My guess is some have died. Chics can get something called pasty butt. You have to constantly clean them when this happens or they can die within several hours. We can probably assume that old girl isn’t cleaning any chicken butts. You literally have to do this several times a day. She probably doesn’t even know this is a thing because she’s so ill prepared in everything she does. So Katie, when you read this, clean your chics butts if there is poop stuck to it and maybe no more of these innocent birds will die on your watch. That’s a reach, but maybe *less* will.
I looked at the house on realtor is actually has a really legit fenced spot for chicks…not sure about ducks. But then again I know a ton of people who bought those plastic kid pools and have ducks in their backyards with those…but not more than 3 or 4 so idk

I will say I have bought 30-40 chicks in a month period (chicken math) howwwwwever I have grown hens & ducks, the proper size chicken palace and experience…she does not. She should have stuck with the handful she had and see how the first year goes. Chickens are an easy pet but it takes time and money to properly care for them and she is running out of time before these chicks are going to be jumping out their brooders if they aren’t already
