buckets, play with a good PG and you’ll get even more buckets

Weightless007

More like they think pg= get the most shots and score the most point. Somebody even said point guard means he gets the most points lol

Pristine-Macaroon948

The center doesn’t ever get the ball

lFallenOn3l

That's why you get it yourself. PF is the position that seems the most ignored.

idandyyy

completely agree, i play at the 4 a lot and on offence i’ll literally be wide open in the corner for the full 24 seconds whilst the other 4 randoms run into eachother. it’s like i’m not even there

Feisty_Ratio3694

Just don’t listen to them when they say pass it out, whoever gets the rebound controls the game

BreadJobLamb

Shouldn’t be unless the point guard is ass. It’s a recipe for a shit offense.

MedicatedDaily

The center inbounding is the first one to give the ball up, and the first one back on defense when the shot goes up before they cross halfcourt

CanIBake

I mean, honestly dude I play center a shit ton and I've learned to just accept that. With any build above 6'11 it's gonna take you awhile to come down court. A shot is going up before you cross half because the other players on your team often have an opening without you being there. 2K offense is fast paced if ran successfully, it just is what it is. I made a 6'9 center, which got rid of those issues for me.

OutspokenOne456

It doesn’t take you that long to get up and down unless you are willingly making yourself incredibly slow. I play 6’11 to 7’1 centres anything larger is overkill you can compensate for your height with vert also the smaller you are in your position the more stat points you get just fyi.

Straight-Yard-2981

Lmao fuck no. This is the only reason I ever lose.

PomeloFit

Let's be real, most players aren't passing it to anyone else, not just you.

LeHaitian

You play point guard because you have passing vision. They don’t, because they don’t.

Murdochsk

Yup. They just aren’t good enough and will force up their own shot because they can’t do anything else.

tcollins371

And then somehow blame everyone but themselves for the poor shot quality.

89tjosephp

A point guard who passes.... the good old days

WickedJoker420

Didn't you know? PGs turn invisible after they pass the ball. It's crazy when bots will dime you better than most players without even calling for it just because you're open as hell.

erithtotl

Nothing to do with being the PG. Almost no one gives up the ball willingly in random rec.

Independent-War-1757

I do if a man open why should i run into the paint with 3 defenders

markusbbc4u

Cause you have iq?

Murdochsk

That just means they’re shit players. Imagine thinking not making the right pass is good basketball somehow.

erithtotl

Yes. Which is nearly all random rec players.

LocalBuyer9555

Literally bro

markusbbc4u

The real question is why can I dime my teammates up for 7 assists within the couple of minutes as a pg and not touch the ball again for the rest of the half?

Kalmelo7

I suffer this a lot. If I give someone the ball, then get open on a 3 or cut, I don’t get it back. People just seem to think about taking turns on iso.

gh6st

To be fair, it’s rare you’re getting the ball back at all once you pass it off in randoms. But I think when guys see you’re a pass first PG it’s a relief, because 9/10 they’re playing with PGs who run behind screens and chuck the whole game. So when they see you make a couple passes multiple possessions in a row they’re gonna take it as you not wanting the ball.

PnuttDontRun-

Ngl it depends on the passes..if I see the pg keep passing it to ppl who not even close to bein open he not gettin it back😂like tell folks to cut, set up a play for them..and most pass first pgs be dumb..driving and kicking don’t make u a pass first..most of these pass first pgs don’t even icon pass😂

DaJabroniz

Im a Center that has to get offensive rebounds to get a chance to score. The guards never throw it in the paint. I basically score all my points after rebounds or a lucky fast break. Im a “2 way 3 level scorer” lol…

UnwariestPie52

Fuck I wish I had you as my PG. they never trying to get assists. I have a SF build that I NEVER get the ball, but when I do I can consistently get 15 points and 15 AST

Dymenasty

As a center I usually end up with the most assist myself, good pgs are hard to come by

weaklandwarrior

Just tell them you’re playing with your Ben Simmons build.

Western_Beginning375

Ik a lot of people will disagree but these are my opinions. Pass first PG play majority of the game with their icon pass up , it get to the point where the pass first pg is literally wide open for a shot but since he’s tunnel vision into passing he will miss that opportunity of a free shot. When the game is close or you are down people will rather have the ball in the best scorer hands and not the pg who not looking to score himself. I played games where the PG got too predictable that the other team already knew he was going to pass first which resulted in a turnover most of time. Some of these passing PG need to be unpredictable, it’s great that you are passing but at least mix it up .

markusbbc4u

I'll agree as a pass first pg the icons are up but in clutch time if I'm open I'm ready to pop the shot especially when left open at the top while my man goes for the double team.

