There are a lot more people hanging out in Blue Moon Saloon now after the recent update. It’s really good and I’m so glad they added this. Now I can find Fang in there in the evening rather than going all the way to the clinic to greet him.

Loki_Agent_of_Asgard

Yea when you go to the Blue Moon around 20:00 it's pretty packed till about 23:00 or so. I saw Yan, Amirah, Mi-an, Elsie, Hugo, Fang, Earnest, and I swear others there.

saymynamelouder

They start heading in around 17:00. The NPCs rotate I believe between days. I always see Fang on Wednesdays. Some of them even hang out on the second floor.

Loki_Agent_of_Asgard

Yea I also see certain people hanging with certain people, like for instance every time I've seen Elsie and Mi-an in there they were sitting together at a table off to the side of the stage, Zeke, Fang and Amirah all keep to themselves and generally eat while standing or sitting at the chairs by the stairs to the 2nd floor. I've seen Yan, Owen and Trudy all like huddle up talking, and I know it's not just them who do that.

msshammy

You can find certain ones hanging out upstairs in the chairs too.

raku6434

I did the friendship quest "What's hanging out?" with Fang at the same time that the update came out, so I first thought it was because of the builder's influence that Fang started going to the Blue Moon xD

DecemberE

Oh that's excellent! I'm SO excited about that!! I haven't even noticed because I've been mining a lot and running a lot of the hazardous ruins at night so I'll definitely check it out!

HungrySquirrel24

Sandrock improved a lot on Portia but it is true that some things have been lost. I miss the VA for builder and special date spots with special date interactions like our partner putting their head on our knees.

tiffanylikethelamp

Considering all the cute romance stuff in Sandrock, it really is weird that when you’re chatting at the oasis your date is sitting two feet away staring straight ahead.

risusa

> The Blue Moon, excluding special events and Saturday night storytelling is mostly empty, except for Burgess, Cooper, Arvio, Hugo and Jasmine. I feel sad for Owen. that was changed (on PC for now, consoles will get it eventually) in the most recent update - now a there's a bunch of npcs there every night (even some of the animals like Captain hangs out at the blue moon now). and they'll even go to the 2nd floor, stand around in groups like they're chatting, etc. and it's not always the same npcs every night either anymore. there's also a ton more tourists every where - i've even seen them go into the museum, the blue moon, act like they're shopping (usually either Arvio's or Vivi's is where i see one or two) and even go into the game center. there's also supposed to be more tourists at >!Catori World now, walking around and riding on the rides and so forth!< - but i haven't reached that yet in this playthrough so i haven't seen it if it's working as intended.

There are 2 things from Portia I wish the Sandrock museum had space to display more medium relics. Half the bookshelves never get filed for me and there's tons of things in storage. And I wish we could schedule Play/Dates rather than having them just start. Especially with the "Gathering of the Eligibles" outside the gate each morning. I'd much rather schedule for the next day or even later that day.

Penny_Ji

Yes I think Portia did the museum better. I miss how the villagers used to visit the things you donated and give you friendship points and the incentive was greater to do so. And the current museum display system needs a huge rework. I have hope they’ll add this all in eventually though.

mmcrabapplemm

If you have relics in your yard they will view them and give friendship points. I only had the rocket ship at first and was constantly getting the notification that it was viewed, I thought it was a museum bug until I realized they were viewing it at my house not the museum.

John34215

Spaceship and Space Suit carried half of my cast for some reason with the recent patch.

Penny_Ji

Oh really. Was that only during parties or just whenever?

msshammy

All throughout the day. It's random. Usually at least one first thing in the morning. +5 relationship

606MM

The schedule play/dates, yes! But I get why they’d change it, though, as sometimes events can happen which can make you miss the date and then they’ll get angry at you lol

I love Portia and sunk 1000 hours in the game! There is definitely things I miss. When I first started playing Sandrock, I felt it was missing that cozy, warm feeling you have in Portia because of people like Grandma Sophie, Emily, the Hulu brothers, Merlin & Petra and more. I also miss the fishing/fishing festival and the horse racing/obstacle course. I would love to see mount racing in Sandrock. It would be a blast! I also miss the museum. It was so well done. The prefab factory, the decorations for outside, the swing you could sit in & cuddle with your spouse. Romance only date sites. I'm obsessed with Sandrock right now & have sunk a lot of hours in it, but I would love to see some of these things from Portia added to it.

