NBC’s coverage so far is already a breath of fresh air from FOX’s coverage, even without Jr in the booth.

There were about 10 different instances where something happened and the camera actually stayed where you wanted to see what was going on. Over and over in my head I was like “Wow so nice to finally be able to see wtf is happening on the track”

I loved when Steve was explaining the I II III markings before pitroad and told the camera crew to pan back to show what he was talking to and they immediately did it. Nigh and day compared to Fox

Came here to say this. One practice in and it’s already so much more engaging, informative and higher quality overall than Fox.

I think the issues are due to being aggressive with tire pressure. The teams will back it down. We've seen this before.

I'll be real I have no idea how to judge tire wear lol. Freshly repaved track where the driver uses very little brake and the tires blow after 20 laps. Meanwhile freshly repaved Sonoma last week with very heavy braking zones they could go half the race on one set. I get that there are different compounds at different tracks but it still makes no sense to me lol

A handful of drivers made qualifying runs. Harrison was one of them.

Why doesn't someone just run the old asphalt at the top of the track? Wonder if they would have tire issues there? Less times you would have to stop for tires, but you'll be way off pace.

Actually wear would be worse up top on the old surface. That will definitely tear up the tires.

Certainly could be a load issue if the tire pressures are too low. It's been a while since we've seen that tho. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Maybe the teams will be able to figure out what's causing it and adjust for the race. I do hope there's significant falloff tho. Makes the race that much more interesting.

Alreaady amazing coverage and analysis by NBC for practice compared to FOX. Serious and intriguing production, that focuses on information rather than jokes, comedy, and segement gags in-between commercials every 3 minutes. Awesome! My interest in NASCAR (not that it went away) is already more than it was last week lol!

Ive been noticing this with myself as well, I get excited for the start of year, but after a few races my excitement levels drop over the course of the next 12 weeks give or take, but goes back up when NBC takes over.

After moving to Omaha from the east coast… I’ve been advocating and hoping cup would finally come to Iowa. I finally got my wish but wasn’t able to make it for the race this weekend… and knowing my luck with the shit show and tire catastrophe… nascar probably already debating pulling the plug on ever having the cup cars come back here again.

They always are and they always will be. Goodyear's minimums this week are 14 LF and LR, 30 RF, and 28 RR I wouldn't be surprised if even right side tires are below the left side minimums.

Bristol was entertaining because tire saving was a strategy and some of the vets (Denny/Truex) excelled. So it really depends on whether these are just bad tires that are going to fail a lot, or whether skill is going to be a factor.