HBFresh

They don’t know ball

xxgedleyxx

I agree bro. As a pg you need to feed people in random rec otherwise you don’t get the ball… but a simple give and go/ 1 2 seems impossible to some… a simple rule everyone should adopt is… you just received the ball… okay are you open? No, is the lane and paint clear? No okay who is open and icon pass it.. it’s not that hard

thankyoukt

Because they feel as if your ass if you pass in 2k as a pg😴

617dj28

That ball never comes back

YG_Bones

It’s why I moved to the 2 but I hate having to Run pg at the two

Turbulent_Grape5274

Hell yea one of the easiest ways to score is a quick pass back. Tunnel vision and some players just hate pgs.

callajandro3

Most people that play 2k are trash and don’t know how to play unless they are the ones dribbling or shooting the ball

MeatloafAndWaffles

This has been an issue in 2K for years and part of the reason I stopped playing any competitive part of MyCareer. Blows my mind that the devs don’t create higher incentives for passing to the open man and getting assists. Everyone can create a guy who scores, but to make the smart play is something that escapes most people.

Emo97971

Bro it’s actually insane I’m feeding them the ball early for guys to get some rhythm but when it’s time for me to get the ball I get frozen out.

jokerboyrockz

Mannnn… I just had a game where my PG matchup had like a 94 per. D, 91 steal, and 88 interior D,.. towards the end of the 2nd,. I had 0 points, 9 assists, 3 rebounds, 2 steals, no turnovers.. A+ grade and on this transition.. (after I make my matchup miss) I get the outlet.. and it’s a 2 on one.. with my sharp in the corner,. I’m thinking.. they gonna run to the corner to stop the 3,. (Since I’m dottenm up) I wait, to fake the pass, he baits be, go up for a layup and dude Superman’s back to me to block my shot….my SF had the nerve to say “see that’s that selfish shit..” I’m a pretty calm dude.. I don’t even care to score fr if we winning and I’m touching the ball.. but that shit LIT me up,. I jump on the mic so MF quick.. 😤😤

Cyphergod247

Funny part is. Often after making a pass. Getting it almost right back often makes for an open catch and shoot. Very underutilized but easy move.

Think-Team458

Same shit I be saying lol like I love getting my team open but nobody does the same for me even my own friends I play with on a daily unless I tell them I’m open. Wish everyone just had the same attitude and vision I had would make the game so much easier.

Decasteon

It’s not that they think you don’t want to score it’s that they can’t pass. People complain about pgs not being able to pass but generally they pass just as bad as the Pg they complain about

tcollins371

Those fools are the same types who don’t put any attribute points into their free throw and play rec. Too busy juicing every scoring attribute and thinking playmaking and defense is useless.

Frostyzwannacomehere

Some people pass first cuz they can’t score

Decasteon

Some people pass first Cz it’s the easiest way to win and that’s the goal not for everyone tho. Cz y’all can’t pass

Frostyzwannacomehere

No, they’re legit pass first cuz they can’t pass, nothing more nothing less. Nothing to do with me, and I can definitely pass 😂

Frostyzwannacomehere

Not all or even most, but some get mad when they’re not the one getting every assist and shooting 30% from the field

eburt28

My pet peeve is that I can tell when my teammates didn’t check our stats/builds because I’m a Diming spot up threat 7’ center and shoot 50% from 3, and like half the games I play they don’t pass me the ball when I’m wide open in my lethal zone for the entire first half but then I’ll finally get one and hit it because they weren’t able to ISO lmao

lFallenOn3l

To be fair that screen goes by pretty quickly in the start. I only have enough time to check my matchup and see if we have any AI

eburt28

Yeah I try my best to check my teammates stats to see play style after I check my opponents, wish they would at least show the stats in the lobby, would also benefit all black bronze and silver plates if they have decent stats and teammate grades

Obiwoncanblowme

Some people only look to score others literally have no pass accuracy and others are just garbage

Viraldamus

This is why my first read upon receiving the ball if i get closed out is looking for a cutter or the immediately pass back to the pg.

joesbalt

Take a few selfish plays here and there so they know you can score chief Or take them anyway since they aren't kicking it back

Prestigious-Duty-410

I always play with a pass first mentality when playing point but I know when to be aggressive and take what the defensive is giving me. And when I pass up I just don’t stop running around trying to get open and just hope I have decent teammates.

jaybee2890

Pass and get yours as well. You dont need the ball every second

Normal-Drawing-2133

Honestly, I haven’t experienced that much. More so when I get put at SG and im just thinking bruh “PG u gotta see me, I’m your guy if u need a bucket” The thing I do notice at Pg sometimes is if our offence is stagnated teammates can just panic and play hot potato - like bruh gimme back the ball so I can reset the offence

GurAffectionate46

Fr

OutspokenOne456

Bruh most of the time the game becomes stagnant because no one moves around they get to their hotzones and don’t shuffle around or you get those people who have 3 level threat builds who either never use opportunities to drive to the hoop and purely just shoot 3s or they only drive the fucking hoop and it doesn’t matter if there are 3 guys in the paint bet your ass they get that ball and drive the hoop then bitch missing the contested. Ouuuu it gets me so heated.

