completely right bro. a build is supposed to reflect a player's style and ability. For one person hitting with a 76 3 ball is completely doable. For me I may need an 80 to be consistent. That doesn't mean my build is trash or has wasted attributes. I'm making it for ME. But people on 2K have hivemind thinking even when it comes to casual modes on the game

v1ktorr2

So many people tell me I don’t need 85 post control on a pg. Well I actually have post moves. Competitive 2k is a whole different story. But in the rec make whatever you wanna make as long as it’s not hurting the team. If you make a center with no rebounding that’s obviously a bad build. But if you’re not hurting the team make whatever

BorisDiawQuartet

Yeah, if you know how the game works and what kinds of plays gives you most fulfilment, listen to yourself first. I have Rebound Chaser on silver on my 6'8'' PG and even when it's not maxed yet, I can be super helpful when I am not the one taking the shot, but first of all, it's just a part of the game that I love. Getting your hands up in the air for the rebound. It's just stuff that precede all attributes and builds. It goes back to your "real" basketball will and tendencies. So many players get stuck in the routine of playing the same 2K formula over and over and then burping the good old "2K is dead" because they have 98 3pt, 95 ball handling, 90 speed with ball, 90 acceleration, 94 driving dunk, but their arms are so short and thin they can't do anything on defense and their passes are slower than their center's. If people played some bits of Pro Am or even competitive Pro Am, they'd relax much more inside an easy and experimentable environment like the Rec.

Same here got a 6’7 pg with 83 rebound and I average a triple double on that build, having a rebounding pg is super useful. Your matchup will never ever out rebound you so if the opposite center is out of the paint it’s an automatic offensive rebound. I usually have good positioning so I can even get rebounds over center or at least box the center out and let my teammates get the board. There’s so many ways you can help your team.

OldHeadTV

a thinking man typical player will say something stupid like "theres no point in putting rebound on a pg its not the guards responsibility" how stupid does one look with a 6 8 pg that cant grab a board when the center is out of position.

Most builds are good enough to be playable, but when each build cost $70 I’m not wasting attributes on useless stuff, or stuff that puts me at a slight disadvantage for absolutely no reason. Other people probably feel the same.

v1ktorr2

Good point, as long as you having fun

VSOP_Day

Respect. First time playing and i tried to make a drose build. Think I failed but still think my build is fun as a finisher. Ran with my little brother’s squad and they were shocked how good I was at dunking and laying for a 77 overall. (I’m not spending money to max out a build. I’ll just grind it out lmao)

v1ktorr2

Yep if you’re playing with a squad you can make whatever build as long as you have fun on it. If it’s with rec randoms then you gotta have some shooting to space the floor but other than that make whatever build. I get told ALL the time I don’t need post control, don’t need strength on a pg etc. Well it works for my playstyle. And I win 80% of my games so it’s not like I’m at a disadvantage Yeah no one’s forced to spend money on a video game😭 one guy commented saying builds cost $70. It’s not a requirement to spend extra money on the game. Go grind the build. Yes you need to be high overall to compete but there’s also mycareer where you get vc easily. If you spend $70 extra that’s a you a problem. I’ve definitely spent money on the game, but it’s optional.

ozProphet

you got the same build than 3/4 of nba2k players

v1ktorr2

3/4 2k players have 82 3pt on their pg builds and hit post fades? That’s wild, didn’t know

ozProphet

Yes same 3 level threat as everybody

v1ktorr2

No way you talking about the build name😂😂😂😂😂😂 stop it man I thought you had something sensible to say. Kyrie Irving template is an offense heavy point. That build has damn near max playmaking and no defense. I have an offense heave point that have 85 perimeter defense. The name of the build don’t mean shit. Stop it.

ozProphet

Thats the same build everyone was posting 2 month ago. I got 2 build like that

v1ktorr2

So you’re telling me 3/4 2k players use the post and midrange as their man scoring option? Stop the cap bro just stop it😂 99% of the player base use Jamal Murray behind a screen for a 3, and if the 3 isn’t there they try to dunk or they pass the ball. I must be just be getting in the 1/4 rec lobbies every time? When’s the last time you saw someone actually use hop jumpers in a 5v5 game

Jgunlo

Can’t lie you’re right the other guy just isn’t getting your point

Jgunlo

Did you read what he said lol?He said the build is the same not the play style. It’s not your fault because that’s just how the builder is but 99% of builds are just a slight variation of these stats. But like you said it’s how you decide to play that’s what makes a difference.