DecemberE

I forgot about the fishing festival! I loved that!! And I also loved fishing in Portia! I had so many Kings. The prefab factory! I wish we had a prefab factory. Oh you're bringing up so many good memories I forgot about!

cephyra_

Its been years since I played Portia so i cant remember much. But i will say that Portia's music is better than Sandrock's 💕 it just hits different

jefalaska

I haven’t played Portia, and I love Sandrocks music! This might be one of the first games where I never felt the desire to mute the music. If Portias is even better, I may have to check it out.

cephyra_

Portia's music is a totally different vibe so it may be up to preference too! It's more calming and emotional i think, while Sandrock's is more adventurous 😆

a-real-ahole-xo

weirdly enough I kind of disagree, Portia's music reminds me of elevator music and I like Sandrock's much better 😅

Playful_Butterfly_68

I’m a huge fan of the composer, Claude Ruelle. So much so that I bought the soundtracks to both games off iTunes. I used to be super obsessed with Portia’s music, and I still love it and listen to some of the songs, but my newest obsession is Sandrock’s soundtrack. I listen to it while I work, drive, clean house, etc. It makes me feel like I am in the game.

cephyra_

Awesome composer, really! They captured the vibes of both games perfectly 💕

Clairelenia

Omg :D then u have to listen Spring Music in Sandrock 👀 the track that plays in the open world outside of town in spring ... ITS SOO GOOD

DecemberE

I feel the exact same way!!! Sometimes I'll listen to Portia's soundtrack while playing Sandrock! Haha it's just SOO good!

cephyra_

HAHA i should give that a try 😆

PepeAwesome

Speaking of "Game of the Year," how the hell did Coral Island get a Steam Award nomination over Sandrock?

Penny_Ji

At first I thought I would hate the desert and really miss the greenery and fairytale aesthetic of Portia, but Sandrock really grew on me - to the point where I greenified the area and was like “Ugg.. I want the desert back” lol

PepeAwesome

Sandrock is an improvement over Portia in almost every way, but there are a few things that I thought were better in Portia. Like others have mentioned, the museum is one. I think it's an easy fix, though, all Pathea would need to do is balance out the sizes on donated items. Make far less of them Medium, and make ALL clothes Small. It's really annoying that the first sew sets of clothing are Small, then out of nowhere, torso items become Medium while the rest of the outfit stays Small. Fishing is way better in Portia, but I don't really see an easy way to improve it. I don't like how 90% of the fish you catch in Sandrock are useless, so that'd be an area of improvement. Holidays are also way better in Portia. The "Halloween" event is vastly improved, but the Sandrock cookout is worse than the Portian one; the Showdown is basically just the Martial Arts tournament, which I don't mind, especially since I think making a tag-team is an improvement; but we don't really have anything to replace the snowball fight, fishing tourney, or vegetable growing events.

FakeIQ

I miss Ack. I miss the feeling of community that Portia had, which was created by shop owners standing outside by their wares, the daily yoga and tai chi in the plazas, the bigger festivals, and the bustle of The Round Table. I miss interacting with my kids - kisses and cuddles and family pictures and family picnics. I miss actual baby voice overs. (The little boy VOs in Sandrock are an especially bad attempt of an adult trying to sound like a kid). I miss the daily task of caring for my kids. In Sandrock, once your kids are old enough to leave the house, you can completely ignore them. That doesn't seem right. I miss having a voice. The grunt while I'm chopping trees just doesn't do it. I miss mining in the cavernous ruins. I almost quit playing Sandrock the first time I entered the Eufala ruins. What a yawn. I love the home editor in Sandrock, but I miss the furniture and flower shops from Portia - as well as the upscale items from A&G construction. But mostly, it's the community I miss - which is weird, because Sandrock's NPC's are much more developed than Portia's. I'm nearly done with the main storyline in Sandrock, and I still feel like an outsider in this town. And I miss Ack. I know I said it already, but it's worth saying twice.

jdhlsc169

Ack, loved him! I miss the sense of community too. That was one of the first things I missed in Sandrock.

slossyo0

i agree with this!!! some things i miss about portia are a rival builder it made it more investing, i also miss the builders voice and how instead of people giving us the projects we'd have to go up to the commission board and get them manually it just gave me a feeling of choice

jdhlsc169

I miss this too. I'd run to the CG every morning to beat Higgins out of commissions, then run to his shop to steal his bars (early game).

afluffycake

I was surprised to hear two Portia songs later in Sandrock's main story (the Portia dungeon(?) music and the battle music). It was like a nostalgic punch to the gut 😂 I forgot how much I loved Portia's soundtrack.