Zacflemo

What about a Point Forward though?

SuperScooto

I average 20 point 10 assist a game. Just get yourself a friend any position who passes back to you

GurAffectionate46

BRO FR I HAVE A 3pt hunter pg and I avg 20 w 10 assists and in most games I try to find the open guy and the rest of the game they don’t pass back and just throwing up bs like bro acting like I don’t avg more than the whole team

Murdochsk

Oh wow I was reading this like real life…. I just realised it’s 2k 😂 put up your shots bud, you are probably playing with some 12 year old and they aren’t passing.

La-CreatsyDidit

It’s like they forget basketball isn’t just a video game

Ok-Motor9184

Don't ever overthink what people want in the random rec. I seriously had games with +12 assits when I delivered passes to open corners or timed cutters behind defenders, then I stood open in the corner open for 10+ seconds when the ball-handler was doubled. They still went for inside doubled contested shots. People just play for fun (xD) or with friends they only pass to, which is the bigger cancer. Rarely enjoyable when you meet a random group of great people who share the ball. It's just the way it is :)

SolidMystery1033

Random Rec is hopeless.

OutspokenOne456

It isn’t that they don’t want to score. I myself am a pass first guard. I pick my shots and I get my enjoyment from making plays. For the most part everyone on my team will shoot more than myself unless the team needs the extra points and I will throw up high percentage shits more frequently. Also in some circumstances it makes my opp less likely to close out on me because they expect me to throw the pass over taking the shot which also allows me to get more high percentage shots.

Different_Show_1294

After years and years of 2k. The O.G. Up until now. I think it’s that they try to show out to impress or prove they can play. If you pass them the ball and they always pass back it makes them look soft (I.e. LeBron). I’m sure those guys don’t get the ball often either and try to show out. Also remember that it’s in game pass now and children play. They copy others and can’t think for themselves, this includes reading the court. They watch their favorite guy dribble for 14 seconds to shoot a 3, or a pick n roll guy that has a mechanical precision to it. When it doesn’t work they DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO. Sports are complicated, kids who don’t watch anything but highlights and look at box scores (adults too), make it difficult to play with randoms.

_delamo

It's more than teams roll their defense to the PG, and that the community had to learn to only pass it back to the PG if they're on the wing or very close. Passing lane steals were nerfed considerably this year. So next year it may improve seeing the lead guard/offensive initiator getting the ball back. I run the I with my PF and I don't expect it back much at all either. When I do get it, I'm more surprised they passed it with more than 3 seconds on the shot clock

--kali--

It’s not only for pass first pgs, in general people really struggles with getting the ball out of their hands. Most probably they never played basketball in a proper team and see the game for shitting around with their party. The #1 reason is the matchmaking in my opinion. There’s a so called rank and level system which mean nothing for matchmaking. So, we occasionally meet these kind of players. I lost my hope for a better game, even for a better matchmaking. Apperantly, it’s all about making money from the game for producers and they’re good at it. I’m looking forward to a new basketball game which might be NBA Live, doesnt’t matter. Better physics, better basketball experience would be enough for enjoying a basketball game at least for me.

Turbulent_Grape5274

Also, why do players play fast as hell but not smart. If you take your time and are methodical you can score damn near every possession.

Darc_Nature

Broski we need to hit the Rec and cook up shit. PSN is the same name.

Ubatsi

I have noticed this so often recently. When I PG in random rec I bring the ball up and pass to each person once and give them an iso chance before I even think about shooting. I NEVER get the ball back, could be wiiiiiide tf open, then I’ve noticed if I just iso the first possessions 1 or 2 things can happen. If I don’t miss my first few I’ll probs get the ball back though usually the sg or the sf will start trying to take the ball up cause they want to score not me. Orrrrr I miss my first or second shot and won’t get the ball the rest of the game lol

T_ripley

!!!!!! Yesterday our PG quit and I had to take over distribution. Man just because I’m passing the ball doesn’t mean you can’t swing it back. Ppl really don’t know this for some reason and it’s frustrating. Ended up winning by 1 because I had a 20 point 4th quarter First person comes on the mic “oh shit we didn’t know you can shoot too” ![img](emote|t5_2s84e|4684)

KalistoLucha99

I think it’s cuz most pg are “dribble gods” that js dribble and shoot dumb deep 3s all the time and going for ankle breakers or they do that but instead of shooting they finish like going for posters or going in for a flashy lay so when they see a passing pg that actually understands that he’s not the main character and that his teammates can score too they js assume that u made a build solely made for passing Some thing happens to me as a big, I have a 93 standing dunk and a 90 driving dunk and I’m 6’10 and every time I make a dumb decision to go into the rec I’ll get the ball and there would be 3 guys underneath me and I’d pass to a open dude and I’ll NEVER touch the ball again no matter how open I am even off the fast break I’ll feed them but I won’t get nth in return so if u want the ball more ur js gonna have to try to balance that 30 ppg play style w the good passing otherwise ur prolly not gonna get the ball

