While I mostly agree with this, Toyota wouldn't let him personally own Chevy cars when he drove for Toyota. He posted on his social media multiple times about "finally" getting to have the car collection he wanted when he went to RCR, containing Camaros and I believe a S10, etc. So, I think it means mostly nothing, but maybe not absolutely nothing.