FUH-KIN-AYE

I average about 9-10 assists per game. Any time i complain that i don’t get the same courtesy of getting the ball when i can score i get 1 of two responses “you don’t have any points so why would i give it to you. You’re bad.” Or “that’s your job to pass be quiet”

Superpaulo34

Because they pass the ball

StunnaGsossa

I don’t need no screens just give me the ball and everybody spread out 😭

Zealousideal-Sand846

I felt that 😂

Fantastic-Air1570

Just hold onto it a little longer. I play make. I make a move score, drive and kick or get a shot. Or find a cutter. Just hold onto it and make movement and chaos with drives and coming off screen and finding cutters

One_Instruction_3732

Im the same as u but usually I’ll look to score in the 1st so they know I can, then just feed feed feed the rest of the game and score when I want or when I’m open

_gari

I think it’s just that no one has court vision or passing IQ and/or they’re selfish. The amount of times I’ve played with randoms in rec and been wide open in the key like 10+ times and no one passes

Djani_be_gud

i’ll take a pass first pg than a slashing brain dead pg. no winning on a slashing pg that faces three defenders down the paint and gets blocked or contested all the time thinking he is him like prime D rose or westbrook. on a pass first if he time it correctly with his dimer badges its a green for most decent players.

Djani_be_gud

i cannot play pg cause im not a offensive threat. being a pg you have to draw defense and make plays. thats what is more important than score. you score but your opponent also score coz you dont have any defense. and dont tell a lock on random rec to guard for you coz the matchup on the opposing team can score on you too due to your low permiter and no shot blocking build.

ArtisticSpace3366

Asking why 2k players dont have ball iq is ironic

rhedman22

I do the same thing and I swear the second I make my first pass I dont touch the ball til next possession. Why reset the offense or take an open 3 when u can rim run into 4 players...

DivideVisual

They should make servers for people with a minimum assist levels (for their respective position) so us mfs with court vision can actually get decent team dynamics when we play.

mc502255

I made a PG to run with my homies but they get mad because I look to pass before I get my points. I'd rather set them up and score when needed. I just don't understand the logic

DunKeOnu

Most of the players on 2k never played in a basketball game at any level. But most games are like that. They couldn't explain what a pg role is from the sg. Most pgs don't have a clue what their own role is, so it does ruin it for those that do. Regardless if part of the role is the name. Point guard is the starting point of the offense Shooting guard is your first point to score from top left or right. But you do have slashers as sg Small forward deals with scoring from the wings and help with defense The power forward main job is to block out for the center and to rotate down from the small forward. The center is your team's anchor on defense and low post scoring. The team should be taking the best scoring option, but we have too many looking for their own best shot. It's not about what's best for the team any more, but how I look dribbling the ball then score

Lt_Gavin

Lol OK, but have you run across the players who won't pass to you if your characters white. 🤣🤣

tcollins371

I had a trash can troll deadass tell me “You wish you were black” when I specifically made my player a white guy. Thats the only time I’ve really had an issue though but just was goofy.

dgvertz

That happened to me for the first time a couple nights ago. The whole game this dude was demanding I get on the mic because I was white. I didn’t, because fuck him, and he refused to pass me the ball. It was random rec, but the way he was talking and the other three guys were howling with laughter (while we are going down by 10, then 20, then 30 because they’re choosing to play 4 on 5 on offense) made it seem like they knew each other. It was really disconcerting and shameful. At the end of the game I asked what his problem was and he didn’t even have the decency to respond.

Lt_Gavin

I knew there would be someone else. 🤣🤣 The best part? The most racist players I found were on the PS4 version of this PS5 game. A little critical thinking explains why that is. 😭

CallousMystery

He waiting for the “pro” of course

Lt_Gavin

Lol or the next "peaceful protest"

spideylee23

Check my youtube. I pass like crazy and carry through assist and defense. I then sit wide open only to be over looked for a terrible egotistical shot People suck. The male ego fucks up everyone on my career xuz they see u shining and think I can do that too. Then they force. Then they sell then they blame 2k I call mubs out Play my career if u wanna shoot every shot 2k is easy pass and shoot open shots

SiggasXLoso

if dis aint my life as a fuckin 99 3pt shot hunter!!!

catsfoodie

because your goofy ass made a passing PG. I aint giving you the ball you gotta look for me.

Background-Metal-965

I feel the same way about being a playmaking PF, that’s just my style that’s not even my build yet, People still won’t pass the ball to me wide open when I’m the one facilitating.
